Short answer: The Order: 1886 is not officially available as a native Windows game. A special fork of the shadPS4 PlayStation 4 emulator can now run it on PC, but the current build is experimental, with shader-compilation stutters, visual glitches and scene-dependent performance. A report dated August 14, 2026 recorded more than 200 frames per second in the opening at 1080p and 60–84 FPS near the city on one high-end system.
What is officially available?
The Order: 1886 remains a PlayStation 4 game. Ready At Dawn described it as an original IP “targeted exclusively for the PlayStation 4” in the studio’s June 11, 2013 announcement. Sony’s June 10, 2014 release announcement said it would launch globally on February 20, 2015, exclusively on PS4.

That official record has not changed into a Windows release. There is no documented Sony-authorized native PC port, no retail PC edition and no evidence of a fixed 30 FPS PC version. Reports describing the game as “now native on PC at 30 FPS” therefore conflate an emulator demonstration with a commercial port and misstate the frame-rate evidence.

The playable PC footage comes from a special fork of shadPS4, software that emulates PlayStation 4 hardware. You need the emulator, legally obtained game data and a sufficiently powerful PC; the demonstration is not an installer downloaded from a publisher storefront. Compatibility can change as emulator code and game profiles change, so results from one build should not be treated as a guaranteed experience.

Emulation also adds overhead and translation layers. A game may run quickly in one scene and struggle in another, even when the same PC is used. Shader compilation can briefly interrupt rendering as new effects are encountered, while incomplete emulation can produce missing effects, corrupted geometry or other artifacts.
What frame rate does it achieve?
DSOGaming’s August 14, 2026 report tested a special shadPS4 fork on an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 at 1080p. Its observations were:
| Game area | Reported result | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Opening sequence | Sometimes above 200 FPS | Single report on the specified high-end system, not a universal result |
| City sequence | About 60–84 FPS | Performance varied by scene and remained affected by emulation limitations |
| Overall behavior | Not a fixed 30 FPS | Shader-compilation stutters, visual glitches and artifacts were reported |
The same report noted that CPU and GPU utilization were well below full load. That points to a bottleneck elsewhere in the emulation stack rather than proof that the game has modest PC requirements. A faster graphics card alone may not remove stutter or raise performance in every scene.

| Category | Original PS4 release | Current PC route |
|---|---|---|
| Platform legitimacy | Official Sony/Ready At Dawn release for PlayStation 4 | Experimental shadPS4 emulator fork; no documented native Windows port |
| Frame rate and image behavior | Designed for the original console release | Reported from above 200 FPS in the intro to 60–84 FPS near the city, with scene-dependent behavior |
| Stability | Console software release | Shader stutters, glitches and artifacts reported in the current demonstration |
| Hardware requirements | PS4 hardware | Not formally published; tested on a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 4080 in the cited report |
| Controls and display options | PS4 system and controller environment | Potentially broader emulator configuration, but dependent on the fork and setup |
| Physical extras | Disc and retail editions, including a documented Collector’s Edition | No native PC retail package documented |
Can you play without a PS4?
Technically, the reported emulator build shows that the game can execute on a PC without the original console in the test setup. That does not make it an official PC version, and compatibility is not equivalent to a supported product. Readers should also obtain game software and any console data through lawful means and check the rules that apply in their country.
Rank #3
If you want the predictable, officially released route, use the PS4 version. If you experiment with emulation, expect configuration work, changing compatibility and graphical problems rather than a finished Windows port.
What is the game about?
The story takes place in an alternate-history Victorian London roughly 40 years after the Industrial Revolution. Players join an ancient order of knights confronting an ancient enemy. Official material identifies the monsters as Lycans, creatures with lupine and feline traits, while a rebellion also threatens London. Those setting and story details are unchanged by the way the game is run.
Where can you buy it?
The established retail product is the physical PS4 game. Sony documented a Collector’s Edition containing the game, a replica Knight’s vial pendant, woven coat-of-arms patches, symbol stickers, artwork postcards, digital content, the official soundtrack with bonus tracks and unreleased behind-the-scenes footage. When shopping for a used or new copy, confirm the disc’s region, condition, included extras and current price. A listing for “The Order: 1886 PS4 game” is not a listing for a native PC edition.
What to expect if you try the emulator
- Performance may change substantially between the opening and later environments.
- Shader compilation can cause pauses or hitching during play.
- Visual artifacts may remain even when the frame counter is high.
- The cited figures come from one report and one high-end configuration, not a standardized benchmark.
- Updates to the emulator fork can improve or break compatibility, so screenshots and settings from another build may not transfer.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Order: 1886 can be demonstrated on PC through experimental shadPS4 emulation, but it is neither a native Windows release nor a 30 FPS PC edition. The original official game is the PS4 release from February 20, 2015; current emulator footage shows variable performance, stutter and graphical faults.
