PlayStation’s State of Play page identifies September 3 as the latest broadcast and distinguishes the general show from State of Play Japan.
What was announced at the latest PlayStation State of Play?
The September 3, 2026 programming consisted of two broadcasts: a general State of Play featuring PlayStation Studios and third-party partner updates, and State of Play Japan, focused on games from Japan and Asia. PlayStation’s official recap says the combined shows covered more than 30 games. That total spans both broadcasts and includes updates as well as announcements; it is not a count of newly revealed games.
The biggest game announcements
Final Fantasy VII Revelation
The finale of Square Enix’s three-part remake project is scheduled to launch on PS5 on April 8, 2027. The show included an extended look at its expanded world and FITS combat system. The date makes it one of the clearest long-range release announcements in the recap.

Until Dawn 2
Firesprite’s PS5 horror sequel is scheduled for January 28, 2027. Its choice-driven story brings the Dead True crew back to Blackwood Sanatorium and sends them to Akishima Island.
Metro 2039
4A Games showed PS5 Pro gameplay for this single-player survival shooter and announced a PS5 launch date of February 4, 2027.

Final Fantasy Resonance
The game was scheduled to launch on October 22, 2026. At the time of the September broadcast, its entire first chapter was available as a PS5 demo, and save data could carry over to the full game. Sephiroth also appeared as an opponent players could challenge for a special reward. Since the announced launch date has passed, check the current PlayStation Store listing for the game’s present availability and demo status.

These items illustrate the breadth of the two-show recap, but the recap’s alphabetical presentation does not establish which announcements drew the most audience interest.
PlayStation-themed collectibles and controllers
LEGO original PlayStation replica
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced a LEGO replica of the original PlayStation console and controller. The set has 1,911 pieces and measures approximately 10.5 inches (26 cm) wide when assembled; its announced launch date was October 1, 2026. That is a display-and-build collectible, not playable hardware.

Grand Theft Auto VI DualSense controllers
Two limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers inspired by Grand Theft Auto VI were announced in Black and White editions. Pre-orders were set to open September 10, 2026, with the controllers scheduled to launch November 19, 2026—the same announced date as Grand Theft Auto VI on PS5. Those dates have passed or are imminent relative to the October 8, 2026 date of this article, so confirm current stock and availability before buying.
