Players could earn in-game vehicle cosmetics through quests and challenges, with some items eligible for use in both games. The launch also prompted visible criticism, including reported calls to target the truck in Fortnite. The event and shop dates have passed; the announcements do not establish that the items are currently available.
What the Cybertruck collaboration included
The Cybertruck was digital game inventory, not a physical-product offer. Each game tied its rewards to a Summer Road Trip event, but the routes and reward lists differed.
| Game | How players earned items | Items announced | Cross-game details and dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fortnite | Nine quests across Fortnite modes. | The Tesla Cybertruck Bundle included a Cybertruck Car Body, CyberCamo, Matte Black, Stainless Steel and OMG decals, plus Cyber Wheels. The Beast Mode Boost was also a reward. The Baja Off-Road decal was event-exclusive. | Epic said the bundle items and Beast Mode Boost were eligible for cross-game ownership with Rocket League. The bundle and boost were scheduled for the Fortnite Shop beginning August 6, 2024. Fortnite’s July 23, 2024 announcement |
| Rocket League | Three challenges, running July 23 through August 6, 2024: play online matches with Cyber Wheels equipped, then with Beast Mode Boost, and finally in a party. | Rewards included the Cybertruck car body, decals, wheels, boost, a Starlink and Traction Board topper, and Cybertruck engine audio. | The car body, decals, boost and wheels were eligible for shared ownership with Fortnite. Most Summer Road Trip rewards were scheduled for the item shop August 7–21, 2024; the Baja Off-Road decal was event-exclusive. Rocket League’s July 22, 2024 announcement |
Those shop windows and event dates are historical, not confirmation of current stock. Epic’s announcements describe what was offered and when, but do not disclose financial terms or establish that Tesla paid Epic.
Which items could be used in both games?
Cross-game eligibility applied to selected items, not every Cybertruck-related item or every car item in Rocket League. Epic’s announcements identified the Fortnite bundle items and Beast Mode Boost as eligible for cross-game ownership, while Rocket League specified its car body, decals, boost and wheels. The reward lists also included items without an announced shared-ownership claim, such as Rocket League’s topper and engine audio.

How to check whether a Rocket League item works in Fortnite

Why can’t I see the Cybertruck in my Fortnite Locker?
Check the vehicle category rather than looking only in the sports car section. Epic Support directs players to Cars → SUV/Truck → Car Body; the Cybertruck does not appear under Sportscar. Epic Support: finding the Cybertruck in your Locker

Why didn’t I receive a cross-game vehicle?
For a missing shared vehicle, Epic Support recommends confirming that the Rocket League account is linked to the Epic Games account, then launching Rocket League on the platform where the item was earned or purchased. Epic also cautions that not all Rocket League car items are shared, and some vehicle variants may appear in Fortnite as a base version. Epic Support: missing cross-game vehicles

Some called for the in-game truck to be destroyed on sight. PC Gamer’s report on the reaction
That supports describing a visible backlash, not claiming that most players opposed the collaboration. The report does not quantify overall player sentiment or establish an effect on sales or engagement.
