Tales of Eternia Remastered launched worldwide on October 16, 2026. What is Tales of Eternia about?
The story takes place in Eternia, a world split between two isolated realms: Inferia and Celestia. Reid Hershel and his companions cross the boundary between those worlds as they work to avert a catastrophe threatening both societies.

The two-world structure is the game’s defining premise. It gives the adventure a built-in contrast between cultures that have developed separately, while making travel and cooperation central to the plot. Players should expect a traditional party-based Japanese RPG journey rather than an online or shared-world game: the official classification is single-player RPG.
How the remastered combat works
Tales of Eternia Remastered keeps the series’ side-on, real-time battle format. Bandai Namco identifies the system as the Aggressive Linear Motion Battle System, a 2D system in which combat unfolds dynamically rather than through turn selection.

Quality-of-life improvements
Quality-of-life improvements are also part of the remaster’s stated feature set. The announcement does not enumerate every adjustment, so buyers should not assume a particular menu option, accessibility feature or convenience setting unless it is listed in the version they are purchasing.
What remains familiar
The game remains a single-player RPG built around Eternia’s two realms and dynamic 2D real-time battles. The remaster improves the way the classic is presented and played without changing that core identity.
