If you want another cinematic horror story where a group faces danger and your choices can decide who survives, start with The Quarry. It is the closest match in this list: it comes from Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games, centers on branching ensemble horror, and supports solo or group play. If you want the same studio’s shorter, distinct horror stories, try The Dark Pictures Anthology; if you care more about consequential decisions than scares, look to Detroit: Become Human or As Dusk Falls.
What makes a game feel like Until Dawn?
Supermassive’s official page describes the 2015 Until Dawn as a story about eight friends trapped at a remote mountain retreat, with choices shaping the narrative and who survives. That combination—not simply horror—is what its closest successors share. The studio says even seemingly small decisions can shape a player’s unique story on its official Until Dawn page.

Choose what matters most to you:
- Ensemble horror and survival: The Quarry is the strongest overall fit.
- More cinematic horror from Supermassive: Pick a story from The Dark Pictures Anthology.
- Branching choices without slasher horror: Try Detroit: Become Human or As Dusk Falls.
- Atmosphere and character-led storytelling: Consider Oxenfree or The Walking Dead.
- Sci-fi survival horror: Directive 8020 takes Supermassive’s branching-story approach into space.
The closest match: The Quarry
The Quarry is the clearest next game if what you loved was a group of characters in a horror story whose fates can change with your decisions. GamesRadar+ describes it as a branching horror adventure by the developer of Until Dawn, playable solo or with friends. Its listed platforms are PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC; check the current store listing for availability on your specific platform and in your region.
It is a better first pick than a broader narrative adventure if you want the ensemble-and-horror combination. GamesRadar+’s descriptions are editorial recommendations, rather than official documentation of how every choice or play mode works.

More Supermassive horror: choose a Dark Pictures story
The Dark Pictures Anthology is a set of separate cinematic horror stories, not one continuous campaign you must finish in order. Supermassive identifies Man of Medan, Little Hope, and House of Ashes as the anthology’s first games. GamesRadar+ also recommends The Devil in Me. Pick by premise and confirm the exact game and platform in your store listing.
- Man of Medan: A natural choice if you want another group-in-peril horror setup.
- Little Hope: A separate eerie story for players who want a different setting and cast.
- House of Ashes: Another distinct horror scenario, rather than a direct continuation of the earlier games.
- The Devil in Me: A later anthology entry to consider if you want another standalone Supermassive horror story.
Supermassive’s catalog overview provides official context for The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry. The anthology recommendations and their fit for Until Dawn fans are comparative judgments, not claims that the games share characters or a single plot.

When choices matter more than horror
Detroit: Become Human
Choose Detroit: Become Human if branching outcomes and character decisions are the main attraction, but you are happy to trade slasher scares for science fiction. GamesRadar+ includes it among choice-driven alternatives; it is a thematic match for consequential storytelling, not a straight horror substitute.
As Dusk Falls
As Dusk Falls is another choice-led option, presented by GamesRadar+ as an interactive drama. It suits players who want decisions and character consequences more than a conventional horror experience.

Atmosphere and story-first alternatives
Oxenfree
Try Oxenfree for an eerie atmosphere and character-focused narrative. It offers a different scale and style from Until Dawn, so it is the better choice when mood matters more than a large ensemble horror setup.
The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead is worth considering for consequential, character-centered storytelling. Its appeal is narrative choices and emotional stakes rather than recreating Until Dawn’s particular slasher premise.

A newer sci-fi horror option: Directive 8020
Directive 8020 is a newer Supermassive game that shifts the formula toward sci-fi survival horror. Its official page describes a branching narrative and lists a 12 May 2026 launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Unlike the remote-retreat slasher setup of Until Dawn, its setting and real-time survival elements give it a different kind of tension. Check the official Directive 8020 page and your regional store listing for current release and platform details.
