It was separate from Reaper’s Rewards, a free, limited-time event that ended in November 2024.
What did The Sims 4’s 2024 roadmap tease?
The Fall 2024 roadmap pointed toward a death-themed expansion. That tease became The Sims 4 Life & Death, rather than an expansion that is still forthcoming. A contemporaneous September 2024 creator video discussed the roadmap, while EA’s later product page confirms the pack’s final name and content: EA’s Life & Death overview.
What is The Sims 4 Life & Death?
Life & Death is an expansion about careers, goals, grief, ghosts and the afterlife. EA describes a Reaper Profession in which Sims can progress as Grimterns toward becoming a Reaper, and an Undertaker Career focused on funeral-industry work. Its other systems include playable ghosts, Ghost Mastery, Soul’s Journey, Bucket Lists, rebirth, grief types and the Mourningvale world.
In EA’s description, Soul’s Journey and Bucket Lists connect a Sim’s goals to rewards and possible rebirth. Ghosts can remain playable and develop powers. These are pack features; current regional pricing and storefront availability should be checked with the relevant retailer.

- The veil between life and death is thin in Ravenwood. Visit the countryside and perhaps take a swim by the mysterious face in the cliffs. Or, head into the village where you’ll find some odd goods forpurchase near the old Specter cemetery.
Was Reaper’s Rewards the expansion?
No. Reaper’s Rewards was a separate, free in-game event, and EA said players did not need another pack to participate. The event’s questline had players help Grim research Ambrosia. Its rewards included the Grimophone, clothing, a skill tome, Grim’s Cruiser bicycle, a lot challenge and other in-game objects—not physical merchandise.
EA announced the event on September 18, 2024, as an eight-week progression of quests and rewards. Quest progression ended November 19, 2024; players had until November 26 to claim rewards they had earned but not yet collected. Both deadlines have passed, so the event is no longer available to play or claim through its original schedule. See EA’s Reaper’s Rewards FAQ.

Which ghost features were free, and which required the pack?
EA’s October 22, 2024 base-game update added ghost-related features, including the ability to create playable ghosts, new ghost needs and death reactions. That update was distinct from Life & Death; the expansion is needed for its pack-specific careers, world and systems. EA’s notes identify the historical update as PC 1.110.265.1030, Mac 1.110.265.1230 and console 2.01. Those are version numbers for that update, not current game versions. EA’s product overview lists digital availability for PC through the EA app, Mac through Origin, Epic Games Store and Steam, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
