Teostra is an Elder Dragon in Capcom’s Monster Hunter series, known for fire, intense heat, and explosive dust. Its moves and weaknesses vary by game: Capcom’s Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate spotlight describes one version of the fight, while a 2026 hands-on report covers a demo encounter in the planned Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion.
What is Teostra?
Teostra is a fictional Elder Dragon in the Monster Hunter games. Its signature threats combine fire and heat with explosive dust that can punish hunters at close range or after they commit to an attack. The exact move set and encounter details depend on the game.
What attacks does Teostra use?
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Capcom’s 2014 spotlight describes Teostra using a broad flamethrower, intense heat around its body, and explosive dust. Claw and tail swipes can spread dust that explodes later, and the article also mentions Blastblight and a powerful super-nova-style attack. These details describe Teostra in the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate context, rather than a universal move list. Capcom’s Teostra spotlight
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance demo
In a hands-on report dated September 16, 2026, PlayStation.Blog Japan’s Sachie Kobari describes a demo encounter in the Oilwell Basin. The account reports familiar charges, flame breath, and blast explosions, as well as a pattern in which Teostra rears up and slams both forelegs down. It also notes that Teostra can stay upright and pivot to track a hunter trying to circle it. These are observations from that demo build, not confirmation that every version behaves the same way. How should you approach a Teostra fight?
Adapt to the specific game and watch for the hazard cues it gives you. In the Wilds: Ascendance demo account, explosive dust signaled an impending blast, while thick oil mud in the Oilwell Basin made dodging harder. That combination made positioning and timing especially important in the reported encounter.
- Watch for dust and avoid treating a swipe that spreads it as the end of the danger.
- Do not assume circling behind Teostra is automatically safe; the demo report says it could pivot while upright to follow the hunter.
- Account for the ground underfoot. The reported oil mud impeded dodges, so a route that would normally create distance may be less reliable there.
- Check the hunter guide for the specific game before choosing an elemental matchup or build. The sources cited here do not establish a complete weakness chart, hitzone data, break list, or weapon ranking.
Where does Teostra appear in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance?
The September 16, 2026 PlayStation.Blog report describes Teostra in a demo encounter in the Oilwell Basin. It says Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance was planned as an expansion for 2027, with a new storyline, areas, monsters, actions, and Master Rank. That is the release plan stated in the dated report, not a guarantee of the eventual release date or a complete account of where Teostra can be found in the finished expansion.
