The expansion requires the base game and launched March 6, 2025. EA’s pack announcement and product page describe the available business options.
Pick a business concept your Sim can deliver
Start with a clear offer instead of trying to make the first business do everything. The pack supports businesses built around products, services, activities, and gatherings; those concepts need not all use the same mechanics.

- Pottery: Make ceramics to sell, display, or give as gifts.
- Tattooing: Offer tattoos as a customer service, using premade designs or designs your Sim creates.
- Classes: Teach a skill or activity to attendees.
- Existing hobbies: EA lists activities such as fishing, gardening, cooking, comedy, writing, violin, video gaming, and piano as possible business foundations. EA’s feature overview also mentions concepts such as bars, pools, gyms, painting studios, and music venues.
For a first business, choose an offer that fits what your Sim already enjoys or can reliably do. That is a practical way to keep the venue coherent—not a guarantee of higher earnings. EA has not published a tested comparison showing which hobby or business model makes the most money.
Choose where the business operates
You can designate a business area on a residential lot or set up a separate Small Business Venue. A home business keeps the activity close to your Sim’s household; a dedicated venue gives the business its own location. Choose based on how you want to play, rather than assuming one location earns more.

- Develop Parenting Skills – Level up your Sim’s parenting skills to satisfy their child’s needs and influence their behaviors. Gain new abilities through experience and choosing when to discipline bad actions, encourage good behavior, or just let kids be kids.
- Shape Your Sim’s Childhood – The decisions you make influence how your Sim parents and leave a lasting impact on their child’s future. Each choice shapes their personality, affects their traits, influences their family relationships, and guides their path into adulthood.
- Gather your Sim’s family to participate in new activities and spend quality time with each other. Sims of all ages can work together to complete a variety of school projects, express their creativity using construction blocks, or volunteer their time for good.
- Customize your Sims’ looks and their home with new family fashion and build items. Give the kids’ bedrooms extra personality, remodel the kitchen to feel homier, and let your Sims express their sporty or artistic sides with new outfits.
Set customer rules around the offer
A small business can have up to five customer rules. Use rules that make sense for the activity customers came for: a pottery studio, for example, should make its purpose obvious through its setup and expectations. For a first venue, a focused concept is easier to manage than a mix of unrelated activities.
Decide how customers pay
The Ticket Kiosk supports a one-time entrance fee or a time-based, hourly charge. Businesses can also earn through selling crafts or providing services, including tattoos and classes. These are different ways to structure a business, not evidence of a best price or guaranteed profit.

- Entrance fee: Customers pay once to enter.
- Hourly fee: Customers pay according to time at the business.
- Products or services: Customers pay for an item or an activity such as a tattoo.
- Classes: Treat these as goal-based events rather than automatic income. Attendees do not pay if the class fails to earn at least a Bronze reward.
For classes, prepare around the goal and your Sim’s ability to teach before inviting attendees. The Bronze threshold means a class that falls short will not bring in payment.
Use Pottery as a product business
Pottery follows a straightforward craft loop: make a piece on the Pottery Wheel, then finish it in the Kiln. Sims can use completed work as décor, give it as a gift, or sell it on retail surfaces. As Pottery skill rises, Sims can learn to repair broken ceramics with Kintsugi. EA’s announcement notes that pottery includes one size of planter and one size of vase, despite an earlier communication suggesting otherwise. EA’s announcement details the skill and its objects.

Use Tattooing as a service business
Tattooing involves both making designs and applying them for customers. Sims can use premade designs, custom designs, or dedication tattoos. Tattoo Paint Mode allows players to create custom designs; higher Tattooing skill unlocks stamps, stencils, and touchups. Tattoos can be layered, so the service can involve more than applying a single design.
Run the business solo first; add staff when needed
You can hire household members or other candidates. The pack supports up to three employees, and you can assign tasks and manage salaries. Begin with the work your Sim can handle, then consider staff if the business has more tasks than one Sim can manage. Hiring adds delegation, but also means keeping track of employee duties and pay.

Build skills and connections outside the venue
Nordhaven meetups are a route to socializing and finding possible mentors. Skilled Sims may mentor others and teach classes or lectures. EA says listening to a lecture is one way to earn Mastery Perks, making meetups useful for progression as well as business connections. EA’s feature overview describes meetups, mentorship, and Mastery Perks.
