To complete “The Unwritten Realms: Maleficent’s Gift” in Disney Dreamlight Valley, set the waiting-room “Now Serving” board to 9375, solve the Processing Room floor puzzle, then return Maleficent’s First Anchor Moment to her. Here’s the full quest sequence, including where to find the ticket pieces and how to open the puzzle room’s side area.
Before you start
This Storybook Vale story quest begins after “A Storm of Stories” and entry into the Unwritten Realms. You’ll need the Storybook Vale expansion; one quest walkthrough also lists “A Long-Awaited Invitation” as a prerequisite. The next quest in the chain is “The Unwritten Realms: The Spinning Wheel.”
How to complete Maleficent’s Gift

Speak with Maleficent and the Magic Quill
Go upstairs to the waiting room in the Unwritten Realms and talk to Maleficent. Then speak with the Magic Quill at the desk. Its estimated wait is five billion years—an in-game gag, not a real-world timer.

Find all three ticket pieces
Talk to Maleficent again, then search the waiting room for her three torn ticket pieces. One is behind the Magic Quill; look around the desk and seating areas for the others. The visual landmarks can be described differently across guides, so search the whole waiting room rather than relying on a particular chair or seat.

Set the “Now Serving” board to 9375
Inspect the ticket pieces, then interact with the queue board and enter 9375. Return to the Magic Quill and present the ticket to move on.

Activate the portal to the Processing Room
On the Review Floor, speak with the Review Magic Quill. Use the Royal Net on the nearby wheel to activate the portal, then enter it.

Open the side room and get the Missing Tile
In the Processing Room, rotate all three dragon-head mechanisms until they are upright. This opens the door to a water area. Fish the ripple there to obtain the Missing Tile, then place it in the center of the floor grid.

Solve the floor puzzle
Use the small clue grids around the room to work out the symbols for the larger floor grid. Match the symbol positions shown by the in-game clues; if a written symbol description seems to conflict with what you see, trust the clue grids and your current camera orientation. Collect the Anchor Moment and return to Maleficent
Go through the door that opens after the floor puzzle is solved and collect Maleficent’s First Anchor Moment. Return to the waiting room and give it to Maleficent to complete the quest.
Floor puzzle troubleshooting
- The side-room door is still closed: Check that all three dragon heads are upright. Then look for the water ripple and fish it to get the Missing Tile.
- The grid solution does not seem to fit: Recheck the small clue grids and compare their symbols with the large grid from your current viewpoint. Symbol orientation can be easy to misread in a text description, so use the in-game clues rather than guessing from an ambiguous transcription.
- You cannot advance from the waiting room: Make sure all three ticket pieces are collected, the board reads 9375, and you have presented the ticket to the Magic Quill.
What happens after the quest?
Giving Maleficent the First Anchor Moment completes “The Unwritten Realms: Maleficent’s Gift” and leads into “The Unwritten Realms: The Spinning Wheel.”
