Playlists are short campaigns organized around car cultures, eras, and disciplines. They give you structured races and challenges, while Freedrive, multiplayer activities, collection tools, and community-made tracks let you choose what to do next.
There is no single mandatory first car or universally correct route. Your best starting Playlist depends on whether you prefer vintage cars, electric performance, motorsports, street racing, drifting, or off-road driving. The guide below explains the systems that matter, the co-op rules that are easy to miss, and the platform details that are especially important on Nintendo Switch 2.

What progression looks like in Motorfest
Motorfest is built around themed Playlists rather than one long linear career. Each Playlist combines events, challenges, and rewards around a particular slice of car culture. Completing activities advances that Playlist and gives you vehicles, currency, experience, and upgrade opportunities. You can move between Playlists instead of finishing one entire campaign before touching another.

#1 Best Overall
- Welcome to Motorfest - the ultimate driving experience! Explore the versatile open game world in O'ahu Island in Hawaii and experience fast races, themed events and more!
- With hundreds of legendary vehicles for your collection you have plenty of opportunity to prove your skills and whizz through the streets of Honolulu
- The Motor Party is a constant favorite of automotive culture festivals, where you can test over 600 vehicles alone or with your crew and explore the new gaming world in Hawaii
- Discover the playlists and drive in theme-based promotions that take you to the most fascinating worlds of car culture, such as American muscle cars or Japanese street racing
- Compete in exciting competitions, develop your own style, participate in themed events, collect the most iconic cars, master all the challenges and expand your collection with the legendary vehicles
A practical progression loop is:
- Finish the introduction and learn the driving, navigation, and event-start prompts.
- Visit and activate a Playlist that matches the kind of cars or driving you enjoy.
- Complete its events and challenges to earn rewards and improve your vehicles with Perf Parts.
- Use Freedrive to explore, enter competitive or multiplayer activities, build your collection, or try TrackForge creations.
- Return to other Playlists when a vehicle type, discipline, or reward interests you.
This structure means you can make meaningful progress without finding a hidden “correct” order. It also lets you postpone a discipline that does not suit your driving style.
Choose your first Playlist by driving style
The opening choice is about preference, not permanent commitment. Ubisoft describes Playlist themes that include vintage cars, electric supercars, motorsports, street racing, and off-road activity. Later seasonal content adds more themes and locations, so the exact selection and count can change.
| If you enjoy | Look for a Playlist focused on | What it helps you learn |
|---|---|---|
| Classic design and older automotive eras | Vintage cars | Handling and event pacing built around historic vehicles |
| Instant acceleration and modern performance | Electric supercars | Managing high speed and responsive modern cars |
| Organized racing disciplines | Motorsports | Race-focused driving and vehicle specialization |
| Urban circuits and tuned road cars | Street racing | Traffic-aware lines, braking, and close competition |
| Loose surfaces and exploration | Off-road | Surface changes, jumps, and control away from paved roads |
Use the Playlist description and preview rewards before activating one. A reward vehicle can be useful, but it should not outweigh your enjoyment of the events: you will spend time learning that discipline, and the game allows you to activate other Playlists later.

When a Playlist has a vehicle constraint
Some events or rewards can require a particular vehicle category or type. Check the event card before launching rather than assuming your current favorite car is eligible. If a Playlist asks for a class you have not built yet, switch to another activity, obtain or select an eligible vehicle, then return. This avoids spending time tuning a car that cannot enter the event.
How events, challenges, and rewards work
Playlist events are the main structured activities. Challenges sit alongside them and can ask you to achieve a driving condition or complete a task rather than simply finish first. Read the objective before starting so you know whether the activity rewards speed, clean driving, a vehicle choice, or a particular maneuver.
Rewards feed several parts of your account:
- Vehicles: additions to your garage and collection, sometimes tied to a Playlist or event requirement.
- Currency: spendable resources for the game’s vehicle and customization systems.
- Experience: progress toward account and activity advancement.
- Perf Parts: upgrades that improve vehicle statistics.
Do not treat a single reward route as the definitive fastest path. Vehicle performance depends on the discipline, the car’s starting characteristics, the parts you receive, and your driving. A car that feels excellent in a street race may be awkward on dirt, while an off-road specialist may be a poor fit for a paved circuit.
Cars and Perf Parts: build a useful garage first
Perf Parts are the game’s vehicle upgrades. Ubisoft support describes them as parts that improve vehicle statistics. They are the main way to make a car more capable after you acquire it, but the useful choice is not always the part with the largest number on one screen.
Start with coverage, not a huge collection
Early on, prioritize a small garage that covers the activities you actually play. Keep at least one dependable vehicle for your chosen Playlist and add a second type when you begin exploring another discipline. This gives you a practical answer when an event imposes a vehicle constraint without forcing you to collect every available model immediately.
Read the event context before spending parts
Use the event’s surface and handling demands to decide where an upgrade matters. A part that improves a statistic valuable on pavement may not solve a control problem on loose terrain. Install improvements on cars you expect to drive repeatedly, and avoid distributing every part across vehicles you have not yet tested.

Do not chase an unverified “best” car
The available information does not establish one universal best car, upgrade setup, or fastest reward route. Performance is context-dependent, and seasonal additions can change the available choices. Treat recommendations from other players as discipline-specific suggestions, then test the car in the events you actually want to run.
What opens up after your first Playlist
Once the introduction and one Playlist are complete, Motorfest becomes less like a checklist and more like a set of connected tracks.
Freedrive exploration
Freedrive lets you roam the open world without committing to a Playlist event. Use it to learn roads, find routes between activities, and practice a vehicle in a low-pressure setting. Exploration is also useful when a challenge asks you to reach a location or perform a task away from a start line.
Competitive and multiplayer activities
Competitive activities provide a different goal from Playlist completion. They can test consistency against other players or against a more demanding activity format. If you join a Crew, read the reward rules below before assuming that everyone receives the same Playlist payout.
Collection building and customization
The vehicle collection is a progression goal in its own right. You can organize your garage around eras, disciplines, or personal favorites instead of only keeping the cars with the highest visible performance. Customization and collection work best when they support the way you play: retain vehicles you enjoy driving, then use Perf Parts to make those vehicles more comfortable in their intended activities.
TrackForge community tracks
TrackForge provides player-made tracks. Community creations can be a way to vary your sessions after the opening campaign, especially if you want unusual routes or a break from the official Playlist structure. Because these tracks are created by players, read the description and requirements before launching and expect differences in difficulty and design.
Co-op Playlist rewards and progression rules
Co-op has a specific distinction between the Crew leader and other members. In a co-op Playlist race, only the Crew leader receives the race rewards. That does not mean the rest of the Crew gets no progress, but it does mean you should coordinate who is leading when a particular payout matters.
How a Crew member saves Playlist progress
A Crew member saves Playlist progression only if that player has activated the Playlist by visiting its location in-game. Joining someone else’s race is not a substitute for activating the Playlist on your own account. Before starting a co-op session, have each participant visit the relevant Playlist location once.
What non-leaders can keep
Crew members can retain currency, XP, XP bonuses, and Perf Parts earned during the activity. Loaned vehicles are the exception: a loaned vehicle does not earn Perf Parts for the Crew member using it. If upgrading a personal car is your goal, enter with a vehicle from your own collection whenever the event allows it.

- Use personal vehicles when you want Perf Parts to apply to your own progression.
- After the race, check your currency, XP, bonuses, and parts before leaving the session.
Platform and purchase details, especially on Nintendo Switch 2
Platform choice changes how you buy and play Motorfest. Edition contents and regional availability can vary, so check the current retailer listing and Ubisoft’s support information for your region before purchasing.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Nintendo Switch 2 edition
Ubisoft describes the Nintendo Switch 2 release as a Game-Key Card. You must download the game, and a persistent internet connection is required to play. A Ubisoft Account is also required. Multiplayer features require Nintendo Switch Online.
Progress can carry across supported platforms, but a purchase made through another platform’s store does not transfer to Switch 2. Cross-progression therefore does not mean cross-store ownership: your saved progress and your license are separate questions.
Cross-play limits on Switch 2
The Switch 2 version does not offer full cross-play. Ubisoft lists certain shared activities and leaderboards, but that is not the same as unrestricted cross-platform multiplayer. Confirm that the specific activity you want to play is included before arranging a session with players on another platform.
Controllers and steering wheels
Ubisoft support lists platform-specific supported controllers and discusses steering-wheel integration. Compatibility depends on the exact device and platform. Verify the current support list before buying a peripheral; a wheel that works on one version should not be assumed to work on another.

Season 11: the current 2026 example
As of Ubisoft’s October 7, 2026 announcement, Season 11 adds Kauai as a new setting and introduces the free Kauai Expedition Playlist. The season presents Kauai as an off-road exploration playground and adds a Winch feature for select vehicles, creating a new exploration layer beyond ordinary point-to-point races.
The update also includes wildlife photography. Ubisoft says the season contains more than 40 species to find; that figure refers specifically to the Season 11 wildlife activity and is not a general count of all game content.
The same announcement describes more than 30 themed Playlists across activities such as street racing, off-road, drift, and motorsports. Playlist counts can change as seasons arrive, so treat the October 2026 figure as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent total.
The Tomb Raider: Secrets of Niʻihau experience requires its DLC pack. It is separate from the free Kauai Expedition Playlist, so check the edition or add-on description before assuming every Season 11 activity is included with the base game.

A practical first-week route
This route keeps the opening focused while leaving room to branch out.
- Complete the introduction. Learn the event-start flow, basic navigation, and how the game moves you between activities.
- Pick one Playlist by interest. Use the theme, not a claim that its reward is universally superior, as your deciding factor.
- Finish several events and inspect the challenges. Note which objectives feel natural and which vehicle types they require.
- Keep one primary car maintained. Apply Perf Parts to a vehicle you repeatedly drive instead of scattering every upgrade across an untested garage.
- Take a Freedrive session. Learn the surrounding roads and test your car away from event pressure.
- Try a second activity. Enter a competitive mode, browse your collection, or launch a TrackForge track after the extra modes unlock.
- Activate another Playlist only when you have a reason. A different discipline, a vehicle requirement, a reward you want, or a change of pace are all good reasons.
Common beginner mistakes and fixes
Assuming there is one required starting car
Fix: choose a Playlist that matches your preferred driving and build coverage gradually. The game’s structure supports multiple routes.
Launching an event without checking eligibility
Fix: read the event card for vehicle constraints before selecting a car. Switch vehicles or work on another activity when your current car is not eligible.
Expecting the Crew leader’s reward to appear for everyone
Fix: remember that only the leader receives the co-op Playlist race reward. Other members should activate the Playlist in advance and use personal vehicles if they want their own Perf Parts.
Confusing cross-progression with cross-store purchases
Fix: on Switch 2, plan for a separate platform purchase even when your supported save progress carries over.
Buying a peripheral without checking support
Fix: consult Ubisoft’s current controller and steering-wheel compatibility information for your exact platform and device.
Treating seasonal counts and features as permanent
Fix: attach dates to information such as the more-than-30 Playlist count and Season 11’s Kauai content. Later seasons can change the available activities.
How to decide what to do next
When you finish an event and are unsure where to go, use this decision order:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Want structured progression? Continue the active Playlist or activate another theme.
- Need a different vehicle type? Check event constraints, then obtain or prepare an eligible car.
- Want to practice? Use Freedrive before committing to another competitive activity.
- Want social play? Form a Crew, activate the Playlist on every account, and agree on the leader and vehicle plan.
- Want variety? Try a competitive mode, collection project, or TrackForge creation.
- Playing on Switch 2? Confirm the internet, Ubisoft Account, Nintendo Switch Online, and cross-play requirements for the activity you intend to use.
That decision framework keeps progression tied to your goal rather than to a supposed universal ranking of cars or Playlists. Motorfest is most accommodating when you treat its campaigns as entry points into a wider set of driving activities.
