For most Minecraft: Java Edition players, start with Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore, and JEI. That combination improves rendering performance, game logic, memory use, and recipe discovery without turning vanilla Minecraft into a different game. Add Iris for shaders, Xaero’s World Map for exploration, or Create and Farmer’s Delight if you want deeper building, automation, and survival systems.
This guide is specifically for Minecraft: Java Edition on PC, not Bedrock Edition. If you do not yet own the game, the current PC package is sold as Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition for PC. Mod availability depends on the Minecraft version and loader you choose, so the list below is a set of recommendations—not a promise that all 15 can be installed together in one instance.
What makes these the best Minecraft mods?
“Best” here means the mods offer unusually broad usefulness, solve a clear problem, add distinctive content, or have strong current-support signals. It does not mean every mod is objectively superior, that every project supports the newest Minecraft release, or that download numbers prove stability.

Before downloading anything, choose your Minecraft version and mod loader. Current project pages divide support among older releases such as 1.20.1 and 1.21.x and newer 26.1 and 26.2-era releases. Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt are not interchangeable, and a mod may support one loader while lacking a build for another.
Quick comparison
| # | Mod | Best for | Typical installation role | Main caution |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sodium | Rendering performance | Client | Match both version and loader |

| 14 | AppleSkin | Food and saturation information | Mostly client | Accurate server values may require server installation |
| 15 | Alex’s Mobs | Wildlife and adventure | Client and server | Original and unofficial continuation have different support |
1. Sodium — best overall performance mod
Sodium is the best default recommendation for a new client installation. It redesigns important parts of Minecraft’s rendering process to target higher frame rates, less micro-stutter, and fewer rendering problems while preserving the game’s familiar visual style.

It is especially useful on systems that meet Minecraft’s requirements but struggle when render distance, particle effects, or busy bases push the game harder. Current project information lists Fabric and NeoForge builds for recent Minecraft lines, including 26.1 and 26.2-era releases. The 0.9.x line also includes early Vulkan support, making exact version matching more important for players testing the newest releases.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Best for: almost every client-side installation.
Important limitation: a Fabric Sodium jar is not automatically valid for NeoForge, and a build for one Minecraft version should not be assumed to work on another. Install the exact combination shown on the project page.
2. Lithium — best game-logic optimization
Lithium works on the parts of Minecraft that are easy to overlook when discussing FPS: physics, mob AI, block ticking, and other simulation systems. It aims to preserve vanilla mechanics while making those systems more efficient.
That makes Lithium valuable in single-player worlds with farms, villagers, redstone, and large numbers of entities. It can also improve server tick performance. Lithium supports client, server, and combined installations across Fabric, NeoForge, and Quilt, and it can be installed on a server without requiring every connecting client to have it.
Best for: entity-heavy bases, farms, technical worlds, and multiplayer servers.
Important limitation: Lithium is not simply an FPS booster. If your problem is GPU-bound rendering, Sodium is the more direct fix; if the game feels slow because the simulation is falling behind, Lithium is more relevant.
3. FerriteCore — best memory optimization
FerriteCore reduces Minecraft’s memory use through several technical optimizations. The difference is most noticeable in large modpacks, installations with many blocks and items, and systems that cannot comfortably dedicate large amounts of RAM to Minecraft.
It supports Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt across current and older Minecraft versions. Unlike a fixed performance promise, FerriteCore’s results depend on what else is installed. A large content-heavy pack may benefit much more than an almost-vanilla instance.
Best for: large modpacks, lower-memory computers, and modded servers.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchImportant limitation: do not advertise or expect one universal percentage reduction in memory use. The mod’s effect depends on the rest of the pack and the Minecraft version.
4. Iris Shaders — best shader loader
Iris provides a modern way to load many existing OptiFine shader packs without making OptiFine the foundation of the installation. It supports Fabric, NeoForge, and Quilt and is listed for current releases through the 26.2-era versions.
Used with Sodium, Iris can provide dramatically better lighting, shadows, water, clouds, and atmosphere while keeping a broadly familiar Minecraft interface. Shader compatibility is still pack-specific, however. Some shader features may be unavailable, visually incorrect, or too demanding for a particular graphics card.
Best for: players who want improved lighting and atmosphere.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Important limitation: Iris loads shaders; it does not make demanding shaders lightweight. Begin with a modest shader preset, then raise quality settings one at a time.
5. Entity Culling — best hidden-entity performance boost
Entity Culling uses asynchronous visibility checks to avoid rendering mobs and block entities that are hidden behind walls, terrain, or other structures. A storage room full of chests, a villager hall, or a decorative base can therefore become cheaper for the client to render.
The mod is client-side and does not need to be installed on a multiplayer server. It skips rendering rather than changing simulation, so hidden mobs should continue behaving and farms should continue operating even when those entities are not visible on your screen.
Best for: bases with many chests, villagers, decorative blocks, mobs, or contraptions.
Rank #2
- Comes with 4x pre-installed PWM-controlled 120mm ARGB fans, ensuring adaptable airflow and vibrant lighting with daisy-chain connectivity for easy setup.
- Integrated 26-LED ARGB strip offers full spectrum color control and synchronization with motherboard software, enhancing both visibility and aesthetics.
- Supports ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX, and back-connect ATX or Micro-ATX motherboards for cleaner routing and flexible builds
- Each side panel features a tool-less mounting mechanism for easy and fast access to internal components, streamlining your build process.
- Fits high-end hardware with support for GPUs up to 420mm, CPU coolers up to 178mm, and a top radiator up to 360mm
Important limitation: unusual animated blocks or entities can sometimes be incorrectly treated as hidden. If something important disappears, use the mod’s configuration and whitelist the affected object.
6. Distant Horizons — best long-distance scenery
Distant Horizons generates lower-detail distant terrain so you can see far beyond the normal range at which Minecraft renders full-detail chunks. It is an excellent choice for mountain ranges, enormous builds, scenic survival worlds, screenshots, and cinematic camera work.
The project describes practical viewing distances of 256 or more chunks at a lower cost than rendering every distant chunk at full detail. That does not make the process free: generating and maintaining distant terrain can put pressure on the CPU, GPU, storage, and RAM. Current releases list Fabric and NeoForge support for recent Minecraft versions.
Best for: scenery, exploration, large landscapes, and screenshots.
Important limitation: configure it gradually. Long-distance terrain generation can be demanding, and shader compatibility is limited to combinations that the project and shader pack support.
7. Just Enough Items (JEI) — best recipe browser
JEI is one of the most useful additions to any modpack. It provides searchable item lists, recipes, item uses, mod-name searches, and recipe transfer. Instead of searching the web every time a mod introduces an unfamiliar machine or ingredient, you can inspect the relevant recipe in-game.
It is particularly valuable with Create, cooking mods, technical progression packs, and any installation containing hundreds of items. JEI supports Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge across a wide range of versions.
There is an important multiplayer detail: for Minecraft 1.21.2 and later, recipes are stored on the server. A client installation may show some information, but server installation can be required for complete recipe synchronization. On a modded server, the server operator should therefore check JEI’s instructions for the chosen version and loader.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Best for: nearly every modpack, especially technical and recipe-heavy packs.
Important limitation: JEI does not make incompatible mods compatible. Select the correct build for both the loader and game version.
8. Xaero’s World Map — best exploration map
Xaero’s World Map creates a fullscreen map that fills in as you explore. It works in single-player, multiplayer, and Realms, can display waypoints, and can maintain separate maps for different worlds and dimensions. It also integrates with Xaero’s Minimap if you use both projects.
The mod is mostly client-side. Server installation is optional for certain world-identification features, so a player can often use it without asking a server owner to modify the server.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBest for: large worlds, multiplayer communities, locating builds, and finding your way back to previously visited areas.
Important limitation: the map records terrain that you explore. It does not reveal unexplored terrain by magic, and it does not replace a backup or a waypoint plan.
9. Waystones — best travel utility
Waystones adds craftable teleportation points, warp scrolls, warp stones, and configurable rules for fast travel. It is a practical solution for cooperative survival worlds where players have several bases, farms, villages, or dimensional projects spread far apart.
It supports Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge on current versions. The project requires Balm and, on Minecraft 26.1 and newer, Shogi for configurable warp requirements.
Best for: cooperative survival, long-running worlds, adventure maps, and bases separated by large distances.
Rank #3
- FRAME Modular Case System - The revolutionary FRAME system gives new meaning to the word customization. Want to upgrade the motherboard tray to billet aluminum? Want to swap out your front I/O panel for more USB ports? Now you can. A case that can change and grow with your needs (or just your mood). The options are nearly limitless
- 3x CORSAIR RS ARGB PWM Fans - High-performance fans pre-installed in the front of case. Support daisy-chainable 4-pin PWM connections and Zero RPM mode for near-silent operation at low loads. Each Fan has eight LEDs and easily controllable with your motherboard’s +5V ARGB connector
- CORSAIR InfiniRail Fan Mounting System - This steel multi-point mounting system offers unmatched flexibility in front and roof fan configuration. Simply slide the rail to mount fans up to 200mm (140mm in the roof) wherever you like, ensuring targeted airflow
- Clean Lines or Turbo Cooled - The internal side panel near the motherboard tray can be used as a cable cover for clean cable management, or you can remove it and mount fans to the side for increased cooling potential
- 3D Y-Pattern Airflow Panel - Optimized for high airflow and minimal restriction, the steel front panel is perforated in three dimensions with a Y-pattern that provides a low-obstruction path for cool air
Important limitation: teleportation can substantially change survival progression. Decide whether warps should cost experience, items, or another resource before enabling unrestricted travel. Also check dependencies before adding Waystones to an existing pack.
10. Create — best automation and engineering mod
Create turns engineering into a visible, hands-on building system. It adds animated mechanical components, machines, belts, shafts, moving structures, transport systems, rail systems, and player-designed contraptions. Its in-game Ponder system provides visual explanations of many mechanics, which makes the mod easier to learn than its machinery-filled screenshots might suggest.
Create is a strong choice for players who want factories, automated farms, mechanical doors, elevators, processing lines, or elaborate moving builds. JEI is also recommended because the vanilla recipe book does not fully explain Create’s recipes.
Best for: automation, factories, rail networks, farms, and engineering-focused builds.
Important limitation: Create is not a universal latest-version recommendation. Current project information lists Forge and NeoForge support for Minecraft 1.18.2 through 1.21.1, so choose a supported Minecraft release rather than assuming a build exists for 26.1 or 26.2.
11. Farmer’s Delight — best farming and cooking expansion
Farmer’s Delight expands survival food and farming without abandoning Minecraft’s generally recognizable style. It adds meals, improved soil, tools, weapons, decorations, and food-processing blocks that make farming and cooking more involved than planting wheat and eating bread.
It fits especially well in cozy survival worlds, role-playing builds, village projects, and packs that want food to matter without introducing an entirely different technology tree. AppleSkin is a useful companion because it exposes food, hunger, saturation, and exhaustion information.
Best for: farming bases, cooking, role-playing, and vanilla-plus survival.
Important limitation: its current supported range is narrower than that of several optimization mods. The current project page lists Forge and NeoForge support for Minecraft 1.18.2 through 1.21.1, so confirm the exact release before building a pack around it.
12. Biomes O’ Plenty — best large biome expansion
Biomes O’ Plenty adds more than 50 additional biomes, along with trees, flowers, plants, building blocks, and content for the Overworld, Nether, and End. It is one of the strongest choices for players who want a fresh world to feel meaningfully different without replacing Minecraft’s basic identity.
Builders gain new palettes, explorers gain more landscapes, and survival players get a reason to travel beyond the nearest familiar plains and forests. Current project information lists Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge support through current releases, but dependencies vary by version. These can include GlitchCore and, for certain older releases, TerraBlender or Fabric API.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Best for: new worlds, exploration, builders, and biome variety.
Important limitation: install world-generation mods before creating a new world whenever possible. Adding or removing Biomes O’ Plenty later can produce uneven terrain, missing blocks, or borders between old and new generation. Back up an existing world first.
13. Supplementaries — best vanilla-plus content
Supplementaries fills gaps in vanilla Minecraft with functional and decorative additions. Examples include jars, signposts, faucets, weather vanes, spring launchers, sconces, planters, lights, and automation-related blocks. These additions are useful without forcing the entire game into a radically different technology or magic system.
It is a particularly good fit for builders who want small interactive details: a more convincing workshop, a better-looking farm, a functional storage area, or a base with extra utility blocks that still look like they belong in Minecraft.

14. AppleSkin — best food-information HUD
AppleSkin adds information that vanilla Minecraft normally hides. It can show food values in item tooltips, visualize hunger and saturation, display exhaustion-related information, and improve the HUD’s explanation of what eating an item will do.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
It does not add food, change hunger mechanics, or make meals stronger. Its value is transparency: survival players can plan meals more accurately, technical players can compare food sources, and Farmer’s Delight users can understand the results of a much larger menu.
Best for: survival, hardcore, food planning, and cooking-focused modpacks.
Important limitation: AppleSkin mostly operates client-side, but the project notes that server installation is needed for accurate saturation and exhaustion values. On multiplayer servers, verify the server-side requirement for the selected version.
15. Alex’s Mobs — best creature expansion
Alex’s Mobs adds dozens of real-world and fictional creatures with distinct behaviors, drops, mechanics, and uses. The original project describes 89 mobs, giving exploration, oceans, caves, and other environments a stronger sense of life than vanilla Minecraft alone.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
It is a good fit for adventure-focused players who want wildlife to be more than ambient decoration. New creatures can create new encounters, resources, and reasons to explore, although the exact experience depends on the Minecraft version and the rest of the pack.
Best for: exploration, wildlife variety, adventure, and more active environments.
Important limitation: version availability is less straightforward than it is for Sodium or Lithium. The original project primarily lists Forge and NeoForge support around Minecraft 1.20.1. A separate project called Alex’s Mobs Continued targets newer 26.1 and 26.2-era versions, but it is an unofficial continuation and should not be presented as the original project. Verify the maintainer, dependencies, loader, and version before installing.
How to choose a compatible mod installation
- Choose the Minecraft version first. Do not begin by downloading individual mods. Decide whether your instance will use a supported release such as 1.20.1, 1.21.x, 26.1, or 26.2, then verify every project against that release.
- Choose Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge next. Fabric Loader is a Java Edition mod-loading system. NeoForge is a separate Minecraft modding API and documentation project. Their jars and dependency systems are not automatically interchangeable. Quilt is another option supported by some projects, including Lithium, FerriteCore, Iris, and selected other mods.
- Check the loader column for every mod. Sodium’s current builds, for example, should be selected specifically for Fabric or NeoForge. Create and Farmer’s Delight have a more limited current range, while Supplementaries warns that some Fabric features may be missing.
- Install every required dependency. Waystones requires Balm and needs Shogi on Minecraft 26.1 and newer for configurable warp requirements. Supplementaries requires Moonlight Library. Biomes O’ Plenty may require GlitchCore, TerraBlender, or Fabric API depending on the selected version.
- Use a separate test instance. Keep Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge installations separate. Add a few mods at a time rather than dropping all 15 into one folder. This makes a missing dependency or incompatible jar much easier to identify.
- Test with a temporary world. Confirm that the game launches, recipes appear, terrain generates correctly, and multiplayer connections work before opening your main save.
- Back up worlds before changing world generation. Biomes O’ Plenty and similar terrain mods are safest before a new world is created. Adding or removing them later can leave mismatched chunks or missing content.
- Download from the project’s official page. Use the project’s official Modrinth, CurseForge, GitHub, or developer documentation page as appropriate. Avoid unofficial reuploads and “mod packs” that bundle unknown files.
Client-side, server-side, and required on both
Installation requirements are not the same for every mod:
- Client-focused: Sodium, Iris, Entity Culling, Xaero’s World Map, and usually AppleSkin can primarily improve or change what one player sees.
- Server-capable: Lithium, FerriteCore, and JEI can have server-side roles. Lithium can improve server simulation without requiring every client to install it. JEI’s complete recipe synchronization may require the server on Minecraft 1.21.2 and later.
- Content and world changes: Waystones, Create, Farmer’s Delight, Biomes O’ Plenty, Supplementaries, and Alex’s Mobs generally need the relevant content available to both the server and connecting clients in multiplayer.
Always follow the project’s instructions for the exact version. “Client-side” does not mean “works with every server,” and “server-compatible” does not mean every client can connect without the same content mods.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Three sensible mod bundles
Lightweight performance bundle
Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore, Entity Culling, AppleSkin, and JEI. This is the strongest starting point for players who want a smoother, more informative vanilla-style game. Sodium addresses rendering, Lithium addresses simulation, FerriteCore targets memory use, and Entity Culling reduces unnecessary rendering in crowded bases. AppleSkin and JEI add information without changing the core progression.
Do not interpret this as a guaranteed FPS percentage. Minecraft performance depends on hardware, resolution, render distance, shaders, drivers, world complexity, and the rest of the mod list.
Exploration bundle
Sodium, Distant Horizons, Xaero’s World Map, Waystones, Biomes O’ Plenty, and Alex’s Mobs. This combination emphasizes distant scenery, navigation, fast travel, new terrain, and wildlife.
Recommended Free Tools
It also has the greatest compatibility risk of the three examples. Distant Horizons can require careful hardware tuning, Biomes O’ Plenty affects world generation, Waystones changes travel and progression, and Alex’s Mobs may require choosing between the original project’s older support and an unofficial continuation for newer versions. Build this bundle around one Minecraft version that every selected project actually supports.
Vanilla-plus building bundle
Sodium, Iris, JEI, Create, Supplementaries, Farmer’s Delight, and AppleSkin. This preserves Minecraft’s recognizable look while adding optional shaders, recipe discovery, mechanical construction, decoration, cooking, and food information.
Create, Farmer’s Delight, and Supplementaries have narrower or loader-specific support than the performance mods. A practical approach is to choose a shared supported version—often an established release such as 1.20.1 or a compatible 1.21.x version—and confirm every project before installation. Do not assume this entire bundle works unchanged on the newest game line.
Performance expectations and hardware
Mojang’s current system-requirements information lists an updated minimum target of 1080p at 30 FPS on Fast settings and a recommended target of 1080p at 60 FPS on Fancy settings. The requirements page notes that it was updated on July 21, 2026.

Those targets describe Minecraft’s requirements, not a guarantee that a modded installation will perform identically. Shaders, Distant Horizons, high render distances, large modpacks, heavy farms, and high-resolution resource packs can all change the workload. Sodium may improve rendering efficiency, but Iris shaders can increase GPU demand; Lithium can improve simulation, but it cannot turn a CPU-limited world into an unlimited one; FerriteCore can reduce memory pressure, but its savings vary by pack.
If a computer cannot meet the current Java Edition requirements, compatible hardware or an upgrade may help, but hardware recommendations require separate testing against the player’s resolution, budget, shader goals, and modpack size. Do not choose a graphics card or RAM amount solely because a mod page exists.
Troubleshooting common problems
The game crashes before reaching the title screen
- Confirm the Minecraft version printed in each mod’s file name or project listing.
- Confirm that every jar belongs to the selected loader.
- Check dependencies first: missing Balm, Moonlight Library, GlitchCore, TerraBlender, Shogi, or Fabric API can prevent launch depending on the version.
- Remove the last group of mods you added, then restore them one at a time.
- Do not mix an original project with an unofficial continuation unless the continuation explicitly says it is designed for that setup.
FPS is still poor
Test without shaders first. Iris can load demanding shader packs, but it cannot remove their GPU cost. Then test render distance, simulation distance, Distant Horizons settings, and resource packs separately. If the problem appears only near a busy base, Entity Culling may help with rendering while Lithium may help with simulation. If the problem affects every scene, check resolution, drivers, background programs, and hardware limits rather than adding more optimization mods blindly.
Recipes are missing or incomplete on a server
Check JEI on both sides, especially on Minecraft 1.21.2 and later, where recipes are stored on the server. A client-only installation may not receive the complete recipe set. Also verify that the content mod itself is installed on the server and that the client and server use matching versions.
Terrain looks broken after adding or removing a mod
World-generation changes are not harmless substitutions. Restore the backup if possible, and avoid testing Biomes O’ Plenty or another terrain mod on your main world. Generate a new test world with the final world-generation list instead.
An entity or animated block is invisible
Entity Culling may be making an unusual object appear hidden. Temporarily disable the mod to confirm the cause, then add the affected entity or block to its whitelist if the configuration supports it.
Waystones or another content mod refuses to load
Check the required libraries and the server configuration. Waystones requires Balm and has an additional Shogi requirement on Minecraft 26.1 and above for configurable warp requirements. Also confirm that the server and client use the same content-mod version and that the configured travel rules are valid.
Should you install all 15?
Usually, no. A smaller, coherent pack is easier to update and troubleshoot. Start with the mods that solve your actual problem:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Low FPS or stutter: Sodium, then Lithium, FerriteCore, and Entity Culling as appropriate.
- Shaders: Iris, followed by a shader pack your hardware can handle.
- Confusing recipes: JEI.
- Navigation: Xaero’s World Map and, if desired, Waystones.
- Faraway views: Distant Horizons.
- Automation: Create.
- Food and farming: Farmer’s Delight and AppleSkin.
- New terrain: Biomes O’ Plenty, installed before generating a new world.
- Decorative vanilla-plus content: Supplementaries.
- Wildlife and adventure: Alex’s Mobs, after verifying the correct project and version.
Adding mods in small groups also makes it possible to tell whether a problem comes from a loader mismatch, a missing dependency, a shader, a world-generation change, or a genuine mod conflict.
Multiplayer and server hosting considerations
Mods such as Lithium, JEI, Waystones, Create, Farmer’s Delight, Biomes O’ Plenty, Supplementaries, and Alex’s Mobs can involve the server as well as the client. If you are running a persistent multiplayer world, modded Minecraft server hosting is a separate choice from downloading client mods: verify that the provider supports the exact Minecraft version, loader, memory requirement, backups, and mod installation method you intend to use.
No hosting provider is recommended here. Availability and support change, and a host that supports Forge may not support NeoForge or a particular 26.x release. For a small local world, hosting the server yourself may be sufficient; for a persistent community, compare the technical requirements against the provider’s current documentation before committing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install all 15 Minecraft mods together?
Not necessarily. The mods support different Minecraft versions and loaders, and some have narrower version ranges than others. Create, Farmer’s Delight, Supplementaries, and the original Alex’s Mobs are especially important to verify before combining them with newer 26.1 or 26.2-era mods. Build the pack around one supported Minecraft version, then check every dependency.
Which Minecraft mods are best for FPS?
Sodium is the strongest first choice for rendering performance. Lithium helps game simulation such as mob AI and block ticking, FerriteCore targets memory use, and Entity Culling avoids rendering hidden mobs and block entities. None guarantees a specific FPS increase on every computer, and shaders or Distant Horizons can add their own workload.
Do Minecraft Java mods work on Bedrock Edition?
The mods in this guide are for Minecraft: Java Edition and its Java mod-loader ecosystem. Bedrock Edition uses a different add-on system, so a Java mod jar cannot simply be installed in Bedrock.
Should I add Biomes O’ Plenty to an existing world?
It is safest to install Biomes O’ Plenty before creating a new world. Adding or removing a world-generation mod later can produce uneven terrain, missing content, or visible borders between old and newly generated chunks. Back up any existing world before testing the change.
The Bottom Line
Start small: Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore, and JEI cover the needs of most Java Edition players. Add Iris for shaders, Xaero’s World Map for navigation, and only then choose content mods such as Create, Biomes O’ Plenty, Farmer’s Delight, Supplementaries, Waystones, or Alex’s Mobs. The best mod list is the one whose versions, loader, dependencies, and server requirements all match before you open your main world.
