The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a Nintendo Switch adventure starring Princess Zelda. After rifts begin taking people from Hyrule and Link goes missing, Zelda sets out with Tri and a magical tool called the Tri Rod. The game launched on September 26, 2024.
What is Echoes of Wisdom?
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a Zelda adventure in which Princess Zelda—not Link—is the playable lead. Nintendo’s announcement describes a kingdom in peril, with Link missing and rifts taking people from Hyrule. Zelda journeys across the kingdom with help from Tri, an ethereal companion. Nintendo’s August 5, 2024 announcement introduces the premise and the game’s central abilities.

How do echoes work?
Zelda uses the Tri Rod to make imitations, called echoes, of certain objects and enemies she encounters. The idea is to use what she has learned from Hyrule’s surroundings to solve obstacles and fight.
- Reach higher places: Create a water-block echo to rise toward a ledge.
- Cross a gap: Stack echoes of old beds to make a bridge.
- Fight enemies: Summon Sword Moblin echoes to help in combat.
Nintendo also highlights abilities called Bind and Reverse Bond, along with regions to explore, Smoothie Shops, clothing, accessories, and a horse. The examples above illustrate the idea, rather than defining every rule or situation in the game.

When did it release, and what can you play it on?
The game is available for Nintendo Switch and released on September 26, 2024. Nintendo UK lists the platform and date on its official game page.
What did it cost at launch?
Nintendo of America’s August 2024 announcement listed a regular U.S. price of $59.99. That is the launch-era price, not a current price; check a retailer for today’s price and availability. Nintendo’s announcement gives the launch details.

Are amiibo required?
No. Amiibo are an optional extra. After unlocking the in-game amiibo feature, Zelda-series amiibo can provide items such as smoothie ingredients or outfit variants. Nintendo Support says the feature is usually unlocked about an hour into gameplay; the same figure may need multiple scans for unique rewards. Scanning is limited to once per figure per day and no more than three figures per day. Rewards are not guaranteed to be a particular item from every scan. See Nintendo Support’s amiibo guidance.
