Zenith is the strongest overall weapon pick in vanilla Terraria, but “strongest” depends on class, encounter, and how much effort you are willing to spend obtaining and supporting a weapon. This is an editorial ranking of practical combat value—not a measured DPS leaderboard. It considers damage potential, consistency, reach, resource demands, class role, and progression cost. Item balance and availability can vary by platform and game version, so check the relevant version’s item details if you are playing an older release.
How this ranking works
Terraria does not have one weapon that is best for every character and situation. A weapon’s value depends on what it can hit, how reliably it deals damage, whether it consumes mana or ammunition, how it fits a class build, and how difficult it is to acquire. The order below is therefore a practical editorial ranking, not an official ranking or the result of comparable DPS testing.

The 10 strongest weapons
1. Zenith
Best overall. The Official Terraria Wiki calls Zenith “the most powerful endgame melee weapon in the game.” Its reach and ability to attack across a broad area make it a compelling all-purpose endgame choice. The trade-off is its long acquisition chain: it is crafted from swords gathered through progression, so its strength comes only after substantial effort. See the Official Terraria Wiki’s Zenith crafting guide.

2. Terraprisma
Summon-class standout. The Official Terraria Wiki describes Terraprisma as “widely considered the strongest summon weapon due to its high performance in any situation.” Its defining drawback is access: obtaining it requires defeating the Empress of Light during the day, a demanding challenge. It belongs near the top for players built around summoning, even though its practical value is class-specific. Terraprisma details are on the Official Terraria Wiki.
3. Last Prism
Magic-class damage peak. The Last Prism is described as having one of the highest base DPS levels in the game, but it rapidly consumes mana. That makes mana support and encounter length central to its practical performance: a high damage ceiling does not guarantee sustained output without resources. Its ranking reflects its exceptional potential, not a claim that it outperforms every other weapon in every fight. Read the Last Prism reference.
Rank #2
- Classic Terraria gameplay now with console specific control system, and a friendly crafting/item interface.
- Online multiplayer with you to 8 players! Split-screen multiplayer 2-4 players.
- New Enemies and Final Boss, as well as Ultimate Weapons, new Armors and Pets never seen before!
- Hundreds of weapons, armor and other items to craft, with character advancement.
- Over 25 different block types to build whatever you imagine!
4. Meowmere
Powerful Moon Lord drop. Meowmere is one of the swords used in Zenith’s crafting progression and is itself a strong endgame option. The Official Terraria Wiki’s Zenith guide lists a 20% Moon Lord drop chance. That rate matters when weighing how practical the weapon is to obtain; it is not a measure of damage or a guarantee of how many attempts a player will need. The Zenith crafting guide lists the drop information.
5. Influx Waver
Event-gated melee option. The Zenith crafting guide lists Influx Waver as a Martian Saucer drop with a 1/6 chance. Its place here reflects its endgame role and the fact that it is a component in Zenith’s progression, balanced against the need to reach and farm the Martian event. The cited chance is a drop rate, not a guarantee of a drop after a fixed number of defeats. See the Official Terraria Wiki’s Zenith crafting guide.
Rank #3
6. S.D.M.G.
Ranged contender. S.D.M.G. is a notable late-game ranged weapon to consider for a character invested in ranged damage. This ranking includes it to represent that class among endgame choices, but the available evidence does not establish a measured comparison against the weapons above or a universal placement.
7. Star Wrath
Melee option with broad attack coverage. Star Wrath is another endgame melee contender. It is worth considering when evaluating high-tier melee choices beyond Zenith, but this ranking does not claim a verified damage or consistency advantage over the other listed weapons.

- Dig!: Gather, transform, and utilize raw materials as you explore an assortment of distinct biomes and structures. Each world is unique, so you never know what you will find!
- Fight!: Wield a vast arsenal of weaponry and armor - from swords to magic spells to firearms and beyond - as you triumph over the enemy hordes that are intent on your destruction!
- Build!: Construct the world you desire! From simple dwellings to immense fortresses to intricate machinery, the choice is yours! Become the architect of your very own world!
8. Terrarian
Yo-yo-class endgame choice. Terrarian represents a distinct melee play style among the endgame options. Its inclusion acknowledges that the strongest practical weapon for a player may depend on weapon type and build; the available sources do not substantiate a precise cross-class ranking for it.
9. Celebration Mk2
Ranged explosive option. Celebration Mk2 is a high-end ranged contender to weigh against other endgame weapons. Its position is indicative rather than a conclusion from controlled testing; encounter and build differences can change which weapon is more useful.
10. Lunar Flare
Magic-class alternative. Lunar Flare rounds out the list as another endgame magic choice. The Last Prism has the clearest documented case here for exceptional base DPS, while this entry is included as a notable alternative rather than a proven tenth-place result.

| What you want | Best-supported pick | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| One overall endgame target | Zenith | Its crafting chain is extensive and requires progression through many swords. |
| A summon-focused peak | Terraprisma | Its daytime Empress of Light acquisition condition is exceptionally difficult. |
| Very high magic damage potential | Last Prism | Rapid mana consumption can limit sustained use. |
| Strong weapons before Zenith | Meowmere or Influx Waver | Both involve boss or event farming; their listed drop chances are 20% and 1/6, respectively, according to the Official Terraria Wiki’s Zenith guide. |
If you are choosing for a specific boss, class setup, or platform version, treat this as a shortlist rather than a universal damage order. Target mobility, attack range, mana or ammunition support, and how often you can keep the weapon on target can matter more than a broad ranking.
