The easiest early route to Mohg, Lord of Blood, is White Mask Varré’s quest: after defeating Godrick, complete three multiplayer invasions, soak Lord of Blood’s Favor in maiden’s blood, and return it to Varré to earn the Pureblood Knight’s Medal. Use the medal to teleport to Mohgwyn Palace, where Mohg is waiting.
How to reach Mohgwyn Palace through Varré
This route avoids the later-game journey to the Consecrated Snowfield. The steps below follow the walkthrough published by Xbox Wire on June 20, 2024; the reviewed guide does not identify a current game patch or claim that the quest was rechecked against the latest update.

- Meet Varré at The First Step. Talk to him near the start of the game and exhaust his dialogue.
- Defeat Godrick the Grafted. Varré then moves to Rose Church in Liurnia.
- Speak with him at Rose Church. When asked about the Two Fingers, answer that something seems off. Varré gives you Festering Bloody Fingers.
- Enter three multiplayer invasions. Use a Festering Bloody Finger to invade another player. You do not need to win: once in the invaded world, use the Finger Severer to leave. Repeat until you have entered three invasions.
- Return to Varré. Accept his offer and receive Lord of Blood’s Favor.
- Soak the Favor in maiden’s blood. Go to the Church of Inhibition in northeast Liurnia and use the dead maiden there.
- Bring the bloodied Favor back to Varré. Exhaust his dialogue to receive the Pureblood Knight’s Medal.
- Use the medal. It teleports you to Mohgwyn Palace. Activate the nearby Site of Grace, then follow the palace approach and mausoleum toward the Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint grace and Mohg’s arena. Hostile enemies guard the route.
What if you cannot or do not want to invade?
The walkthrough’s Varré route calls for three invasions of other players, so it depends on multiplayer access. Some community guides mention an NPC-invasion alternative, but the reviewed walkthrough does not explain or verify it; do not rely on it as a confirmed offline shortcut.
The reliable alternative is the sending gate in the Consecrated Snowfield. It avoids Varré’s quest, but takes substantially more main-game progress: obtain both halves of the secret Haligtree medallion, use the Grand Lift of Rold to reach the Snowfield, then travel to its southwest area to find the gate. Mohg, Lord of Blood is not Mohg, the Omen
Mohg, Lord of Blood is the boss in Mohgwyn Palace. Mohg, the Omen is a different boss in Leyndell’s sewers. If you are following a guide for the Lord of Blood, make sure it directs you to Mohgwyn Palace rather than the subterranean area beneath Leyndell.
