The OXS Storm G2 packs 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.3, a 3.5mm connection, two microphones, RGB lighting, and three sound modes into a budget headset. That makes it versatile on paper, but not universally wireless: OXS says Xbox use requires a controller cable, while PS4 and PS5 users should use the dongle rather than Bluetooth. Independent reviews also disagree on its sound and build quality. It is most compelling for players who will use its low-latency dongle and microphone—not simply for buyers attracted by a long specification list.
OXS Storm G2 at a glance
| Feature | What OXS lists |
|---|---|
| US list price | $79.99 on OXS’s US product page; the page also displayed a $20 promotional code and sold-out status when retrieved. Check the current listing for price and availability. |
| Connections | 2.4GHz dongle, Bluetooth 5.3, and 3.5mm AUX |
| Drivers and sound modes | 50mm dynamic drivers; Surround, Game, and Music presets; virtual 7.1 in Surround mode |
| Microphones | Detachable boom and built-in microphone, with ENC processing |
| Battery and weight | 1,000mAh; up to 40 hours with RGB off at 50% volume, according to OXS; 250g listed weight |
| Software | No companion software is identified in independent coverage. |
The figures in this table are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. The feature count is impressive for a headset listed at roughly $80, but value depends on which of those features you can actually use.
What makes the Storm G2 feature-packed?
Three ways to connect
The bundled Type-A/Type-C dongle provides 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.3 handles convenient connections to phones and other devices, and a 3.5mm AUX cable provides a wired fallback. OXS claims under 25ms latency and a 15m range for 2.4GHz, versus approximately 100ms latency and a 15m range for Bluetooth. Treat those figures as OXS claims, not test results. For games where timing matters, the dongle is the sensible wireless choice; Bluetooth is better suited to calls, media, and less latency-sensitive play.
Microphone options and presets
The detachable boom is joined by a built-in mic for calls or situations where you remove the boom. OXS lists environmental noise cancellation (ENC) for microphone communication and three hardware sound presets: Surround, Game, and Music. RGB lighting adds visual flair, but it is less useful than the second mic or the included dongle—and OXS’s battery claim falls when the lights are on.

Check platform compatibility before buying
| Platform | Practical connection | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| PC | 2.4GHz, Bluetooth, or 3.5mm | There is no companion customization software identified in independent coverage. |
| PS4 and PS5 | 2.4GHz dongle or 3.5mm | OXS says Bluetooth is not compatible; use the dongle for wireless play. |
| Xbox | 3.5mm through the controller | OXS’s US FAQ specifies the controller cable; wireless Xbox support is not listed. |
| Nintendo Switch | 2.4GHz, Bluetooth, or 3.5mm, depending on setup | Confirm USB audio support for the particular handheld or dock arrangement. |
| Phones and tablets | Bluetooth, supported USB-C dongle, or 3.5mm where available | Bluetooth is convenient, but its claimed latency is higher than 2.4GHz. |
| Laptops | 2.4GHz, Bluetooth, or 3.5mm | Use the dongle rather than Bluetooth for latency-sensitive games. |
OXS’s broad device list should not be read as a promise of identical wireless support everywhere. The OXS product page and FAQ clarify the key exceptions: Xbox is wired in the listed setup, and Bluetooth is not supported on PS4 or PS5. USB-C on the dongle is useful, but a particular console, dock, laptop, or phone still needs to support USB audio.

- 7.1 SURROUND SOUND — With our advanced 7.1 surround sound, enjoy true-to-life acoustics that optimizes the game’s sound design to hear everything like being right in the middle of it all
Sound: useful modes, but no guarantee of premium audio
OXS lists 50mm full-range dynamic drivers, a 20Hz–20kHz frequency response, 100 ±3dB sensitivity, and distortion of no more than 3%. These specifications describe the manufacturer’s claims; they do not establish how natural, balanced, or detailed the headset sounds. The 7.1 feature is virtual processing in Surround mode, not discrete surround speakers.
Independent impressions are mixed. PC Gamer presents it as a reasonable budget wireless headset and highlights its microphone, battery, and Game mode’s emphasis on footsteps. TechRadar notes weaker low-end response against a stronger alternative, while GamesRadar is more critical of sound and build quality. The G2’s specs are therefore a poor reason to assume it will outperform similarly priced rivals.

- Game mode: Try it for competitive titles where footstep cues matter; a more prominent cue is not automatically a more natural overall sound.
- Surround mode: Compare it with stereo rather than assuming virtual 7.1 improves positioning. Processing can change tonal balance and make effects less natural.
- Music mode: It is a preset for casual listening, not evidence of music-first performance. Listeners who want deeper bass or greater refinement may prefer another headset.
Microphone, comfort, and controls
The detachable omnidirectional boom is the main multiplayer mic; the built-in mic offers a backup for calls or boom-free use. OXS lists ENC, a microphone response of 50Hz–10kHz, and sensitivity of −42 ±2dB. PC Gamer and GamesRadar both count microphone performance among the headset’s stronger points. ENC applies to outgoing microphone communication; it is not active noise cancellation for the wearer. OXS describes passive noise reduction for the headset itself.
At 250g, with memory-foam earcups, protein-leather covering, an adjustable headband, and cups that rotate about 30 degrees, the design has useful comfort features. TechRadar found it relatively light and sufficiently comfortable but noted less-refined plastic panels and joins. Fit still depends on the wearer: clamp pressure, headband pressure, warmth from the covering, and glasses-related seal or temple pressure can all affect long sessions. The listed weight alone cannot guarantee comfort.

There are three presets, but the customization is hardware-level rather than app-based. TechRadar notes the lack of companion software, so buyers should not expect software EQ, per-game profiles, or a headset software ecosystem. OXS also says the buttons and EQ switching are unavailable when the headset is wired, which matters if you plan to use the AUX cable regularly.
Battery life and charging have a notable catch
OXS claims up to 40 hours of playback with RGB off and up to 24 hours with RGB on, both at 50% volume. The headset has a 1,000mAh battery and a listed four-hour charging time. These are manufacturer figures; real runtime can vary with volume, lighting, wireless mode, mic use, and battery age. Most importantly, OXS says the headset cannot be used while charging and switches off during charging. Keep it charged before a long session; do not assume plugging in will let you keep playing.

| Headset | Consider it if… | Trade-off versus the Storm G2 |
|---|---|---|
| Corsair HS55 Wireless | You are primarily a PC player and value Corsair iCUE software customization. | The Storm G2 emphasizes its own dual-format dongle, RGB, and accessory package instead. |
| EPOS H3 | You are happy with a cable and want to prioritize a wired alternative. | It does not meet a need for 2.4GHz or Bluetooth freedom. |
| Turtle Beach Stealth 500 | You want to compare a wireless alternative highlighted by GamesRadar for broader console appeal. | Check the specific connection features you need; the Storm G2 offers a 3.5mm fallback and RGB. |
| Razer BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed | You can spend more on a PC-focused option; GamesRadar positions it as a stronger choice for buyers prioritizing sound and build. | It is a higher-priced direction, not a direct budget substitute. |
These are alternatives for different priorities, not a claim that one wins every comparison. The Corsair is the clearest fit for software customization; EPOS suits someone content with wired use; Turtle Beach merits a look if console flexibility is the sticking point; and Razer is the step-up direction for PC buyers willing to spend more.
