What Chandler Riggs’s Resident Evil short is
Biohazard is an independently made fan project, not a confirmed official Capcom movie. GamesRadar+ reports that Riggs serves as writer, director and lead performer. The short adapts the premise of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard: Ethan Winters searches for his missing wife and becomes trapped in the nightmare surrounding the infected Baker family.

When Biohazard is expected online
GamesRadar+ reported an online release date of October 14, 2026. The authoritative reporting date for this article is October 13, 2026, making the release scheduled rather than confirmed as already available. A post-publication update should verify where the short can be watched and whether the timing changed.
Why the short is being discussed alongside Zach Cregger’s film
The timing places Riggs’s fan film close to the rollout of Zach Cregger’s official Resident Evil adaptation. Sony Pictures lists Cregger as director and credits him and Shay Hatten as writers, with a theatrical release date of September 18, 2026.

- In San Francisco, Jill Valentine is dealing with a zombie outbreak, Leon Kennedy is tracking a kidnapped DARPA scientist and Claire Redfield is investigating a monstrous fish. Joined by Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers, they discover the trail of clues from their separate cases all converge on Alcatraz Island, where a new evil awaits their arrival.
Riggs told IGN, in comments quoted by GamesRadar+, that Biohazard was already in pre-production when news of Cregger’s movie emerged: “We were in pre-production when the article came out that Zack Cregger was going to do his [movie].” He also explained why the short did not arrive earlier: “We were trying to beat the clock and get it out about a month ago, but parts just didn’t align that way.”

- A special military unit fights a powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident.
Does Riggs want to appear in a Cregger sequel?
Riggs has expressed enthusiasm about the possibility, but there is no confirmed sequel, offer or casting agreement. In the same IGN interview, as relayed by GamesRadar+, he said: “So, if [Cregger] wants to continue in the universe, I’m all for it. Listen, my phone is open. Hit my line!”
That statement means Riggs would welcome an opportunity if Cregger continued the franchise. It does not announce that Sony has ordered another film, that Cregger has agreed to direct one, or that Riggs would reprise Ethan Winters in an official production.
