Complete the Terminus main story by building the DRI-11 Beamsmasher, freeing Nathan, restoring the network, hacking the buoys, defusing the Bio Lab bombs, and defeating Patient 13. The key detail: several puzzle answers are randomized per match, so use the clue locations below rather than copying a fixed code.

The Terminus main quest in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies follows a fixed sequence, but several of its puzzles use values randomized for your match. The reliable route is: restore power and raise Pack-a-Punch, build or obtain the DRI-11 Beamsmasher, recover the hard drive for Peck, release and defeat Nathan, restore the network, hack the buoys, defuse the Bio Lab bombs, then defeat Patient 13.

This is the map’s story Easter egg—not the music quest, boat race, or other side activities. Standard is the appropriate mode for the original completion experience and its standard rewards. Directed Mode is useful for learning the route with marked objectives and round limits; check the in-game quest/reward panel before starting if reward eligibility matters, since that can change by live update.

Quick route

  1. Restore power and raise the Bio Lab Pack-a-Punch platform.
  2. Build or acquire the DRI-11 Beamsmasher.
  3. Use it on the correct Tentacle Trap, then deliver the hard drive to Peck.
  4. Find Nathan’s three randomized code digits, release him, and defeat him.
  5. Collect the underwater Key Card and repair the network with Node Connectors.
  6. Take Peck’s Hacking Device to the marked buoys by boat.
  7. Defuse the three Bio Lab bombs.
  8. Enter the final arena and defeat Patient 13.

Prepare the map before beginning

Open the route toward the Bio Lab and activate the final Aetherium Maturation Pod. This raises the submerged platform and makes the Bio Lab Pack-a-Punch machine available. Getting the power online early also gives you access to Perks, which makes the middle and late quest far less fragile.

There is no single mandatory loadout, but do not treat the boss fight as something to enter with an underbuilt weapon. Before the finale, aim to have a well-upgraded main weapon, armor, useful Perks, ammunition, and at least a few panic options such as tactical equipment, scorestreak/support items, or crowd-control tools. If resources permit, improving a weapon to Rare or better before its first Pack-a-Punch upgrade is a sensible early investment—not a quest requirement.

1. Get the DRI-11 Beamsmasher

You may receive the DRI-11 Beamsmasher from a random source such as the Mystery Box, but that is not a dependable walkthrough step. The build quest guarantees the weapon.

Guaranteed Beamsmasher build

  1. Apply the Dead Wire Ammo Mod to a weapon.
  2. Ride the Bio Lab Pack-a-Punch lift. Shoot the electrical boxes in the required sequence, then shoot the boxes in Living Quarters and the Rec Yard. This opens the Research Office.
  3. In the Research Office, kill the pinned zombie to obtain the EMF Fob.
  4. At Sea Tower, use the Fob to open the hand-held briefcase and take the Multiphasic Resonator.
  5. Place the Resonator in the Research Office terminal. Activate the three laptops and solve the terminal puzzle.
  6. Complete the colored-orb and charged-zombie sequence to receive AMP Munition.
  7. Use the Research Office workbench to assemble the DRI-11 Beamsmasher.

How to solve the Research Office terminal puzzle

Do not use a fixed internet code: the terminal combination is randomized each match. The laptop screens show symbols. Convert those symbols to numerical values with the Research Office whiteboard, then substitute the values into the room’s equations to calculate the X, Y, and Z code for that game.

If your squad wants to skip the arithmetic, Peck can provide the solution for 5,000 Essence. That shortcut costs resources but avoids losing a round to a puzzle mistake.

2. Get the hard drive and release Nathan

Return to the Bio Lab with the Beamsmasher. Fire its standard shot along the tentacles of the correct purchasable Tentacle Trap. The trap drops a hard drive. Put that hard drive into the drop box beside Peck and wait for the relevant dialogue before going back to Nathan’s containment area.

Read Nathan’s code in the correct order

The three values are not a universal code. Read them in this exact location order:

  1. Interrogation Rooms: read the small/hour hand on the clock.
  2. Mess Hall: read the value of the playing card displayed on the board.
  3. Engineering: read the number on the days-since-last-injury board beside the crafting bench.

Enter those three digits at Nathan’s unit. In co-op, the relief valves must be activated together, so call the interaction before anyone starts it. Nathan becomes an HVT Amalgam. Clear space, keep moving, and focus him down; after he dies, watch the short cutscene before continuing.

3. Recover the Key Card and repair the network

After the Nathan sequence, dive beneath the Bio Lab on the Pack-a-Punch side. Pick up the glowing Key Card from the underwater floor, then take it to the terminal with green text upstairs in Communications.

The terminal reports a network problem and starts the Node Connector section. Expect it to take time; this is a transport-and-defense objective, not a quick pickup.

  1. Retrieve Node Connectors from the wrecked ship.
  2. Install them at the required locations: Crab Island, Sea Tower, and Sea Caves.
  3. Return to Peck’s drop box after the network is restored and collect the Hacking Device.

The required connector count and handling can vary with squad context. Picking one up starts a lockdown, and its carrier cannot sprint. Clear the immediate area before lifting it, let teammates escort the carrier, and avoid taking a connector through a dense spawn route without a plan.

4. Hack the buoys

Take a boat out to the marked buoys and use the Hacking Device on them in sequence. After the first successful hack, move promptly to the next marker. A giant tentacle can pressure the boat, so squads are safer when they divide jobs: one player drives, one performs the hack, and the others clear enemies or watch for incoming threats.

Solo players should prioritize a clean approach over trying to fight every zombie at sea. Finish the interaction, relocate as needed, and do not let the boat sit exposed longer than the objective requires.

5. Defuse the Bio Lab bombs

Return to the Bio Lab. Entering the area begins the bomb sequence and its reported five-minute countdown. Defuse all three bombs before it expires.

  • Each defuse interaction takes 10 seconds.
  • Progress on a bomb is retained if you must step away to survive.
  • In solo, enter with crowd-control equipment ready because the timer begins when you enter the Bio Lab.

A good solo rhythm is to start a bomb only after thinning the immediate horde, interrupt only when necessary, then resume that same bomb rather than repeatedly abandoning fresh progress. In a squad, one player can interact while the rest create a safe pocket around them.

6. Beat Patient 13

The final entrance is beside Melee Macchiato in the Pack-a-Punch room. Use this as your last checkpoint to buy armor, ammo, Perks, and anything you can still afford. Once you enter, Patient 13 is a three-phase encounter with regular zombies and potentially dangerous special enemies in the arena.

Early phases: hit the exposed weak points

During the first two phases, attack Patient 13’s exposed orange/red arm or shoulder weak points. Dodge its arm attacks, stay mobile, and use the intermissions to clear the enemies building in the arena. The boss leaves at approximately the two-thirds and one-third health gates; a Max Ammo is reported after each intermission, but keep enough ammunition and equipment to survive until you reach it.

Late phase: respect the blue wipe attack

In the final phase, Patient 13 glows blue and can use a lethal blue wipe attack. When it begins, jump into the central water or break line of sight. Do not remain exposed and attempt to out-damage the attack.

Arena discipline that prevents most wipes

  • Keep moving; do not let regular enemies form a wall between you and cover.
  • Use the arena ammo chest deliberately rather than waiting until you are completely dry.
  • Prioritize special enemies when they begin to accumulate.
  • Use cover and the water as situational tools. Neither is a permanently safe place.
  • Save high-impact equipment for moments when adds, specials, and boss pressure overlap.

Weapon balance and equipment interactions can change with patches, so treat any claim that one gun, Ammo Mod, augment, or support item is universally “best” with caution. A fully upgraded weapon you can consistently use while moving is more valuable than copying an unverified build.

What you receive for completion

Defeating Patient 13 completes the Terminus main quest and triggers the ending cutscene. Reported completion rewards include the Trophy Collector Maya Operator Skin and the Terminus Quest Complete calling card. An early calling-card variant was associated with completing the quest before Directed Mode released; regard that as historical or limited unless the current live reward panel explicitly says otherwise.

Common failure points

Problem What to do
The Beamsmasher terminal code will not match a guide. Use the match’s laptop symbols, the Research Office whiteboard, and its equations. The code is randomized.
Nathan’s code is rejected. Recheck the clue order: Interrogation Rooms clock hour hand, Mess Hall card, then Engineering injury-board number.
The Node Connector run becomes overwhelming. Clear the pickup lockdown first. The carrier cannot sprint, so assign escorts and avoid forcing a lone carrier through a crowded path.
The bomb timer starts before you are ready. It begins when you enter the Bio Lab. Stock crowd control before crossing in, especially in solo.
The final phase kills the squad suddenly. Watch for Patient 13 glowing blue. Immediately use the central water or break line of sight.

Buying the game physically

If you are purchasing the game specifically for a PS5, look for the Call of Duty Black Ops 6 PS5 physical edition. The PS5 disc is PS5-only and is not cross-gen. Xbox players should choose the Xbox Cross-Gen physical edition instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to build the DRI-11 Beamsmasher?

No. It can appear from random sources such as the Mystery Box, but the Research Office build quest is the dependable way to get it for the Terminus main story.

Are the Terminus puzzle codes always the same?

No. Both the Beamsmasher terminal solution and Nathan’s three-digit code use match-specific values. Use the clue locations and calculations in your current game.

Should I do the quest in Standard or Directed Mode?

Standard is the original completion route. Directed Mode is useful for learning with marked objectives and round caps, but check the live in-game quest/reward panel for current reward eligibility.

How do I survive Patient 13’s blue attack?

Jump into the central water or break line of sight immediately. Remaining exposed to the blue wipe attack can be lethal.

The Bottom Line

For a clean Terminus run, solve only the values generated in your match, build the DRI-11 Beamsmasher through its guaranteed route, and enter Patient 13 with upgraded gear and a planned response to the blue wipe attack.
