The map revealed for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom shows Hyrule, but the September 2024 preview was not a complete view of the game. Nintendo Life reported that some points of interest were still undiscovered and that the footage did not show the Still World. Nintendo’s later descriptions name areas including Gerudo Desert and Eldin Volcano, while its developer interview compares the map’s size with The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
What did the Echoes of Wisdom map reveal show?
The footage reported on September 10, 2024 showed the Hyrule overworld map and points of interest. Nintendo Life’s Liam Doolan, relaying footage previewed by Game File’s Stephen Totilo, cautioned that the map was incomplete: some points had not yet been discovered, and the Still World was not displayed. That describes the preview, not the finished game’s full map or content. Read Nintendo Life’s report.
The available reporting does not transcribe every label visible in the preview, so it does not support a definitive list of all revealed locations. The useful distinction is between a map’s coverage—what areas are shown—and its label completeness—whether all locations and points of interest have been found.
Which regions of Hyrule are identified?
Nintendo describes Zelda’s journey across Hyrule, from the central plateau to outlying places, and specifically names the Gerudo Desert and the summit of Eldin Volcano. Its announcement and Finnish localization provide those region references; the sources do not establish that these are the only regions shown or visited.

Nintendo’s August 2024 announcement introduces the journey and travel details. Nintendo’s Finnish announcement also names the Gerudo Desert and Eldin Volcano.
How large is the map?
In Nintendo’s Ask the Developer Vol. 13, producer Eiji Aonuma said the map became eight times the size of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. This is Nintendo’s comparison, not an independently measured land-area figure. Aonuma also emphasized that the larger world retains the approachable, compact feel of a top-down Zelda adventure. How do you get around Hyrule?
The map is more than an overview: waypoints selected on it let Zelda fast-travel to places she has reached. For overland travel, she can call a horse echo. Echoes are imitations of objects or enemies found in the world; they can also help solve puzzles or defeat foes, making them part of exploration as well as combat.
Nintendo describes the waypoint and horse options on the official game page. These methods serve different needs: fast travel for returning to known destinations, a horse for moving across the land, and echoes for interacting with obstacles and challenges along the way.

- Save the kingdom of Hyrule, this time with the wisdom of Princess Zelda! The people of Hyrule are being swallowed by strange crevices that have arisen, with a certain swordsman among the missing. Now it's up to Princess Zelda to save her kingdom in a new story from The Legend of Zelda !
- Team up with Tri and use the power of Tri's scepter to create "echoes", which are copies of objects found in the environment. Then recreate these echoes whenever you want to solve puzzles and defeat enemies.
- Create echoes like blocks of water to reach new heights, bridge old beds, throw rocks at enemies, or find your own creative combination of echoes to do everything your own way. You can even create monster echoes to fight alongside you in combat!
Where can you find a practical location reference?
For side-quest cleanup rather than general orientation, Nintendo Life’s guide maps 50 side-quest pickup locations and lists rewards. That count belongs to the guide’s side-quest locations; it is not a count of every collectible, point of interest, or map marker in the game. See the side-quest location guide.
