The first batch of U.S. and Canada My Nintendo Store invitation emails for Nintendo Switch 2 was scheduled to begin on May 8, 2025. That date has passed: Nintendo’s current U.S. buying guide says an invitation has not been required since August 28, 2025. The invitation rules below are historical, not a description of a process shoppers can still join.
When were the first Switch 2 invitations scheduled to go out?
Nintendo’s first batch of My Nintendo Store invitation emails was scheduled to start on May 8, 2025, according to NintendoSoup’s summary of the regional invitation guidance. Further batches were expected periodically until My Nintendo Store opened purchases to everyone. The summary did not specify how many invitations would be sent or the likelihood that a registrant would receive one.

The schedule was part of the run-up to Switch 2’s June 5, 2025 launch. Nintendo had previously said North American retailer preorders were planned to begin April 9, 2025; both dates are historical context, not upcoming purchasing deadlines. Nintendo’s launch announcement quoted president Shuntaro Furukawa describing Switch 2 as “the next step in at-home gaming that can be taken on the go based on eight years of play and discovery that began with Nintendo Switch.”
What were the historical registration and priority requirements?
NintendoSoup’s account of the U.S. and Canada invitation guidance separates eligibility to register from the conditions used to prioritize invitations. Meeting the registration requirements alone did not establish that an account met the priority criteria.

For an active Family Plan, the plan-purchasing account had to satisfy the purchase-related conditions. It also noted that an individual paid membership could qualify the user for the one-year membership condition. |
The April 2, 2025 date was the measurement point given in the summary for the priority criteria. These details are reported as NintendoSoup summarized the historical guidance; they are not current eligibility rules, and the original official FAQ text is not available in the cited source.
How long did invited shoppers have to purchase?
The historical summary said an invited customer had 72 hours from delivery of the email to complete a purchase. It described this as the purchase window for an invitation, not a general deadline for all Switch 2 buyers.
