How to enter cheats in The Sims 1
- While playing The Sims: Legacy Edition on PC, press Ctrl + Shift + C to open the cheat bar.
- Type a command from the list below. For commands with a value or on/off option, replace the example notation with the value or option you want.
- Press Enter to submit it.

Turns on the ability to move any object. |

set_hour (0-23) |
Sets the hour of the day. Enter an hour from 0 to 23 in place of the range. |
rotation (0-3) |
Rotates the camera. Enter a value from 0 to 3 in place of the range. |
interests |
Displays the selected Sim’s interests. |
autonomy (0-100) |
Sets the Sim’s free-will/autonomy level. Enter a value from 0 to 100 in place of the range. |
draw_floorable on |
Enables the floorable grid. |
draw_floorable off |
Disables the floorable grid. |
history |
Saves a family-history file. EA says to look for FamilyHistory.txt in the game installation location. |
nessie |
Brings up the Loch Ness monster in Downtown, Old Town, and Vacation neighborhood views. |
prepare_lot |
Fixes required lot objects. |
EA documents these commands and effects on its The Sims 1 cheats support page. Its page also lists diagnostic and display commands, including draw_all_frames, log mask, sim_log begin/end, and sim_speed; consult that page for the arguments as presented there.
Which version do these codes apply to?
EA’s current instructions describe The Sims: Legacy Edition on PC, so the shortcut and codes here should be treated as Legacy Edition PC guidance, not as a universal reference for every game release. The phrase “The Sims 1” can also refer to earlier PC releases and expansion-era versions, while console editions may use different controls.
A historical Windows manual result notes that some cheats require version 1.1 or later, including rosebud and move_objects on. That is evidence that compatibility can depend on version, but it does not establish a complete compatibility chart. The documented PC method here is Ctrl + Shift + C; Mac and console combinations, and compatibility across all expansions, localizations, and patches, are not established by EA’s Legacy Edition instructions.
