Spoiler warning: This walkthrough covers the full story route, dungeons, bosses, optional areas, major side quests, collectibles, amiibo rewards, and the ending. Use the regional sections before the spoiler-marked endgame sections if you want to preserve story surprises.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launched for Nintendo Switch on September 26, 2024. Zelda uses the Tri Rod to create echoes of objects and enemies, then combines those echoes with Bind, Reverse Bond, and Swordfighter Form to explore rifts, solve puzzles, and fight through Hyrule. The route below gives you a reliable order for the main story while identifying content that can safely wait.

How to use this walkthrough

Echoes of Wisdom is a structured adventure, but it is not a rigid, one-solution puzzle game. After the opening region, several regional objectives can be approached in different orders, and the echo system often allows you to bypass the solution that first appears obvious. Treat the route in this guide as a dependable progression path rather than the only possible route.

For each region, first complete the mandatory rift or story objective, then search the overworld for Waypoints, caves, heart pieces, stamps, side quests, and useful echoes. A dungeon should be considered complete only after you have collected its small keys and chests, defeated its minibosses and boss, taken the dungeon reward, and checked the newly opened route outside.

  • Brand New in box. The product ships with all relevant accessories
Core rule: If a puzzle seems to demand a particular echo, try Bind, Reverse Bond, stacking, or a different creature before assuming you are stuck. Nintendo designed the game around creative combinations of echoes and these two movement abilities.

Before you start: fundamentals, controls, and preparation

Controls and the important verbs

The exact button prompts are shown by the game and can be checked at + > Options > Controls. Do that early if you change the default layout, because the echo menu, Bind, Reverse Bond, Swordfighter Form, map, and item shortcuts are all used constantly. The important part is understanding what each command does:

Verb What it does Typical use
Echo capture Records a usable imitation of an object or enemy you have encountered. Capture ordinary objects as well as monsters. A harmless-looking item can be more useful than a powerful enemy echo.
Summon an echo Creates the selected imitation in the world, subject to the Tri Rod’s current limits. Build platforms, block hazards, place weights, attack, distract enemies, or create a safe retreat.
Bind Makes a selected object follow Zelda’s movement. Pull a rock away from a switch, move a platform, drag a plug, or reposition an obstacle.
Reverse Bond Makes Zelda follow the movement of a selected object. Ride a moving platform, follow a flying or swimming object, or cross a gap that Zelda cannot traverse normally.
Swordfighter Form Temporarily gives Zelda direct sword-based combat abilities by consuming energy. Use it for a clean opening, a dangerous miniboss, or a quick finish—not automatically for every enemy.
Waypoints and map Waypoints provide fast-travel points and the map records discovered areas and objectives. Activate every Waypoint you pass. They make later side quests, Great Fairy visits, and cleanup much faster.

Your first practical echoes

Do not treat early object echoes as disposable tutorial items. Beds are a reliable recovery tool, tables and other flat objects are useful for basic stacking, and rocks can act as weights, barriers, or improvised projectiles. Capture a new object whenever the game gives you a safe opportunity to do so. A broad echo collection is more valuable than memorizing one supposedly universal best echo.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Healing without wasting resources

A bed echo can restore hearts over time when Zelda rests on it. This makes beds a useful fallback after exploring a cave or clearing a group of enemies, especially when you want to preserve smoothies for a dungeon or boss. Hot springs are another recovery option when you find them in the world. Healing is not only about carrying the strongest food: it is also about knowing when to stop and recover for free.

Save before entering an unfamiliar rift, beginning a major side quest, or attempting a difficult boss. The game has its own save and recovery behavior, but a manual save from the pause menu is the safest way to protect a completionist route. If you are collecting everything, save before spending rare ingredients, starting an automaton quest, or committing to a minigame attempt.

Best echo for the job: a task-based reference

There is no single best echo. The right choice depends on whether you need height, distance, healing, a weight, crowd control, or damage. Keep a small group of frequently used echoes easy to reach, then switch to a puzzle-specific echo when the room demands it.

Task Useful echoes or tools How to think about them
Recovery Old Bed, Soft Bed, Zelda’s Bed, hot springs Use beds between encounters to save smoothies. Better bed variants recover hearts at different rates; inspect the in-game behavior rather than assuming every bed is identical.
Vertical traversal Platboom, beds, tables, stacked objects Platboom is a strong early-to-midgame choice for gaining height. Bind can reposition objects when a normal stack does not line up.
Horizontal traversal Flying Tile and other moving platforms Flying Tile is especially useful for crossing long gaps. Reverse Bond can let Zelda follow a moving object instead of trying to jump the distance herself.
Flying or gliding Flying enemies and airborne utility echoes Use these to reach ledges, distract grounded enemies, or follow a moving route. Check whether the echo’s movement is predictable before committing to a long crossing.
Underwater movement Water- and swimming-related echoes, bubbles, and nearby environmental objects In water regions, solve the movement problem first. A combat echo is not helpful if Zelda cannot reach the next air pocket or passage.
Fire and ice interaction Fire- or ice-based echoes and environmental objects Use the element that changes the room: melt or ignite what blocks progress, freeze or cool what needs to be stabilized, and watch for interactions with water.
Switches and weights Rocks, crates, tables, beds, and other heavy objects Place an object permanently on a switch, then use Bind to adjust it if the first placement is off by only a few pixels.
Hazard control Beamos and other ranged or area-control echoes Beamos can provide reliable pressure against enemies and help control dangerous spaces. Keep Zelda out of the hazard while the echo does the work.
Late-game combat Lynel and other high-power enemy echoes Lynel is a strong late-game combat option, but its cost, positioning, and the room’s layout still matter. Do not spend all available echo capacity on damage if the room is primarily a traversal puzzle.

When an echo feels too expensive or slow, try a cheaper echo plus Bind. A simple platform moved into the correct place can outperform a powerful creature that cannot reach the target. Conversely, in a boss arena, a durable combat echo can create the opening needed to activate Swordfighter Form safely.

Main story walkthrough

The broad progression is: Prologue; Suthorn Forest and the first rifts; Suthorn Ruins; Jabul Waters; Jabul Ruins; Gerudo Desert; Gerudo Sanctum; Hyrule Castle; Eldin Volcano; Eldin Temple; Faron Wetlands; Faron Temple; Holy Mount Lanayru and Lanayru Temple; Eternal Forest; Null’s Body; and the final confrontation.

The Jabul and Gerudo objectives offer meaningful flexibility after the opening. You can use the preparation notes below to choose the region whose movement style suits your current echo collection. Later story gates still require the major regional objectives to be cleared before the Eternal Forest endgame opens.

1. Prologue and Suthorn Forest

Story goal: Escape the opening crisis, obtain the Tri Rod, learn to create echoes, and investigate the first rifts.

  • Capture the first useful objects rather than rushing past them. Beds, tables, rocks, and basic platforms establish the game’s most important habits.
  • Learn the difference between creating an echo and moving an existing object. Bind is for making an object follow Zelda; Reverse Bond is for making Zelda follow an object.
  • Activate Waypoints as soon as you reach them. They are particularly important once the Still World begins to connect separate entrances.
  • Use simple object stacks to reach ledges. If a stack is unstable, use Bind to reposition the lowest or most awkward object before adding another.
  • Enter the first rifts carefully. The Still World may hide paths above, below, or behind the obvious route, so look for side chambers before following the most visible exit.

Before moving on: Have at least one recovery option, a dependable object for height, and a few combat echoes. The point of this chapter is not to build a perfect roster; it is to teach you to look at every room as a collection of movable parts.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Suthorn Ruins — main dungeon

Purpose: This is the first full dungeon and the game’s introduction to dungeon exploration, treasure hunting, keys, miniboss encounters, and a major boss.

Entry preparation: Bring a bed or another recovery option, one echo that can gain height, one ranged or durable combat echo, and enough energy or restorative smoothies to use Swordfighter Form during a genuine opening.

  1. Find the dungeon map early and use it to distinguish unexplored rooms from rooms you have crossed but not fully searched.
  2. Open side rooms before spending a small key whenever possible. A key door may be mandatory, but an overlooked chest can leave you circling later.
  3. Test object stacking and Bind around raised platforms, switches, and blocked passages. The first dungeon is built to reward experimenting with ordinary echoes.
  4. Expect a miniboss-style combat check before the final room. Let your echoes create distance, then use Swordfighter Form during the enemy’s recovery window.
  5. After the boss, collect the Heart Container and dungeon reward before leaving. Check the map once more for any chest or side room that remains marked as unexplored.

What unlocks afterward: The story opens the route toward the major water and desert objectives. This is the best point to pause for a few caves, stamps, and early side quests if you want a stronger echo roster before the next regional challenge.

3. Jabul Waters

Story goal: Resolve the crisis affecting the Zora-related region and open the way to Jabul Ruins.

  • Water changes the priority order of a room. First identify where Zelda can stand, where she can breathe or resurface, and which current or vertical route moves her toward the objective.
  • Capture aquatic and water-interacting echoes as you encounter them. A creature that is mediocre on land may be the correct tool for an underwater passage.
  • Separate the required regional objectives from optional coastal content. Not every cave, shoreline path, or ship-related event is needed to enter the main dungeon.
  • Use Waypoints on both sides of long water routes so later cleanup does not require repeating the entire journey.

Optional content: The Zappy Shipwreck is a substantial side-quest dungeon with enemies, puzzles, a boss, and its own rewards. It is worth returning to when you have a comfortable water-traversal setup, but it is not a replacement for Jabul Ruins.

4. Jabul Ruins — main dungeon

Dungeon approach: Treat this as a water-navigation dungeon first and a combat dungeon second. Before using a key, inspect the map for underwater branches, side chambers, and vertical passages.

  • Keep a movement echo selected while exploring rather than relying only on combat summons.
  • When a passage appears too far away, look for a moving object that can carry Zelda and use Reverse Bond.
  • Use Bind to move objects that block water routes or to hold a mechanism in position while Zelda swims around it.
  • Search for chests before leaving each major floor. Water can conceal routes that are not visible from the room’s entrance.
  • For the boss, watch the arena as much as the boss. Safe footing and a reliable way to reach the target are often more important than the highest-damage echo.

Collect the dungeon reward and Heart Container before returning to the regional overworld. If you skipped the Zappy Shipwreck, mark it for later rather than confusing it with a mandatory dungeon objective.

5. Gerudo Desert

Story goal: Resolve the Gerudo-region rifts and reach Gerudo Sanctum.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Sandstorms reduce visibility and make landmarks easy to miss. Use the map, Waypoints, and the edges of the storm to maintain your bearings.
  • Complete the preliminary rift objectives before assuming the Sanctum entrance is available. Gerudo progression has story conditions that gate the later dungeon.
  • Look for echoes that help with elevation, ranged attacks, and movement over loose or hazardous ground.
  • Do not skip the Cryptic Cavern. It is a pre-dungeon mini-dungeon containing enemies, chests, and useful echoes, and access depends on earlier Gerudo-region progress.

6. Cryptic Cavern — mini-dungeon

Cryptic Cavern is optional in the sense that it is not one of the game’s main dungeons, but it is substantial enough to deserve a dedicated clear. Explore every branch, capture any new enemy or object echo, and open its chests before continuing toward Gerudo Sanctum. If a route appears blocked by sand, height, or an enemy formation, combine a traversal echo with Bind rather than treating the cavern as a straight combat corridor.

7. Gerudo Sanctum — main dungeon

Entry requirements: Complete the necessary Gerudo-region rift and preliminary objectives, including the route through the desert and Cryptic Cavern as appropriate to your progression.

  1. Use the map to identify which rooms are connected by normal doors and which are reached through dungeon-specific routes.
  2. Search for chests on both sides of major corridors before advancing. Sanctum puzzles often make a room look complete when a side path remains.
  3. Use Bind to pull or reposition objects and Reverse Bond to ride moving elements. If a mechanism seems to require Zelda to be in two places, make an echo hold one position while you operate the other.
  4. Prepare a combat echo that can attack from a safe distance. Desert encounters punish standing still, and Swordfighter Form is best reserved for a clear opening.
  5. After the boss, take the Heart Container and dungeon reward, then revisit the Sanctum exit area for any newly available story interaction.

Once the Jabul and Gerudo story objectives are complete, the route leads to Hyrule Castle. If one of those regions is still open, the castle objective will not advance normally.

8. Hyrule Castle — story-critical dungeon

Hyrule Castle is shorter than several regional temples, but it is central to the story and should be treated as a full dungeon rather than a brief hallway.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Bring a fire-based echo or another way to light torches. The torch puzzle is a prominent progression check.
  • Search side rooms before climbing or crossing into the next major section; castle rooms can be easy to leave behind once the story path becomes obvious.
  • Use defensive or ranged echoes to control narrow corridors, where Zelda can otherwise be surrounded.
  • Keep Swordfighter energy for the boss and for any room whose layout makes echo combat unreliable.

Defeat the boss, collect the dungeon reward and Heart Container, and follow the resulting story sequence. The consequences of Hyrule Castle open the next group of regional objectives and change the stakes of the remaining route.

9. Eldin Volcano

Story goal: Investigate the Eldin-region rifts and reach Eldin Temple.

  • Heat and lava are environmental problems before they are combat problems. Identify safe ground, steam vents, and routes that let Zelda cross without depending on a single risky leap.
  • Lava Rocks and flying echoes are important tools in this region. Use them to create safe movement options and to reach routes that ground-based stacks cannot.
  • Lizalfos encounters reward patience. Let an echo draw attention or attack from range instead of chasing enemies across hazardous surfaces.
  • Use the map to mark side caves and Summit Cave for later cleanup if the main path is demanding your attention.

10. Eldin Temple — main dungeon

Eldin Temple expands the region’s heat, lava, and vertical-traversal ideas into a dungeon route. Bring a fire- or lava-compatible movement option, a flying or height-building echo, a ranged combat choice, and a bed or restorative smoothie.

  • Check whether a steam vent is meant to lift Zelda, redirect an object, or simply mark a safe route. Do not assume every vent has the same function.
  • Use Lava Rocks and moving platforms to cross dangerous sections, but confirm where Zelda will land before committing to Reverse Bond.
  • When a chest appears above a lava room, solve the movement problem first and fight second. A durable echo can occupy enemies while you build the route.
  • After the miniboss and boss, collect the Heart Container and reward, then inspect the exit path. Eldin’s completion is one of the conditions needed for the Eternal Forest endgame.

11. Faron Wetlands

Story goal: Resolve the Faron-region rifts and work through the Deku Scrub-related objectives that lead to Faron Temple.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • The wetlands are easy to navigate past without noticing a side route. Activate Waypoints and search around water, trees, raised ledges, and the entrances to rifts.
  • The Deku Scrub Lockup is an important optional or progression-related space depending on your current objective. Follow the membership-card progression rather than leaving after the first interaction.
  • Capture new plant-, water-, and enemy-related echoes. Faron’s puzzles often reward a tool that changes the terrain or handles a switch while Zelda moves elsewhere.
  • Keep track of the route to Faron Temple separately from the Lockup and ordinary caves. They are not interchangeable locations.

12. Faron Temple — detailed main-dungeon guide

Faron Temple is one of the easiest dungeons to make confusing because it has multiple entrances, exits, and floors. Do not navigate it as a single straight sequence. Use the map after every major transition and treat each floor as a set of connected objectives.

Recommended preparation: Bring a reliable height echo, a way to move or bind objects, a ranged combat echo, and enough healing for multiple encounters. A bed is useful between fights, while a damage-reduction smoothie is better reserved for the boss attempt.

  1. Map the entrances. Record which entrance you used and which floor it connects to. If a door seems to lead back to a familiar room, check whether it has opened a shortcut rather than assuming you made no progress.
  2. Search the first branches. Faron Temple rewards checking side rooms for keys and chests before committing to the most prominent staircase or corridor.
  3. Use echo tasks in pairs. Have one echo hold a switch, block an enemy, or occupy a hazard while Zelda uses Bind or climbs toward the next mechanism.
  4. Expect miniboss encounters. Use the arena’s walls, platforms, and open spaces to keep distance. Swordfighter Form should be activated when the target is exposed, not while it is invulnerable or moving through a hazard.
  5. Complete the Diababa fights. These encounters are separate combat checks within the Faron progression. Let echoes create openings, avoid standing directly in the attack line, and use the arena rather than forcing close combat.
  6. Track the final route. Before entering the last boss area, confirm that the map shows the relevant chests and key doors handled. Multiple exits make it especially easy to leave one branch unexplored.
  7. Prepare for the three-phase temple boss. Each phase changes the safe timing and positioning. Conserve enough energy for the final phase, use echoes to keep pressure on the boss, and heal between phases whenever the arena permits it.

Collect the temple reward and Heart Container before leaving. Faron is one of the three regional clears required to open the endgame route in the Eternal Forest.

13. Holy Mount Lanayru

Story goal: Reach the cold region, resolve its environmental and rift-related obstacles, and enter Lanayru Temple.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Cold-region navigation is distinct from dungeon puzzles. First find safe routes through ice and snow, then solve the temple’s mechanisms once you are inside.
  • Look for ways to combine ice and water interactions. Some obstacles are solved by changing the state or position of an object rather than by defeating an enemy.
  • Use flying or height-building echoes where snowbanks and ice walls prevent a normal approach.
  • Activate Waypoints before entering the temple so you can return for stamps, caves, and side content without repeating the mountain route.

14. Lanayru Temple — main dungeon

Lanayru Temple is built around ice, water, and careful movement. Bring a dependable traversal echo and avoid filling your active choices with combat options alone.

  • When a room contains both water and ice, test the environmental interaction before summoning a large enemy echo. The intended progress may depend on changing the route rather than winning a fight.
  • Use Bind to adjust objects that are almost, but not quite, in the correct place. Reverse Bond is valuable when a moving or floating object already follows the route you need.
  • Search upper and lower portions of each room. Ice-themed dungeons often hide their meaningful path above the apparent floor.
  • Use a bed between combat rooms and keep a full-heal or defensive smoothie for the boss.

Defeat the boss, collect the Heart Container and dungeon reward, and complete the post-dungeon story scene. With Eldin, Faron, and Lanayru cleared, Zelda can proceed toward the Eternal Forest once the required sanctions and story conditions are met.

15. Eternal Forest, Null’s Body, and the finale Major spoilers

Endgame requirement: The central secrets of the Eternal Forest become available after Eldin, Lanayru, and Faron have been cleared and Zelda has obtained Din’s, Nayru’s, and Farore’s Sanctions.

  1. Return to the Eternal Forest. Follow the newly available story route rather than treating the forest as an ordinary exploration zone.
  2. Use the six pedestals. Their purpose is tied to the endgame progression. If one does not respond, check that all three regional objectives and the required sanctions are complete.
  3. Enter the Stilled Ancient Ruins. Search deliberately and capture any new useful echoes. The Still World remains a puzzle environment, so look above and below the obvious route.
  4. Confront Zelda’s Echo. This is a story-critical encounter. Keep your combat plan flexible and do not spend every resource before the following sequence.
  5. Proceed to Null’s Body. Treat this as the final dungeon sequence: map rooms, collect keys and chests, solve movement puzzles, and preserve healing and energy for the final encounters.
  6. Finish the final confrontation. Watch for changes between phases, use echoes to create safe openings, and spend Swordfighter energy when direct damage is actually available.

After the final battle, follow the ending sequence and return to the post-game state the game provides. If your save places you before the final encounter, use that file to finish cleanup; a cleared story does not necessarily mean every optional objective has been completed.

Dungeon checklist and repeatable puzzle method

Use this checklist for every main dungeon. It prevents the most common completionist mistake: defeating the boss and leaving a chest, key route, or newly opened exit behind.

Check Question to answer before leaving
Entry requirements Did you complete the region’s required rifts, quests, and access conditions?
Map Have you found the dungeon map and identified every explored floor or branch?
Echoes Did you capture any new object or enemy echo that appears only in this dungeon?
Small keys Have all key doors been opened, including side branches?
Chests Does the map show any suspicious unexplored room or unopened chest route?
Minibosses Did you clear every marked combat encounter, not just the boss approach?
Boss Did you observe the boss’s telegraphs and keep one healing option available for the final phase?
Reward Did you collect the dungeon reward and Heart Container?
Afterward Did a new story route, side quest, cave, or overworld shortcut open outside?

If you are stuck in a dungeon, use this order: check the map, inspect the floor and ceiling, try Bind on every movable object, try Reverse Bond on every moving object, then search for a missing key or side room. Only after those checks should you assume you need a new echo from elsewhere.

Swordfighter Form, energy, and Might Crystals

Swordfighter Form is a limited transformation, not Zelda’s default combat mode. Its energy meter drains while the form is active, so it is most efficient when the enemy is exposed, the room is crowded, or an echo cannot safely reach the target.

  • Use it for openings: activate the form after a boss telegraph, stun, or vulnerable phase begins.
  • Do not spend it on routine enemies: ordinary echoes can distract or defeat many encounters without consuming your limited energy.
  • Refill before major fights: use energy-restoring smoothies or available recovery resources rather than entering a boss room with an empty meter.
  • Upgrade it deliberately: Might Crystals are tied to Swordfighter Form and its upgrades. Keep a separate Might Crystal checklist because collecting them is a different completion goal from finding Heart Pieces or stamps.
  • Pair it with echoes: an echo can draw attention or expose a target while Zelda uses the sword, reducing the time the meter is active.

The exact total of Might Crystals and the thresholds for every upgrade should be checked against the final in-game or guide database used for publication; those numbers are easy for third-party indexes to revise or conflate with reward counts.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Side quests, Dampé, automatons, and optional areas

Side content is not filler in Echoes of Wisdom. It supplies echoes, accessories, outfits, ingredients, Fairy Bottle opportunities, automaton parts, rupees, and minigame rewards. Keep a separate tracker so an unfinished side quest does not get mistaken for a blocked main-story objective.

Dampé and automatons

Dampé’s quest line unlocks and expands the automaton system. These quests are optional for the main route but materially increase your combat and utility options. When following the chain:

  1. Return to Dampé whenever the story or a completed quest suggests new work is available.
  2. Collect the requested components and complete the associated trials rather than postponing the entire system until the end.
  3. Record which automaton parts and upgrades you have received. Automaton progress is separate from ordinary echo capture.
  4. Use the automaton best suited to the room’s objective; do not assume the newest unlock is automatically the best choice for every encounter.

Great Fairy upgrades

The Great Fairy’s request begins a multi-stage upgrade path. Treat it as a progression chain: complete the current request, return for the next stage, and check the resulting accessory or equipment capacity improvement. Keep enough rupees available for the requests and upgrades rather than spending every rupee immediately on minor purchases.

Useful optional activities

  • The Flying Tile: a movement-focused activity that also reinforces horizontal traversal skills.
  • The Precious Treasure: an optional treasure objective worth tracking separately from ordinary chests.
  • The Zappy Shipwreck: a substantial side-quest dungeon with its own boss and rewards.
  • Zora Child’s Fate: a regional side quest connected to the water area.
  • Wild Sandstorms: a Gerudo-region activity that is easier once you understand desert navigation.
  • A Mountainous Mystery: a mountain-region side objective best handled after you have reliable heat- and height-traversal options.
  • Summit Cave: an optional cave to revisit during Eldin and mountain cleanup.
  • Minigames: record each activity, its best reward, and whether you have completed its available difficulty or score requirements.

Smoothies: preparation instead of recipe hoarding

Smoothies are most useful when organized by purpose. A full recipe list is less helpful than carrying the right effect for the next region or boss. Make a small reserve before entering a dungeon, then use beds and hot springs for ordinary exploration.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Purpose What to carry When to use it
Full recovery Recipes made from strong healing ingredients Boss attempts, long rifts, and situations where a bed is unavailable.
Energy restoration Energy-restoring smoothie combinations Before Swordfighter-heavy encounters or when a boss gives short damage windows.
Damage reduction Defensive smoothies, including Golden Tough Smoothie where available Bosses with persistent hazards or attacks that are difficult to avoid while learning telegraphs.
Movement and swimming Movement-boosting or water-focused smoothies, including Rapid Smoothie where useful Water routes, timed traversal, and areas where reaching the next platform matters more than damage.
Money and farming Recipes that improve the value or usefulness of gathered ingredients Preparing for Great Fairy requests, accessories, purchases, or late-game cleanup.

At the smoothie shop, combine ingredients and record the result in the recipe list. If two ingredients produce a weak or redundant effect, save rare ingredients for a more important combination. Rapid Smoothies and Golden Tough Smoothies are useful examples of why effect-based planning is better than simply cooking every ingredient as soon as you find it.

Accessories and clothing

Accessories

Accessories provide utility effects and should be treated as a build system. Examples worth checking include the Heart Pin, Gold Brooch, Survey Scope or Binoculars, Frog Ring, and Ancient Charm. Their value depends on the task: exploration, rupee or item gathering, jumping, survivability, and completionist scouting do not require the same accessory.

Because accessory names and upgraded variants are easy to confuse, keep a table with four columns: exact in-game name, effect, source, and acquisition condition. The current third-party index used for this guide lists 28 accessories, but count variants only once or exactly as the source defines them; do not combine base and upgraded versions casually.

Accessory example Use it when Verification note
Heart Pin You want a recovery or survivability-focused setup. Read the current item description to confirm the precise heart-related effect.
Gold Brooch You are gathering rupees or farming resources. Confirm whether your version or upgraded variant changes the effect.
Survey Scope / Binoculars You are scouting the overworld and searching for completionist content. Use the exact name shown in your inventory when recording it.
Frog Ring You need better jumping or vertical movement. Equip it for traversal, then switch back for combat if necessary.
Ancient Charm You need additional protection during difficult fights. Check the description and distinguish it from any upgraded defensive accessory.

Clothing and outfits

Track clothing separately from accessories. Include ordinary outfits, reward outfits, and the classic dress quest in its own checklist. Clothing may be cosmetic, and it should not be described as mechanically equivalent to an accessory unless its in-game description explicitly provides an effect. For a clean completion record, note whether an outfit was purchased, awarded by a quest, unlocked through another activity, or obtained as an alternate-color reward.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Collectibles and a practical 100% checklist

The game does not provide one universally agreed definition of 100% completion across every guide database. For this article, the core completion target means finishing the main story and tracking all major collectible and system categories below. Amiibo rewards are optional and should not be required for a normal in-game completion checklist.

Heart Pieces — 40 listed locations

The selected guide index lists 40 Heart Pieces. Use a region-by-region tracker and mark each piece only after collecting it, not merely after discovering its cave or quest. If a piece is behind a story gate, record the gate in the notes so you do not repeatedly search an inaccessible location.

Heart Piece tracker

  • ☐ Prologue and Suthorn Forest
  • ☐ Suthorn and central Hyrule caves
  • ☐ Jabul Waters and coastal areas
  • ☐ Gerudo Desert and surrounding caves
  • ☐ Hyrule Castle and central story areas
  • ☐ Eldin Volcano and mountain routes
  • ☐ Faron Wetlands
  • ☐ Holy Mount Lanayru and cold-region routes
  • ☐ Rift and Still World locations
  • ☐ Final cleanup check: 40 total recorded in your chosen index

Might Crystals

Might Crystals support Swordfighter Form upgrades. Maintain a separate list from Heart Pieces, because a region may contain both and the two systems have different reward structures. Verify the final total and upgrade thresholds in the database you use rather than relying on an unqualified total.

Stamps — 25 listed locations

The current guide hub lists 25 Stamp Locations. Search for stamp stands during each regional visit, but mark inaccessible stands for later if they require a story ability, a regional clear, or a newly available route.

Amiibo: rewards, limits, and what they do not unlock

Amiibo functionality becomes available after the feature is unlocked, usually about one hour into gameplay. Compatible Zelda-series amiibo can provide useful items such as smoothie ingredients and alternate-color outfits. These rewards are optional: they are not required to complete the story or solve the main dungeons.

If you want to use figures, compatible Zelda amiibo are the relevant accessories for this feature. Nintendo’s support information states that each amiibo can be scanned once per day per Nintendo Account, with a maximum of three scans per day. Plan scans around the reward limit instead of repeatedly scanning the same figure expecting unlimited items.

  • Unlock the amiibo feature first; scans made before the feature is available will not provide the normal reward flow.
  • Use up to three scans per day, observing the once-per-day limit for each amiibo.
  • Expect useful ingredients or cosmetic alternate-color outfits rather than mandatory story items.
  • Do not include amiibo-only rewards in a core 100% checklist unless you have deliberately chosen an external-reward completion standard.

Current-version note: Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo lists version 1.1.0 as released on June 3, 2025. On Nintendo Switch 2, the update includes system-specific improvements: a favorites-only display option for the echo list after you have 30 or more echoes, improved graphics on the Switch 2 screen and high-resolution televisions, and HDR support.

Those improvements should not be presented as identical changes to the original Nintendo Switch hardware. The walkthrough, story route, puzzles, and collectible advice apply to the Switch version generally, while the listed display and echo-list conveniences are specifically relevant to Nintendo Switch 2 users.

Post-game cleanup order

After finishing the final confrontation, use the game’s post-battle save state or pre-finale save as your cleanup base. The most efficient order is:

  1. Confirm the story is complete and note whether the save returns you to the approach before the final battle.
  2. Finish any unfinished regional side quests and optional mini-dungeons.
  3. Complete Dampé’s automaton chain and record every part or upgrade.
  4. Visit the Great Fairy and finish all available upgrade stages.
  5. Collect remaining Heart Pieces, Might Crystals, stamps, Fairy Bottles, accessories, and clothing.
  6. Return to locked or previously inaccessible caves after the final regional abilities and story gates are available.
  7. Finish minigames and record their rewards separately from ordinary quest rewards.
  8. Complete the smoothie recipe list and use leftover ingredients for any money-making or preparation goals.
  9. Scan amiibo on later days if you want the optional ingredients or alternate-color outfits.

A defensible completion record should show the exact total for each category and the source or in-game condition for every entry. That is better than calling a file 100% complete simply because the final boss is defeated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose between the Jabul Waters and Gerudo Desert objectives?

Yes. After the opening progression, the game allows meaningful regional flexibility, including the Jabul and Gerudo objectives. The story still imposes gates, so complete the required rifts and preliminary quests before expecting the related dungeon to open.

Do I need Swordfighter Form to defeat every enemy or boss?

No. Swordfighter Form is a limited-energy option. Echoes can handle many encounters, while Swordfighter Form is most efficient during boss openings, dangerous minibosses, or moments when direct damage is safer than waiting for an echo.

Are beds better than smoothies for healing?

They serve different purposes. Bed echoes and hot springs can provide recovery without consuming ingredients, making them excellent between ordinary encounters. Smoothies are better for portable full healing, energy restoration, movement effects, or damage reduction during dungeons and boss attempts.

Are amiibo required for the story or main collectibles?

No. Amiibo rewards are optional. Compatible Zelda amiibo can provide ingredients and alternate-color outfits after the feature unlocks, but they are not needed for the main route or dungeon completion.

What counts as 100% completion in this guide?

This guide treats completion as the finished story plus Heart Pieces, Might Crystals, stamps, accessories, clothing, Fairy Bottles, Dampé and automaton content, side quests, minigames, and smoothie recipes. Amiibo rewards are optional external rewards and are tracked separately.

Does version 1.1.0 make the original Switch version perform like Nintendo Switch 2?

No. Nintendo’s documented improvements include Switch 2-specific echo-list, graphics, and HDR features. The story and gameplay guidance applies to both systems, but those display and interface improvements should not be assumed to apply identically to original Switch hardware.

The Bottom Line

For a reliable playthrough, capture useful echoes instead of chasing one universal best, activate every Waypoint, use beds to preserve smoothies, and clear each dungeon’s map, chests, keys, boss, reward, and Heart Container before moving on. Follow the regional route in the order that suits your echo collection, then use the separate side-quest and collectible checklists for cleanup. The final boss completes the story, not necessarily the game’s broader completion goals.
