Which planet is best for a first outpost?
Andraphon is the strongest resource-first candidate among the locations covered here. Its listed combination of Aluminum, Iron, Beryllium, and Helium-3 gives you several materials to pursue from one world. The recommendation is a starting point, not a guarantee: deposits can be separated by biome, so you must verify that the resources you want are available together at the actual site.

Andraphon also has tradeoffs as a place to live. Game8 lists no atmosphere and solar radiation. If the outpost is mainly a home or scenic base rather than an extraction site, weigh environmental conditions more heavily than the number of resources on the planet-wide list.
Compare the early outpost candidates
The best choice depends on four factors: the resource mix you want, whether the deposits overlap within one beacon’s build range, the environment and hazards, and how practical the location is for your character’s progression.

How to find a usable outpost site
- Scan from orbit. Review the planet’s resource and environment information. The scan can help you identify a promising area before landing.
- Check resources while positioning the beacon. On the surface, open the outpost placement interface and move the beacon around while watching its “Available Resources” readout. Keep searching until the materials you want appear together within the build range.
- Confirm the site before placing the beacon. Resource patches may fall in different biomes. A planet-wide list alone does not show that the specific site covers every desired deposit.
- Build a simple extraction setup. Place extractors for the resources available at the site, add a power source suited to the world, then use storage and output links to collect production.
- Add logistics only when needed. Cargo links and crew can help when the outpost becomes part of a wider supply network; they are not prerequisites for a useful starter base.
Check construction limits and progression
Extreme conditions may restrict outpost construction until you have the relevant skill progression, and terrain or local conditions can affect placement. Check the current in-game rules and your character’s unlocks before committing to a location. The Xbox Wire outpost guide dates to September 1, 2023, and the Pure Xbox guide to September 14, 2023, so confirm exact mechanics in your current game if a restriction or requirement matters.

Outposts are optional and expandable. Xbox Wire describes functions including habitable buildings, extractors, crew management stations, and cargo links. You can begin with a small extraction loop and add housing or network features as your needs grow.
