The 15 challenges below are player-made rules, not official game modes. Each can be adapted to the content available in your installed version.
How to keep a challenge base-game-only
EA describes The Sims 4 as a game about customizing Sims, designing homes, exploring neighborhoods, developing relationships, pursuing careers and skills, and choosing aspirations. The Gallery also lets players browse and share Sims, rooms and homes. Those features provide the ingredients for these challenges; the rules and win conditions here are suggestions, not official EA modes. See EA’s The Sims 4 feature overview and gameplay overview.

Keep the no-DLC rule literal: don’t require an add-on world, object, trait, aspiration, career, venue or gameplay system. Free updates can change the available feature set, so check your in-game options and substitute an equivalent base-game choice if an example is missing. EA presents additional content separately from base-game updates on its The Sims 4 purchase page.
Build-focused challenges
1. Rags to Riches
Start a new Sim on an empty lot with minimal funds. Earn money through ordinary base-game activities and build toward a furnished home. Decide on a finish line before you begin—for example, a modest completed home plus a savings target. Don’t rely on an income source that requires an add-on.

2. One-Room Starter Home
Build a livable home inside a strict footprint, such as one small room and a bathroom. Your goal is to fit the functions your Sim needs into the space, not to use a particular pack item. Count only content available in your game.
3. Tiny Budget Build
Choose a low spending limit and build a home without exceeding it. Track the total in Build Mode; prioritize essential rooms and furnishings before decoration. The budget is your own constraint, not a built-in game rule.
4. One Color, One Home
Choose a color and make it the dominant visual theme in every room. Treat the color as a design prompt rather than a demand that every item match exactly. Check the catalog for base-game options before planning around a particular object.
Create-a-Sim and goal-setting challenges
5. Starter-Sim Makeover
Choose a premade Sim or create one, then give them a coherent look and personality backstory using Create a Sim choices available to you. Add a second goal: design a home that suits the Sim’s aspiration. EA lists appearance customization and aspirations among the game’s features in its feature overview.
Rank #2

- Build the perfect home: Construct the home of your, and their dreams by planning its layout, choosing furnishings, and altering the landscape and terrain
- Explore vibrant worlds: Travel between locations, discover amazing and distinctive neighborhoods, and encounter captivating venues
- Play with life: Control the rich and entertaining moments of your Sims’ lives from their relationships to their careers
6. Aspiration Roadmap
Pick an aspiration that appears in your current game and work through its milestones. Set your own end point, such as completing the aspiration or reaching a particular milestone. Verify the in-game list instead of assuming every aspiration is part of the base game.
Live-gameplay challenges
7. Career Climb
Choose a career available in the base game and try to reach its top level. For extra roleplay, add a routine constraint—for example, have your Sim follow a consistent schedule around work. EA includes careers among the game’s activities in its gameplay overview.
8. Skill Specialist
Select one skill and set a target level for your Sim to reach. Make the home and daily routine reflect that interest using only available content. EA identifies skill development as one of the game’s ways to play in its gameplay overview.
9. Friendship Web
Build a social circle by making friends with a number of Sims you choose. For a clear finish line, set a target number of friendships and host a gathering using base-game venues and social activities available in your installation. The gameplay overview describes friendship and relationship-building as part of play.

10. Rivals to Friends
Tell a story about two Sims whose relationship starts badly and eventually becomes a friendship. Track the relationship arc yourself and choose a moment that counts as the turning point. It is a narrative challenge, not a built-in mode; EA’s gameplay overview describes both friendships and rivalries.
11. Multi-Generation Story
Play one household across generations. Give each generation a different aspiration, career or personal goal that exists in your current base-game installation. Treat the milestones as your family’s story structure rather than official rules.
12. Neighborhood Explorer
Visit neighborhoods and venues available in your game, then keep a short journal or screenshot record of each outing. EA describes travel and neighborhood exploration as part of play, but the worlds and venues available can vary, so make the list from what you can actually access.

13. Gallery-Inspired Room
Browse the Gallery for ideas, then build your own room using only items available in the base game. If you download a shared room, check its pack requirements before placing it; the challenge should still be completable by creating a room from your own catalog. EA describes Gallery browsing and sharing in its feature overview.
