The Crew Motorfest is a generally well-regarded open-world arcade racer, especially if you want a scenic setting, approachable driving and a steady stream of themed events. The main reservations are its resemblance to Forza Horizon, uneven appeal across activities and some reported friction with menus or progression. The review scores below chiefly reflect the 2023 launch version; Ubisoft is continuing to add content, with Season 11 highlighted in October 2026.
What do critics think of The Crew Motorfest?
Metacritic’s PS5 critic page showed a score of 76, classified as “Generally Favorable,” from 55 critic reviews when accessed on October 8, 2026. Its displayed breakdown was 39 positive reviews (72%), 15 mixed (28%) and none negative. This is a PS5-specific aggregate, largely rooted in reviews of the 2023 release—not a fresh assessment of the latest Season 11 build. Metacritic’s critic page

Reviewers cited on the page praise the Hawaiian setting, the enjoyable feel of driving and a broad selection of events. GameSpew’s September 15, 2023 review describes O’ahu as “stunning” and varied, and says driving is rewarding and fun. The game’s Playlist structure helps give that variety a curated shape: themed collections bring together races and car-culture challenges rather than leaving every activity as an undifferentiated marker on the map. What works well—and what may not
Scenery and a varied setting
O’ahu is a major part of the appeal. Critics highlight its visual variety and sense of place, making free-roam exploration part of the fun rather than merely travel between events. The setting gives the game a distinct identity, even as its overall open-world racing formula invites comparison with other series.

Approachable driving and curated events
Reviews describe the driving as accessible and rewarding, whether exploring or racing. Playlists offer a clear way to sample different event themes and car-culture activities. That structure is useful if you prefer a guided selection of things to do, though how much each activity appeals is a matter of taste.
Familiarity and uneven appeal
The most obvious comparison is Forza Horizon. The resemblance is a useful point of reference for the broad open-world racing format, but it also means Motorfest may feel familiar rather than singular to players already invested in that style. Review evidence also points to variation in the quality or appeal of activities, while some reviewers and players report friction in presentation, navigation, menus or progression. Individual user reports are examples, not proof of how commonly a problem occurs.

How do player ratings compare?
Player scores vary by platform and rating system, so treat them as separate snapshots rather than a single verdict. Metacritic’s broader game page showed a user score of 7.1 from 740 ratings on October 8, 2026, with 61% positive, 20% mixed and 19% negative. Metacritic’s user ratings
The PlayStation Store separately displayed 4.07 out of 5 from approximately 123,650 global ratings when accessed on the same date. That is a platform-store average with a much larger sample and a different scale; it is not directly comparable to Metacritic’s user score. Store ratings and counts can change. Is The Crew Motorfest worth it?
It is a strong candidate if you enjoy open-world arcade racing, value a scenic environment and like choosing from themed collections of events. It is a less certain fit if you want a racing game that feels unlike Forza Horizon, or if you need every activity and interface system to be consistently compelling. The available critic aggregate is favorable, but its PS5 launch-era sample should not be mistaken for a technical review or a consensus on every update released since then.

On PlayStation, the store listing says online play is required, and PS Plus is required for online play. It also lists optional in-game purchases. The PlayStation page gives a September 14, 2023 release date and notes DualSense vibration and trigger effects on PS5. The available platform information does not establish comparable frame rates, resolutions or handling across all versions, so those details should be checked against platform-specific technical coverage rather than inferred from the review scores.
