EA’s original Digital Deluxe description listed that bonus plus Up All Night, Awesome Animal Hats, and a digital soundtrack. Console editions use different labels: Deluxe Party Edition includes the base game and three bonus content items, while Standard Edition includes the base game alone.
What each edition included
| Edition and context | What EA says it includes | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Limited Edition (2014 PC pre-order offer) | The Sims 4 base game and Life of the Party digital content | EA described it as a pre-order offer. Its announcement does not establish that copies or valid codes are still available. |
| Digital Deluxe (original PC/Origin product description) | Life of the Party, Up All Night, Awesome Animal Hats, and The Sims 4 Digital Soundtrack | This is historical product packaging described using Origin-era branding. |
| Deluxe Party Edition (console) | The Sims 4 base game, Life of the Party, Up All Night, and Awesome Animal Hats | EA Help’s console list does not include a soundtrack. |
| Standard Edition (console) | The Sims 4 base game | EA says Standard can be upgraded through the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store; current availability may vary. |
EA’s June 9, 2014 announcement said that people who pre-ordered would receive the Limited Edition with Life of the Party digital content: The Sims 4 Coming to Retailers Worldwide on September 2, 2014. The original Sims product page described Digital Deluxe as the four-item bundle in the table.
Why the names are easy to confuse
“Limited Edition” refers here to the 2014 PC launch pre-order offer. “Digital Deluxe” is the name used in the original PC product description. Console uses “Deluxe Party Edition,” a distinct bundle with its own listed contents. The names do not establish that the packages are interchangeable, available on every platform, or sold with the same extras.
There is no sourced indication that Limited Edition adds a distinct core gameplay system. The documented difference is the digital content bundled with the game.

How to decide what to buy or redeem
- Check the platform and exact edition name. A PC Limited Edition box, a PC Digital Deluxe listing, and a console Deluxe Party Edition are not the same package.
- Read the itemized contents. In particular, do not assume the console Deluxe Party Edition includes the soundtrack listed in the original PC Digital Deluxe description.
- For a second-hand copy, verify the code. The historical edition description cannot confirm whether a particular bonus code is unused or redeemable. Inspect the specific listing and confirm redemption status before buying.
- For a console upgrade, check your platform’s store. EA Help directs Standard Edition owners to the PlayStation or Xbox Store, but does not establish current availability or terms for every region: Get started with The Sims 4 on console.
- Confirm account and connection requirements. EA’s game overview says an applicable platform account, internet connection, and EA account may be required.
Edition bonuses are not the same as base-game updates
EA reported in 2025 that a Sims 4 base-game update added more than 70 new in-game items for all players. That is an update available to all players, not a count of Limited or Deluxe edition bonuses. EA also describes additional content as potentially requiring separate purchase. See EA’s 25th anniversary announcement and game overview.
