The Temporal Mantle is a specialized tool in Monster Hunter: World that automatically evades certain powerful attacks. It is not universal invulnerability: damage-over-time attacks can still hit, and published guides disagree on how long its effect lasts.
What the Temporal Mantle does
Kiranico describes its effect as: “Nullify damage from powerful attacks by automatically evading.” The item database identifies its game data as version 15.11. Kiranico’s Temporal Mantle entry and its specialized-tools index classify it as a specialized tool with that core function.

In practical terms, the mantle can trigger an automatic evasion when a qualifying attack would otherwise hit. Game8 says it also works while the hunter is clutching a monster. That does not mean every source of damage is avoided.

Game8 distinguishes direct attacks from damage-over-time effects: it says non-damage-over-time attacks can be dodged, but damage-over-time attacks may still hit. Its example is Kulve Taroth’s ground breath. Treat the mantle as protection against qualifying attacks, not as a guarantee that the hunter cannot take damage. Game8’s Temporal Mantle guide describes these limitations.

How to unlock the Temporal Mantle
Game8 lists this quest sequence for obtaining the mantle:
- Complete “Teostra The Infernal.”
- Complete the Special Assignment “The Blazing Sun.”
- Complete the Special Assignment “Pandora’s Arena.”
- Complete the Special Assignment “No Remorse No Surrender.”
The sequence and quest names are those given in Game8’s guide; an official quest record independently confirming the route was not available in the cited sources.

How to upgrade it
Game8 identifies “Divine Surge” as the quest that unlocks the Temporal Mantle upgrade. The same guide lists two decoration slots, sized ② and ①, for the upgraded mantle. See the guide’s upgrade and equipment details.
Duration and recharge: sources disagree
The available guides agree on a 300-second recharge, but they do not agree on the mantle’s active duration. Game8 lists 120 seconds on a page last updated January 19, 2024; a Steam Community beginner guide lists 90 seconds, with no publication date displayed in the search result. Neither source explains whether the difference comes from version, upgrade state, or another condition, and the cited evidence does not resolve it.

If exact timing matters for a hunt, check the mantle’s behavior in the game version you are playing rather than assuming either listed duration applies in every case.
