Spoilers: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has two post-credits scenes: Fox McCloud heads home while Lumalee guards Bowser and Bowser Jr., then Princess Daisy appears at Gateway Galaxy. Both scenes leave room for future stories, but neither confirms a third Mario movie or a Star Fox spin-off.

What happens in the post-credits scenes?

There are two scenes: one during the credits and one after they finish. The first revisits the prison holding Bowser and Bowser Jr.; the final scene returns to Gateway Galaxy. Nintendo Life’s April 1, 2026 guide reports both scenes, while the Los Angeles Times’ April 1, 2026 account describes their details.

Mid-credits: Fox leaves, and Lumalee takes guard

Fox McCloud says he is heading home as he leaves the prison. Lumalee, once a captive in the first film, is now guarding Bowser and Bowser Jr. Fox’s departure creates an opening for another adventure, and his appearance naturally invites Star Fox speculation. The scene does not establish that a Star Fox film has been approved or is in production.

Final scene: Daisy arrives at Gateway Galaxy

At Gateway Galaxy, Ukiki steals from a traveler and Princess Daisy intervenes. This is Daisy’s introduction to the movie series. She first appeared in the 1989 Game Boy game Super Mario Land and has since appeared in Mario games including Mario Kart, Mario Party and Super Smash Bros., according to the Los Angeles Times. Her appearance could provide a starting point for a future Mario story, but the scene does not specify what that story would be.

Does either scene confirm another sequel?

No. The scenes offer possible story directions, not an official greenlight. As of the official Nintendo materials cited here, a third Mario movie has not been announced. Nintendo’s September 12, 2025 announcement introduced The Super Mario Galaxy Movie; its January 25, 2026 release update gave that film’s release schedule, but neither announced a follow-up. Nintendo Life likewise reported no third film announcement in its April 1, 2026 guide. Sequel status can change, so this is a time-bounded answer rather than a claim about future announcements.

The distinction matters: an ending can plant a character or possibility for later without confirming a project. Fox heading home is not proof of a Star Fox spin-off, and Daisy’s arrival does not confirm that she will lead the next movie. No release date, title, premise, production status or returning cast for a third film is established by these scenes or the cited official announcements.

Why the scenes invite sequel speculation

Each scene leaves a different door open. Fox is a character from another Nintendo game world whose next destination is explicitly his home, while Daisy is a familiar Mario character newly introduced to the animated films. That gives fans concrete material to speculate about, but the scenes do not say whether either thread will continue—or whether a future film would follow one of them.

The film has also drawn a large audience: Nintendo reported more than US$800 million in worldwide box office during its first four weeks in its May 2026 investor presentation. That figure is a four-week worldwide total attributed to Nintendo; it is not an announcement of another film.
