What are secret seeds in Terraria?
A world seed is a string that determines how Terraria generates a world. Entering a special seed can produce a world with altered generation or gameplay rules. These seeds are optional variations, not separate game modes that every player must use.

How to use a secret seed
The reliable general approach is to create a world and enter or select its seed during world creation. Menu labels and exact steps are not established uniformly for Desktop, Console, and Mobile, so follow the controls shown by your installed version rather than assuming a platform-independent sequence.
On Desktop, the World Seed reference says version 1.4.5.4 added a Secret Seeds button and a menu for toggling unlocked secret seeds on and off. That is a Desktop-specific version note; it does not establish the same menu on Console or Mobile. See the World Seed reference for the feature context.

The history also reports later changes to several seeds, so an addition version should not be read as a complete description of how that seed behaves today. These dates are Desktop version notes, not confirmation of matching Console or Mobile release timing. The Special world seeds page is the cited reference for the history.
