Verdict: This was a genuine $600 discount, but it was a historical Micro Center promotion from April 2025—not a currently verified deal as of September 15, 2026. The 2025 Gigabyte AORUS MASTER 16 model, SKU BYHC5USE64SH, fell from $3,099 to $2,499 and included an RTX 5080 Laptop GPU, Core Ultra 9 processor, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 240Hz OLED display.
Do not assume the $2,499 price—or any lower price shown in an old search result—is still available. Check the exact Micro Center listing, stock status, condition, store restrictions, and return terms before buying.

Was the $600 AORUS MASTER 16 discount real?
Yes. Laptop Mag reported on April 3, 2025, with an update on April 4, that Micro Center had reduced the new 1TB configuration from $3,099 to $2,499—a $600 reduction.

That offer should now be treated as historical coverage. It was described as a store-based promotion subject to limited quantities, and there is no live price verification in the supplied information for September 15, 2026. A previously indexed Micro Center result showed the same SKU at $1,799.99, but it was an older crawl and indicated zero stock at the Fairfax store. That is not proof of a current nationwide price.

The separate 2TB configuration was listed at $2,699, or $500 off. Do not confuse it with the $2,499 1TB model.
Check Micro Center’s current Gigabyte listings only after confirming that the listing matches SKU BYHC5USE64SH, is new rather than open-box, and is available from a store you can access.

RTX 5080 Laptop GPU performance
The RTX 5080 here is the laptop version of NVIDIA’s Blackwell GPU, not the desktop RTX 5080. It supports DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation, but performance is not identical across RTX 5080 laptops.
GPU power limits, cooling, processor choice, and the display resolution all matter. Gigabyte lists up to a 175W GPU power level for the AORUS MASTER 16 family, but that is a manufacturer specification rather than a guarantee that every workload will sustain the same performance.

The laptop’s native 2560×1600 resolution is substantially more demanding than 1080p. DLSS can improve performance, while Frame Generation can increase the displayed frame rate, but generated frames should not be treated as equivalent to native-rendered frames or identical in latency.
A fast, high-contrast OLED display
The 16-inch 16:10 panel is one of the strongest reasons to consider this machine. Gigabyte lists a 2560×1600 resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, up to 500 nits of peak brightness, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, and G-SYNC support. See the official AORUS MASTER 16 specifications for the family’s display claims.
OLED provides excellent contrast, fast response, and strong HDR impact. The 240Hz refresh rate is most useful in competitive games capable of producing very high frame rates. In demanding games at 2560×1600 with ray tracing enabled, reaching 240 fps may require reduced settings, DLSS, and possibly frame generation.
OLED is less automatically ideal for every productivity pattern. Buyers who leave static windows, taskbars, or editor interfaces on screen for long periods should consider the possibility of OLED image retention or long-term panel wear. The supplied specifications do not establish independent color-accuracy measurements or long-term burn-in resistance.
How fast is it?
Tom’s Hardware recorded approximately 185 frames per second in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, 172 fps in Borderlands 3, and 120 fps in Far Cry 6. Those are review-test results measured at 1080p, not guaranteed results at the laptop’s native 2560×1600 resolution.

They nevertheless show why this configuration was positioned as a high-end gaming laptop. Expect the best results when the machine is plugged in and running a performance mode. Native-resolution results will generally be lower, particularly with ray tracing enabled. Actual performance will also vary with drivers, game patches, graphics settings, cooling conditions, and whether DLSS or Frame Generation is enabled.
Laptop Mag’s review coverage was broadly positive about the design, display, keyboard, and performance. It was less enthusiastic about GiMATE, Gigabyte’s software utility, which was not considered a decisive reason to buy the machine.
Cooling, noise, battery, and portability
Gigabyte advertises up to 230W of total thermal power, WINDFORCE Infinity EX cooling, four exhaust outlets, double-sided intake, a cooler WASD zone, and zero-decibel operation in suitable low-load scenarios. “Up to 230W” is a manufacturer thermal-power claim, not an independently measured promise of sustained output in every workload.
A Core Ultra 9 275HX and a high-power RTX 5080 need substantial cooling and a large power adapter. Under sustained gaming or rendering, expect heat and fan noise rather than ultraportable-laptop acoustics. The 99Wh battery is large, but capacity alone does not predict runtime; gaming away from the charger will be far shorter than light browsing, and maximum performance generally requires wall power.
The family also lists USB-C Power Delivery 3.0 and Wi-Fi 7. These features are useful for connectivity, but they do not turn the AORUS MASTER 16 into a lightweight travel system.

Upgrade potential
Gigabyte’s family specifications list two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots, support for up to 64GB of memory, one PCIe Gen 5 M.2 slot, and one PCIe Gen 4 M.2 slot, with up to 4TB of listed storage capacity.
The deal model already had 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, leaving potential room for expansion. Confirm the exact regional SKU and slot arrangement before purchasing memory or storage; specifications and supported capacities can differ between variants.
Is it still a good buy?
Buy it if
- You specifically want RTX 5080-class laptop performance for gaming, rendering, video editing, 3D work, or other demanding applications.
- You value a 240Hz OLED screen as much as raw GPU performance.
- You can find this exact configuration new at or below the historical $2,499 price.
- You are comfortable with a large, plugged-in performance laptop.
Be cautious if
- The price is close to the original $3,099 listing price. The discount was a major part of the value proposition.
- You mostly play at 1080p, where a less expensive RTX 5070 or RTX 5070 Ti laptop may be better value.
- You expect quiet gaming, long unplugged sessions, or a compact charger.
- The listing is open-box, has unclear warranty terms, or is available only at a distant store.
- You want the newest AORUS MASTER 16 generation. Gigabyte’s current product pages highlight newer AM6H and AM6J families, including configurations reaching the RTX 5090.
Alternatives to consider
Newer AORUS MASTER 16 models: If generation and GPU performance matter more than the lowest price, compare the current AM6H family and AM6J support page. Do not assume a newer model is better value without comparing its price, display, GPU wattage, memory, storage, and warranty.
RTX 5070 Ti laptops: These can be more sensible for buyers gaming at 1600p with DLSS. Compare GPU power limits, VRAM, cooling, screen quality, RAM, and SSD capacity—not just the RTX model number.
Recommended Free Tools
Other RTX 5080 laptops: Compare the complete platform. A competing RTX 5080 model may cost less or offer more storage, but could use a lower GPU power limit, weaker display, less memory, or a less favorable return policy.
Desktop gaming PCs: If portability is not important, a desktop can offer easier upgrades and stronger sustained cooling for the same broad budget. The AORUS MASTER 16 earns its premium primarily by combining high-end performance with a built-in OLED display and mobility.
What to verify before checkout
- Confirm the model number is BYHC5USE64SH, not another AORUS MASTER 16 variant.
- Check that the machine is new, unless you have deliberately accepted an open-box unit.
- Verify the live price, local store inventory, shipping or pickup options, and return window.
- Confirm the configuration: Core Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5080 Laptop GPU, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and 2560×1600 240Hz OLED panel.
- Review warranty coverage for the exact retailer and region.
- Compare the price against newer RTX 5090 and RTX 5070 Ti laptops before treating the discount as a bargain.
The phrase “latest” is also outdated in this context. The RTX 5080 model was part of the earlier 2025 generation; current Gigabyte pages now feature newer AORUS MASTER 16 families. It is more accurate to call this the 2025 RTX 5080 AORUS MASTER 16.
