The God Slayer is an announced open-world action RPG from Pathea Games, set in a steampunk-inspired fantasy world where protagonist Cheng fights god-like rulers known as the Celestials. What is The God Slayer?
The God Slayer is an open-world action RPG in development at Pathea Games, the studio behind the My Time series. Its announced setting is an Eastern-inspired steampunk metropolis. According to Pathea’s description, the Celestials—god-like beings who created the world—rule over humanity.

The story follows Cheng, an Elemancer who loses his family when the Celestials attack the Zhou Kingdom in an event called the God Fall. Humans can channel Qi into elemental powers; Cheng sets out to build a resistance and take on the Celestials. The PlayStation Store description likewise presents the player as an Elemancer opposing them. Sony’s China Hero Project page lists the game as in production, while the PlayStation Store listing identifies Pathea Games as publisher.
What gameplay has Pathea described?
Pathea says players will customize combat around four elements: water, earth, metal and fire. The capital city of Zhou is described as an explorable metropolis, with factions and missions that can be approached in different ways. The announcement names direct combat, bribing guards, using elemental powers to create diversions, and finding less obvious routes as possible approaches.

These are announced design details, not features verified through a released game or hands-on play. Pathea also described a story campaign estimated at 40 hours. That is the developer’s 2025 estimate, reproduced by RPG Site, not an independently measured playtime.
Why is Sony’s China Hero Project involved?
Sony describes the China Hero Project as “a PlayStation® mentoring and support initiative for China-based developers.” Its stated aims include development, publishing and marketing support. Sony’s current project page lists The God Slayer as in production, but does not specify what support package this particular game receives. The listing is evidence of the project connection; it does not establish Sony as the game’s developer or publisher.

Pathea founder and creative director Zifei Wu told TechRadar, “Thematically The God Slayer is a big departure from what Pathea is known for, namely the My Time series,” TechRadar reported.

The announcement names PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox platforms. TechRadar’s December 4, 2025 coverage specifies Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The official PlayStation Store page provides the clearest platform-specific status: it lists a PS5 version, marks the game “Announced,” and gives its release date as “to be determined.” TechRadar reported no release window on December 4, 2025.

Those platform announcements do not establish final launch dates or storefront availability for every version. The available information also does not confirm PC storefronts or a physical retail edition. The PS5 listing notes support for vibration through a DualSense wireless controller; it does not indicate that an additional controller is required.
