Medals unlock rewards inside Warbonds; Super Credits buy access to Premium Warbonds and certain rotating-store items. You can earn both through gameplay. That means the free Helldivers Mobilize Warbond is a place to start, and buying Super Credits is optional—not a requirement for progressing through the game.
What type of currencies are in the game?
Helldivers 2 has several currencies and resources. For Warbond progression, the key distinction is between War Medals and Super Credits: they serve different purposes and cannot be substituted for one another.

These definitions follow Arrowhead Game Studios Player Support, updated September 7, 2026, in its guide to the game’s currencies, and PlayStation’s cadet’s guide to Helldivers 2.
How do Warbonds connect the two currencies?
Warbonds are reward tracks. Super Credits can buy access to certain tracks; Medals then unlock the rewards within the track. Purchasing a Warbond does not grant all of its contents.

- Start with Helldivers Mobilize. Arrowhead says the standard Warbond is free from the beginning.
- Earn and spend Medals. Choose rewards within an available Warbond. All Medals spent in a Warbond count toward the threshold for opening its next page, and you can choose the order in which to buy rewards.
- Use Super Credits for a Premium Warbond, if you want one. Arrowhead’s support page lists Premium Warbonds at 1,000 Super Credits. Legendary Warbonds have different pricing, so that price does not apply to every track.
- Keep earning Medals to unlock items. Access to a track and the items inside it are separate steps.
Arrowhead’s Warbond support guide says existing Warbonds remain available and can be completed at your own pace. They are not described as expiring battle passes.
Where do Medals come from?
Medals can be discovered during gameplay or awarded for objectives. PlayStation’s guide lists missions, Personal Orders, and community Major Orders. Arrowhead’s February 29, 2024 developer announcement also described Medals from objectives, missions, operations, and battlefield exploration.

For a specific mission’s reward, check its current in-game display. The official sources do not establish a consistent Medal-per-hour rate, and the reward examples should not be treated as a farming guarantee.
How do I get Super Credits for free in Helldivers 2?
Super Credits can be found through gameplay; they can also be purchased. Arrowhead’s current currency guidance confirms both paths, and PlayStation’s guide likewise describes them as available in-game and through the PlayStation Store.

The official sources do not establish a guaranteed amount per hour, a best difficulty for earning them, or a fixed time to reach a purchase threshold. Treat claims about reliable farming rates as unverified unless they include a dated method and evidence. Check the game’s current displays for available rewards rather than planning around a promised rate.

Arrowhead support’s August 26, 2025 Warbond guidance lists Premium Warbonds at 1,000 Super Credits and says Legendary Warbonds are priced differently. The standard Helldivers Mobilize track is free. Confirm the live cost in the Acquisition Center before deciding to spend, since catalog details can change.
Individual reward prices are paid in Medals, not Super Credits. PlayStation Malaysia’s guide gives the LAS-16 Sickle at 20 Medals on page 1 of Cutting Edge and the JAR-5 Dominator at 80 Medals on page 3 of Steeled Veterans. These are item-specific examples from that guide, not universal prices or a complete current catalog.
How should you decide what to work toward?
- If you want a particular item already in a Warbond, focus on earning Medals and check that item’s cost and page threshold.
- If you want access to another Premium Warbond, save Super Credits for its access cost rather than expecting Medals to unlock the track.
- If you are new, try the free Helldivers Mobilize rewards before choosing a Premium Warbond.
- Within a Warbond, prioritize rewards that address your current equipment needs; cosmetic rewards can wait if you would rather spend Medals elsewhere.
- If you are weighing a purchase, remember that Super Credits also have a gameplay acquisition path. The official material does not provide a dependable farming rate to calculate how long that path will take.
Arrowhead’s February 29, 2024 announcement described the intended design as non-expiring and said earlier Warbonds would not be retired as new ones arrived. For present-day rules, Arrowhead’s newer support guidance is the more current reference.
