That is a useful tip, not a verified all-game ranking. No complete count establishes that Gus says the name more than every other NPC.
How to hear Gus say your name
- Visit the Stardrop Saloon and talk to Gus. Player reports identify his conversations there as a repeatable way to hear your farmer’s name.
- Keep in mind that the conversation you get can vary. Dialogue may depend on conditions or random selection, so one visit is not a guarantee of a name-bearing line.
This is a practical community-reported approach, not a controlled test showing how many times Gus will say your name in a set number of days.

Why there is no proven “most” NPC
“Says your name the most” could mean the greatest number of unique dialogue lines containing the name, the highest chance of hearing one in a conversation, or the most repeatable mentions during ordinary play. Those are different comparisons. No exhaustive count by NPC, game version, platform, and dialogue context establishes a winner across all of them.
The farmer’s chosen name appears in some gameplay dialogue, but NPC dialogue is distributed across character-specific assets and other game data. Dialogue selection can check keys in priority order, and some lines are conditional or randomly selected. What you hear therefore depends partly on which situations you encounter. See the [Stardew Valley Wiki’s dialogue documentation] for how dialogue selection works.
#1 Best Overall
- For 1 to 4 players
- Ages 13+
- About 45 minutes per player
- A cooperative board game
- Based on the hit video game
What can change how often you hear your name
- Dialogue context: NPCs have different conversations in different situations, and not every line includes the farmer’s name.
- Conditions and selection: Some dialogue entries are conditional or random, so a particular line may not appear every time you speak to an NPC.
- Progress and timing: Player reports note that observed frequency can change over time; friendship, day, and the conversations available in a given context may affect what you hear.
- Version and platform: The available reports do not establish a frequency comparison across current versions or platforms.
What name-triggered item behavior does—and does not—mean
The Stardew Valley Wiki describes a naming format that can trigger item spawns when an NPC mentions the farmer by name, and its secrets page qualifies this behavior as PC- and mobile-only. Treat that as the wiki’s platform qualification, not a guarantee that the behavior works identically on every platform or current version. The possibility of triggering an item does not prove that any one NPC says the name most often.
For how the game handles character naming and name use in dialogue, see the Stardew Valley Wiki’s player page.

Bottom line on Gus
Try Gus at the Stardrop Saloon if you want a practical, repeatable chance to hear your farmer’s name. He is the strongest community-reported choice, but the available evidence does not support calling him the proven most frequent name-speaker in all of Stardew Valley.
