Important: Mario Day 2026 was March 10, and Nintendo’s promotion has ended. Participating physical retailers ran their offers through March 14, while selected Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store discounts ended March 15 at 11:59 p.m. PT. The prices below are historical prices observed during the event, not guaranteed current deals.
Even so, the sale highlighted several games worth watching for the next Nintendo discount: Super Mario Odyssey at around $39.99 was the best all-round buy, while $29.99 prices for games such as Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury were especially strong when available.

The best Mario Day deals at a glance
Nintendo’s MAR10 Day celebration covered selected Mario games rather than the entire catalog. Retail prices varied by store, format, stock, seller, and the time checked, so a physical retailer price should not be treated as the same offer as a Nintendo eShop price.

Best Mario Day deals for the original Nintendo Switch
Best overall: Super Mario Odyssey — about $39.99
Super Mario Odyssey was not the cheapest deal, but it was arguably the safest recommendation. Its large single-player campaign, open-ended exploration, inventive worlds, and replayable challenges make it a strong fit for first-time buyers and experienced players alike.
At roughly $39.99 against a $59.99 regular price, the saving was about $20. That is a very good price for a major first-party game, even if it was not necessarily the event’s biggest percentage discount. It is the Mario game to prioritize if you want one substantial solo adventure.
Best multiplayer platformer: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury — about $29.99–$39.99
This package contains two distinctly different games. Super Mario 3D World is structured, stage-based platforming that works especially well with local multiplayer. Bowser’s Fury is more open-ended, with a connected world and a different progression style.

Reported prices ranged from about $29.99 at one retailer listing to approximately $39.99 in other coverage. At $29.99, it was one of the strongest bargains in the sale; at $39.99, it was still a good buy for groups or anyone who wants both traditional multiplayer levels and a more exploratory Mario experience.
Best RPG deal: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door — $29.99
The reported $29.99 price put Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door at roughly half its $59.99 list price. This remake is a particularly attractive purchase for fans of character-driven RPGs, turn-based battles, and dialogue-heavy adventures.
It is not an automatic recommendation for someone seeking fast platforming. Before buying, check whether the listing is a new physical copy, a digital code, or a third-party marketplace offer. Those formats can have different return policies, regional restrictions, and availability.

- New stages and fighters are joined by the combined rosters of every past Super Smash Bros. Game
- Challenge others anytime, anywhere, whether you're on the couch or on the go
- Play any way you want—locally, online, in TV mode, Tabletop mode, Handheld mode, or even with GameCube Controllers
- Fight faster and smarter with new and returning techniques, like the perfect shield and directional air dodge
- Face off in 2-4 player battles, or play against the computer
Best Luigi adventure: Luigi’s Mansion 3 — about $39.88
Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a slower puzzle-and-adventure game rather than a traditional jump-and-run Mario title. Luigi explores a haunted hotel, solves environmental puzzles, and captures ghosts with his Poltergust.

The observed $39.88 price was strong for a game with a substantial solo campaign and cooperative options. Choose it over Odyssey if you prefer exploration, puzzles, and a more deliberate pace.
Best party game: Super Mario Party Jamboree — about $39.99
Super Mario Party Jamboree made more sense at about $39.99 than at its usual $59.99 price, particularly for families and groups that regularly play together locally.
Its value depends heavily on having other people available for multiplayer. Solo players should not assume every mode will provide the same value, so this is a better group purchase than a one-person recommendation.
Best smaller puzzle game: Mario vs. Donkey Kong — $29.99
Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a compact puzzle-platformer, not a replacement for a mainline Mario adventure. Its stages focus on timing, switches, collectibles, and solving movement puzzles.

Worth considering: Mario & Luigi: Brothership — about $29.83–$29.99
Mario & Luigi: Brothership was another notable $29.99-class deal against a $59.99 regular price. It is best suited to players who want a Mario RPG with timing-based combat and a lighter tone.
Because its appeal is more specialized than Odyssey’s, the discount matters most if you already enjoy Mario RPGs. The sale price made it easier to recommend, but it should not automatically outrank the stronger all-purpose games above.
Best deal by player type
- Single-player adventure: Super Mario Odyssey.
- Multiplayer platforming: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.
- RPG: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
- Party gaming: Super Mario Party Jamboree.
- Co-op adventure: Luigi’s Mansion 3.
- Puzzle-focused play: Mario vs. Donkey Kong.
- Best $29.99 target: Any legitimate new first-party listing you already know you want.
The Switch 2 edition is a separate product
Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV was reported at about $59, down from $79.99 in one listing. This is not simply the same product as the original Nintendo Switch release: it includes features intended for Nintendo Switch 2.
If you own the original Switch, look for the standard edition unless you are planning to move to Switch 2 and specifically want its additional features. Search results can mix both versions, so check the product title, packaging, platform label, and included content before paying.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park was scheduled for March 26, 2026, but it should not be treated as a standard-Switch Mario Day discount.

During this promotion, physical copies could offer better value than the eShop. Retailers sometimes reduced first-party games to $29.99 while the corresponding digital offer was closer to $39.99 or unavailable. That advantage came with trade-offs.

- Learn more about the Lumas from additional Storybook chapters, groove to a bit of additional music
- Get additional Health and fall recovery in Assist Mode

Choose physical when:
- The new physical price is at least $10 below the eShop price.
- You may resell, lend, or trade the game later.
- You have enough storage concerns to prefer a cartridge.
- The retailer is reputable and the item is in stock.
Choose digital when:
- You want immediate access without swapping cartridges.
- You use a Switch Lite or prefer keeping games installed.
- The eShop price is equal to or lower than the physical listing.
- You have checked your Nintendo Account region and storage space.
A retailer-sold digital code is not the same as buying directly from Nintendo. Check the code’s region, seller, delivery method, and refund terms. For physical listings, distinguish new from used and first-party retail stock from marketplace sellers. Shipping, membership requirements, and stock status can also change the displayed price.

Nintendo’s 2026 celebration marked the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. and included more than game discounts. The company promoted selected physical-retail offers, Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store discounts, Mario-themed activities, and additions to Nintendo Switch Online.
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members received classic additions including Mario vs. Donkey Kong for Game Boy Advance, plus Mario Clash and Mario’s Tennis for Virtual Boy. These are subscription-based classic-game benefits, not permanent standalone purchases. Access also depends on the relevant membership and compatible Virtual Boy functionality.
The event was also tied to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which was scheduled for theatrical release on April 1, 2026. That entertainment promotion should not be confused with a Nintendo Switch game discount.
How good were the discounts?
As an editorial rule of thumb, a new $59.99 first-party game at $29.99 was an excellent deal, while $39.99 was very good for a major Nintendo release. A price around $49.99 was useful only when the game was newer or particularly desirable to you.

Those are buying guidelines, not Nintendo classifications. A cheaper game is not automatically the better purchase: Odyssey at $39.99 may deliver more value to one player than a niche title at $29.99.
Are the Mario Day deals still live?
As of August 16, 2026, the official MAR10 Day promotion has ended. Retailers may independently repeat a markdown or keep a similar price, but none of the March prices should be presented as current without checking the listing again.
Before buying, verify:
- Current price and stock.
- New versus used condition.
- Retailer or marketplace seller.
- Physical cartridge, direct eShop purchase, or digital code.
- Original Switch release versus Switch 2 edition.
- Shipping, membership, and regional-code restrictions.
For future promotions, Nintendo’s MAR10 Day event hub, Mario Day sales page, and My Nintendo Store are the places to check first. Retailer prices may still beat Nintendo’s digital price, so compare like with like.
