Tencent’s investment in Ubisoft’s new games subsidiary is complete: Ubisoft said on November 21, 2025, that Tencent’s €1.16 billion investment had closed. The subsidiary, Ubisoft Nova SAS, is known as Vantage Studios and is built around Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. Tencent received an approximately 25% economic interest in the subsidiary—not ownership of those franchises themselves.
How much did Tencent invest in Ubisoft?
Ubisoft announced an agreement on March 27, 2025, for Tencent to invest €1.16 billion in the new subsidiary in exchange for an approximately 25% economic interest. Ubisoft confirmed completion on November 21, 2025. The company’s closing announcement also stated a €3.8 billion pre-money enterprise value for Vantage Studios. That valuation and the €1.16 billion investment are different measures; the latter is the stated cash investment, while the former is the company’s pre-investment enterprise valuation.
What is Vantage Studios?
Vantage Studios is the name Ubisoft gave to the new subsidiary, legally identified in the closing announcement as Ubisoft Nova SAS. Ubisoft announced the studio’s launch on October 1, 2025, and described it as centered on three of the company’s major franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six.
Which games and franchises are part of the deal?
The subsidiary is built around the three named franchises, rather than a list of individual games or specific installments. Ubisoft’s March announcement said its plans included investment in higher-quality narrative solo experiences, expanded multiplayer offerings with more frequent content, free-to-play touchpoints, and more social features. These were announced as intended directions, not guarantees about particular releases or evidence of results after closing.

Does Tencent own Assassin’s Creed?
No. Ubisoft described Tencent’s stake as an approximately 25% economic interest in the subsidiary. The announcements do not say that Tencent acquired ownership of the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, or Rainbow Six franchises. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot described Tencent as a “minority shareholder in our new subsidiary, Vantage Studios” when confirming the deal’s close.
Why did Ubisoft bring in Tencent?
When Ubisoft announced the agreement, it said the investment was intended to strengthen its balance sheet, reduce consolidated net debt, accelerate its transformation, and support the selected franchises. Those are Ubisoft’s stated purposes for the transaction; they do not establish what financial or creative outcomes followed.

Tencent President Martin Lau said the company saw potential for the franchises to evolve into “long-term evergreen game platforms” and create new experiences for players. That is Tencent’s view of the opportunity, not an independent assessment of future performance.
