This is a practical shortlist of recognizable reprints with clear deck-building or Commander appeal—not a ranking of current prices or tournament performance.
What is the Source Material bonus sheet?
Wizards of the Coast calls the bonus sheet Source Material and identifies its cards with the MAR set code. It contains 40 existing Magic cards presented with new Spider-Man comic-art treatments; they are reprints, not a separate set of newly designed cards. See Wizards’ official card list and collecting guide.
The code helps distinguish these cards from the main Spider-Man set, which uses SPM. The Source Material selections below stand out for recognizable gameplay roles and audience fit. Their art may also appeal to collectors, but visual interest is subjective and does not establish a card’s market value.
Which Source Material cards stand out?
| Card | Why it stands out | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Path to Exile | A familiar removal spell and straightforward reprint choice for players seeking a broadly useful effect. | Deck builders looking for an established removal option. |
| Counterspell | A recognizable blue interaction spell that many players will know immediately. | Blue decks that want a familiar counterspell. |
| Ponder | A well-known library-selection spell and an immediately legible playable reprint. | Players looking for a card-selection effect where it is legal. |
| Reanimate | A prominent graveyard-strategy card with appeal to players building around returning creatures. | Commander and other formats where the card is legal. |
| Opposition Agent | A memorable disruptive card with particular recognition among Commander players. | Commander players interested in disruption. |
| Goblin Bombardment | A recognizable sacrifice payoff that gives creature-sacrifice strategies a clear reason to consider it. | Decks built around sacrificing creatures. |
| Najeela, the Blade-Blossom | A standout legendary card with strong name recognition among Commander players. | Commander players considering a recognizable legendary option. |
All seven appear in Wizards’ official Source Material list. The shortlist is based on recognizable card roles and likely player interest, not verified current demand, financial value, or tournament results.

How to choose between playing and collecting
If you want a card for a deck
Start with the role your deck needs, then confirm the card is legal in the format you play. Path to Exile, Counterspell, and Ponder are recognizable interaction or selection options; Reanimate, Opposition Agent, Goblin Bombardment, and Najeela are more closely associated with particular strategies or Commander interest. A card’s inclusion on the sheet does not make it suitable for every deck.
If you want the Spider-Man treatment
The comic-art presentation may be the main attraction if you already own a card or enjoy collecting themed versions. Treat that preference separately from gameplay utility: art preference is personal, while this shortlist makes no claim about which treatment is rarest, most valuable, or most sought after.

Can you get these cards in boosters?
Wizards says each of the 40 Source Material cards appears at the same rate. A non-foil Source Material card appears in one of every 24 Play Boosters; that is an appearance rate for a Source Material card, not a guarantee of any particular name. Each Collector Booster contains a non-foil or traditional-foil Source Material card. Wizards’ collecting guide describes the collation.
Play Boosters contain cards from both SPM and MAR, according to Wizards’ release information. Boosters make sense if opening packs or drafting is part of the fun. If you want one exact card, buying that card as a single is the more targeted route; opening packs is random.

What formats are MAR cards legal in?
Wizards’ release notes state that MAR-code cards are legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage. They are also legal in another format only if a card with the same name is already permitted there. Their appearance in a Spider-Man product does not make them Standard-legal. For a time-sensitive deck decision, check Wizards’ current format and banned-list information.
These reprints are distinct from the newly designed SPM cards, which include the web-slinging mechanic. Wizards describes web-slinging as allowing a player to cast a card for a reduced cost by also returning a tapped creature they control to its owner’s hand. That mechanic is not the defining feature of the MAR reprints.
