There are 38 owls to find in Tales of Arise. Most are optional collectibles hidden across Dahna; the final six are endgame finds, and the last requires completing the Beyond the Grave sub-quest. This spoiler-aware checklist gives the areas in collection order, the reward milestones, and the recovery route for the owl that can be missed during a one-time visit.
How the owl hunt works
Owls are optional collectibles returned to the Owl Forest. Hootle, Rinwell’s companion, is described by Bandai Namco as “A pet owl from Dahna that journeys with Rinwell as her sidekick.” The collection is tied to cosmetic rewards and three trophies or achievements: Owl Spotter, Owl Scouter, and Owl Homecoming.
You begin receiving Owl Forest rewards after reaching Nevira’s White Silver Plains and starting the unmissable Owl Forest sub-quest. The complete area index below is a progress checklist, not a set of exact hiding coordinates; use an area-specific walkthrough or map to pinpoint an individual hiding spot.

The first 32 owls are listed by region. The last six are special endgame owls, including one on Uninhabited Island.

The final six also give individual items, including the Ancient Excavator, Trident, and Metal Miner’s Cap. After collecting all 38, return to the Owl Forest and speak with the King to claim the completion rewards.
Can you miss an owl?
Owl #26 has a one-time-area complication: it may be aboard Mobile Fortress Gradia. If you leave without collecting it, check its alternate location in Thistlym. The guide identifies this alternate recovery spot, so the Gradia visit does not make the collectible permanently missable.

How to find the final owl on Uninhabited Island
Owl #38 is tied to Beyond the Grave. This route includes late-game locations and a boss, so it contains story spoilers.
- Enter Tuah Seashore to trigger the Beyond the Grave sub-quest.
- Speak with Mahavar at Hidden Wharf to arrange transport to Uninhabited Island.
- Defeat the quest’s boss.
- Check the rocks to the left to find the owl; Gamer Guides reports that it gives the Metal Miner’s Cap.
- Once all 38 owls have been returned, speak to the Owl King in the Owl Forest for the final collection rewards.
