Choose Genshin Impact for open-world exploration, Wuthering Waves for reactive action combat, or Honkai: Star Rail for turn-based team strategy. This ranking is organized by player fit—not a claim that one game is objectively best for everyone. Each entry pairs a quick recommendation with the kind of play and collection loop it offers.
How these games differ
Gacha games combine a playable game loop with a collection system in which characters, cards, or other items can be obtained through randomized chances. That means choosing one is about more than combat: consider whether you want a world to explore, short encounters, tactical battles, or a collection to build. This is a player-fit ranking synthesized from differing editorial lists, not a controlled review or universal consensus. PC Gamer, Pocket Tactics, and Insert Future emphasize different games and tastes.

| 2. Wuthering Waves | Explore and take on action encounters | Dodge, parry, and swap characters | Exploration with active encounters | Character and story progression | Randomized character or item chances are part of the free-to-play gacha model described by Insert Future |
| 3. Honkai: Star Rail | Build teams and make turn-by-turn ability choices | Turn-based; weaknesses and timing matter | Focused encounters rather than open-world roaming | Story and team-building | Randomized character or item chances are part of the free-to-play gacha model described by Insert Future |
| 4. Zenless Zone Zero | Take on commissions and progress through directed content | Action combat with assists and counters | More focused spaces than a large open map | Urban setting and character-focused presentation | Randomized character or item chances are part of the free-to-play gacha model described by Insert Future |

1. Genshin Impact: best for open-world exploration
Choose it if you want a world to roam
Genshin Impact is the broadest starting point here if you want exploration to be as important as combat. Its open world pairs elemental fighting with puzzles and a large setting to uncover. The Xbox Store describes it as “an open-world adventure RPG” and flags in-game purchases that include random items: official Xbox listing.
What to weigh before downloading
PC Gamer says daily tasks and character-material farming can feel demanding; that is the publication’s editorial experience, not a universal time measurement. Insert Future also notes the download is large, so check the current store listing and available device storage before installing. Platform availability and download size can vary by region and change over time.
#1 Best Overall
- Kisekoi Turn Around Fig Mini Figure Mascot Set Of 4 Japanese Gacha Capsule Toy
2. Wuthering Waves: best for active combat
Choose it if you want to learn enemy timing
Wuthering Waves makes the most sense if you want to react in the moment. Dodges, parries, and character swaps put the emphasis on reading enemies and executing actions, rather than selecting moves from a turn-based menu.
What to weigh before downloading
PC Gamer and Insert Future note that its terminology and storytelling may not land for every player; those are editorial judgments, not objective measures of quality. Pick it for the combat feel first if the narrative presentation is a secondary concern.
Rank #2
- Onemutan Mini Figure Vol.12 The Movie: Infinity Castle Complete Set of 5 Gacha Gachapon Capsule Toy
3. Honkai: Star Rail: best for turn-based strategy
Choose it if you prefer planning to reflexes
Honkai: Star Rail turns team composition, enemy weaknesses, and ability timing into the main combat decisions. Insert Future describes four-character teams and weakness-focused encounters, while PC Gamer notes auto-battle and flexible farming. It is a strong fit if you want tactical choices without real-time dodging and parrying.
What to weigh before downloading
Its encounters are focused rather than built around roaming a continuous open world. PC Gamer recommends it to readers looking for sessions that feel less time-intensive than its account of Genshin Impact; treat that as a reviewer’s comparison, not a guaranteed session length.
Rank #3
- The spirit of harmony Buddhist Figure Statues Vol.1 Set Of 6 Gacha Gashapon Capsel Figure Japanese
- 1. Ashura Statue (Plaster Style) 2. Maitreya Bodhisattva (Half-Seated Pose, Plaster Style) 3. Kongo Rikishi (Agyo, Standing Statue, Plaster Style) 4. Kongo Rikishi (Ungyo, Standing Statue, Plaster Style) 5. Kongo Rikishi (Agyo, Standing Statue, Standard Version) 6. Kongo Rikishi (Ungyo, Standing Statue, Standard Version)
4. Zenless Zone Zero: best for directed action encounters
Choose it if you want action without a sprawling map
Zenless Zone Zero offers a more directed route through commissions and action encounters than Genshin Impact’s open-world exploration. Insert Future highlights character assists and counters, making it a natural choice if you like switching between characters during focused fights.
What to weigh before downloading
Commissions can be short, but story segments may take longer, according to Insert Future. If you are choosing it for quick play, distinguish the combat activity from the time needed to follow the story.
Rank #4
- From the development and strategy simulation game "Dolls Front Line" comes the 416MOD3 tactical doll that boasts overwhelming popularity. A complete reproduction of equipment including an assault rifle on the right hand, a grenade launcher on the left hand, and a bag or an ID
- Scale: 1/7 Scale (Total Height: Approx. 9.8 inches (25 cm))
- (C) SUNBORN Network Co. Ltd. (C) SUNBORN Japan Co. Ltd.
5. Pokémon TCG Pocket: best for card collecting in short sessions
Choose it if opening packs and collecting art is the appeal
Pokémon TCG Pocket centers on digital card packs, collectible illustrations, and shorter card battles. Insert Future says its official site promises two free booster packs each day. That is a stated daily allowance, not a claim that every desired card is guaranteed.

What to weigh before downloading
This is the most collection-focused pick in the ranking, and its play loop differs from character-action or role-playing games. If card art and pack-opening are not appealing, its central draw may not be enough to sustain interest.

Other gacha games worth considering
Reverse: 1999 for narrative-led strategy
Reverse: 1999 is a strategic alternative with painterly presentation and a time-travel narrative, a contrast to contemporary urban settings or far-future worlds. PC Gamer’s comments on translation are reviewer opinion, so consider them a matter of taste rather than a settled verdict.
Love and Deepspace for otome romance
Love and Deepspace is a better fit if you want an otome romance and character-story loop, with collectible memories as part of its appeal. It broadens the shortlist rather than competing on the same combat or exploration criteria as the top five.
How to approach gacha spending
These games pair play with randomized chances for characters, equipment, or cards; Insert Future explicitly describes its five picks as free games that sell those chances. Whether that system feels acceptable depends on your preferences and spending habits. You can focus on the parts of a game you enjoy without trying to collect everything.

Quick Recap
- Decide in advance how much, if anything, you are willing to spend on in-game currency.
- Do not treat a purchase as a guarantee of obtaining a particular character, card, or item unless the game’s current official terms clearly say so.
- For Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, HoYoverse support says to use the official top-up centers and select the correct game account and server. See HoYoverse’s top-up instructions. Avoid unofficial currency sellers.
