The TECNO Pocket Go is not a conventional screen-equipped handheld. It is a Windows gaming PC built into a controller-style unit, with TECNO’s AR Pocket Vision glasses supplying the display. Announced configurations use an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS with Radeon 780M graphics, although TECNO’s current global product page also lists a Ryzen 7 8840U with an optional upgrade to the HS chip. The glasses are an external wearable display—not a self-contained VR headset.
What the TECNO Pocket Go actually is
The Pocket Go combines a Windows computer, gamepad controls, battery and cooling system in one controller-shaped device. Unlike an ASUS ROG Ally or Lenovo Legion Go, it has no built-in screen. You use it with the included AR Pocket Vision glasses, an ordinary monitor or television, or another compatible USB-C display.

That design makes the Pocket Go closer to a controller-sized mini-PC with integrated controls than to a traditional handheld console. It can be used without TECNO’s glasses if you have another suitable display, but the glasses are central to the product’s intended experience.
TECNO describes the Pocket Go as an AR gaming system and promotes a virtual screen equivalent to roughly 215 inches viewed from six meters. That is a perceived virtual-display comparison, not a literal 215-inch panel.

The processor specification needs particular care. Independent launch coverage commonly identifies the Pocket Go as using the Ryzen 7 8840HS, while TECNO’s current global listing says “Ryzen 7 8840U, optional up to Ryzen 7 8840HS.” This could reflect different configurations, markets or campaign tiers. Buyers should confirm the processor, memory and storage on the exact listing they intend to purchase.
What the Ryzen 7 8840HS means for gaming
The 8840HS is an eight-core, 16-thread Zen 4 processor with Radeon 780M integrated graphics. Its graphics silicon belongs to the same broad eight-core, 12-compute-unit RDNA 3 family associated with the Ryzen Z1 Extreme used in handhelds such as the Legion Go and ROG Ally. That does not make performance identical: the result depends on the Pocket Go’s power limit, cooling, memory configuration, drivers and game settings.
Because the Radeon 780M uses shared system memory, the 32GB version may offer more headroom than a 16GB model for modern games, multitasking and desktop applications. The CPU name alone cannot establish frame rates, battery life or sustained performance. Those results vary with resolution, wattage, game engine and thermal conditions.

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11The Pocket Go is therefore best understood as a Windows gaming PC capable of running traditional PC games, cloud gaming services, emulators and desktop software. It should not be sold as guaranteed smooth performance for every AAA game without independent testing at specified settings.
AR Pocket Vision glasses: a wearable monitor, not a VR headset
Reported specifications include dual 1080p Micro-OLED displays, six-axis gyroscopic tracking, adjustable diopter support and refresh rates of up to 60Hz. The glasses can create a large private screen that follows the user’s view, but available information does not establish a full VR software ecosystem or room-scale positional tracking.
That distinction matters. Six-axis gyro sensing is not the same as the room-scale six-degrees-of-freedom tracking used by a Meta Quest-style headset. The practical use case is playing a Windows game on a floating private display, watching video or using a large virtual desktop—not immersive VR gaming.
The glasses also introduce their own buying questions: comfort around the nose and temples, eye strain, prescription-lens support, cable routing and whether the display remains comfortable during a full session. TECNO’s diopter adjustment may help some users, but it does not guarantee that every prescription will be comfortable.
Battery, cooling and ports
The removable 50Wh battery is one of the Pocket Go’s clearest advantages over most Windows handhelds. It makes carrying a spare potentially more practical, but a replaceable battery is useful only if compatible replacements are available at reasonable cost. A 50Wh capacity does not establish a specific gaming runtime; power mode, game workload, display brightness and charging behavior all change the result.
TECNO advertises operation up to 35W and describes a large fan with three copper heat pipes. Sustained performance still needs to be judged under a defined workload rather than from short benchmark bursts. The reported 65W GaN charger should be confirmed for the buyer’s region.
The two USB-C ports, microSD slot, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 broaden the device’s usefulness, but the exact functions of each USB-C port should not be assumed. Check which port supports charging, video output, data and the glasses. TECNO also advertises compatibility with phones that lack DisplayPort, but that claim is device- and configuration-dependent rather than universal support for every Android phone or iPhone.

Can it work with other displays?
Yes in principle, but compatibility depends on the connection. An ordinary monitor or television may work through the appropriate USB-C video output or adapter. Third-party display glasses such as the XREAL Air 2 Pro could be relevant, but buyers must confirm DisplayPort Alt Mode, adapters, power requirements and software support for the specific setup.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf TECNO’s glasses break, are uncomfortable or are not included in the chosen configuration, the Pocket Go’s value depends heavily on whether another display can be connected easily. This is the central difference from a conventional handheld: the computer may be portable, but the complete gaming experience is not self-contained.
Price and availability
The official TECNO product page remains available, but the supplied information does not verify a dependable current U.S. retail channel, current official price or active Kickstarter inventory as of August 2026. Check the live sales page for your country before buying.
Historical 2024 campaign reporting listed approximately:
- $539 for a 16GB/512GB handheld;
- $699 for a 32GB/1TB handheld;
- $349 for the glasses alone;
- $869 for a 16GB bundle with glasses; and
- $1,049 for a 32GB bundle with glasses.
Other launch reports cited an expected $899 Kickstarter price and a €1,199 European package. These figures likely represent different regions, tiers or campaign updates and are not current verified retail prices. Crowdfunding delivery estimates are not guarantees, as Kickstarter explains. Warranty coverage, returns, replacement batteries and included glasses should be confirmed before payment.
Pocket Go versus a conventional Windows handheld
A device such as the ROG Ally X or Lenovo Legion Go includes an integrated screen and can be used immediately without cables or glasses. Those products are simpler choices for public use, shared use, troubleshooting and mainstream warranty support. The Legion Go also offers detachable controllers, while the Ally X represents a more conventional handheld design.
The Pocket Go’s advantages are different: a controller-first shape, a private oversized virtual display, a potentially replaceable battery and the ability to use a separate monitor. Its disadvantages are equally fundamental: no onboard screen, wearable-display discomfort, uncertain regional availability, configuration ambiguity and a less established support ecosystem.
For most buyers who simply want portable PC gaming, a conventional handheld is the lower-risk purchase. The Pocket Go becomes more compelling if you specifically want a private giant screen, already own compatible glasses, value a replaceable battery or are comfortable being an early adopter of an unusual design.
Verdict
The TECNO Pocket Go is a legitimate and inventive Windows gaming PC, but calling it a normal handheld hides its most important limitation. The computer is in the controller; the display is somewhere else—usually the AR Pocket Vision glasses.
