In The Talos Principle 2, solve Backup in Wooded Plateau (East 2-3) by opening the blue side first, carrying the RGB Converter into the central area, then relaying the red signal through two Connectors before using the Converter to power the green receiver. The sequence keeps the red signal available while you move the Driller back to the blue wall.

Backup puzzle solution, step by step

This route is supported by walkthroughs from the Talos Principle Wiki and Neoseeker. The room’s exact angles may require small positioning adjustments.

  1. Open the blue side. Take the Driller and use it on the copper or metal wall on the blue side of the room.
  2. Bring a Connector through. Pull the Connector through the opening, then link the blue Emitter to the blue Receiver. This lowers the blue-side barrier.
  3. Move the RGB Converter. Retrieve it from the opened area and bring it into the central space.
  4. Open the red side. Move the Driller to the red-side wall and drill through it. Take the second Connector, then link the red Emitter to the red Receiver to lower that barrier.
  5. Set up the red relay. Use the second Connector to link the red Emitter to the first Connector, which is already positioned. This keeps the red signal relayed through the Connector setup after the Driller is moved.
  6. Return to the blue wall. Move the Driller back and reopen the blue-side wall so you can access the RGB Converter’s final position.
  7. Power the green Receiver. Connect the RGB Converter to the blue Emitter, the Connector carrying the red signal, and the green Receiver. Adjust the device links until the green barrier drops.
  8. Finish the puzzle. Go through the opened barrier and interact with the Progress Wheel.

Why the order matters

The key is making the red signal independent of the Driller’s position before moving the Driller away from the red wall. The two-Connector relay preserves access to red while the RGB Converter combines that red input with blue and sends green to the receiver guarding the Progress Wheel. Opening blue first also lets you move the RGB Converter into the central area before setting up the red side.

Where Backup fits in Wooded Plateau

Backup is the third main puzzle in Wooded Plateau, identified as East 2-3. The room’s relevant equipment includes a Driller, two Connectors, an RGB Converter, colored Emitters and Receivers, and the Progress Wheel. Walkthrough listings also refer to it as Wooded Plateau Puzzle 3; the Steam walkthrough index includes the puzzle in its sequence.
