The Sims 4 skill cheat follows this pattern: stats.set_skill_level [skill code] [level]. Replace the bracketed parts with the exact internal code for the skill and the level you want. The code may differ from the name shown in-game, and the cap varies by skill: EA says most skills have 10 levels and minor skills have 5.
How to enter a skill cheat
Use the cheat console in Live Mode with the Sim whose skill you want to change selected. Enable cheats first, then enter the skill command. EA’s cheat FAQ gives the platform-specific console controls and warns about the console-save achievement effect.

How skill levels and caps work
EA’s general skills overview says most skills have 10 levels, while minor skills have 5. The word “most” matters: unusual, child, toddler, occult, animal, or hidden skills may not follow the standard pattern. EA specifically identifies Diving and Thanatology as five-level minor skills, using minor_diving and minor_thanatology.

Put the level you want at the end of the command. For example, the Programming command ending in 7 sets Programming to level 7; it does not automatically mean “max.” Use the correct cap for the specific skill when choosing a maximum-level command. EA’s skill overview
Finding codes for the rest of the skills
There is no single EA master page established here that lists every skill ID across all packs and special categories. EA’s skill-specific pages are the strongest reference for the skills they cover. A broad community inventory can help identify possible skills and the packs they come from, but its codes should not be copied without checking: it includes apparent errors, including an incorrect Diving prefix. If a skill command does not work
- Check the ID, not just the skill name. Internal codes vary: a skill may use
major_,minor_, or a different form such asskill_fitness. - Confirm cheats are enabled. Enter
testingcheats truebefore the skill command. - Check the requested level. Most standard skills cap at 10 and minor skills at 5, but confirm the specific skill’s cap rather than assuming.
- Check whether you have the required pack. Pack-specific skills are not necessarily present in a base-game installation.
- Make sure the intended Sim is active. Enter the command in Live Mode with that Sim selected.
