The company says games installed by that deadline will remain playable—but if you uninstall one afterward, you will not be able to download it again through Legacy Games. That is the important limit behind the homepage slogan, “Yours to keep forever.”
What Legacy Games customers need to do
If you have games in your account, install the ones you want to keep before February 28, 2027. Legacy Games recommends installing every title you want to retain while downloads are available. Its current closure FAQ says installed games remain playable, but it does not promise that you can restore them after deleting them or losing access to the computer where they are installed.

- Purchased digital games: Download and install them through the Legacy Games Launcher by February 28, 2027.
- Unredeemed physical-disc codes: Redeem them by December 31, 2026, while the store is open. Redemption adds the games to your Legacy Games account; you must still install them through the launcher by February 28, 2027.
- Games offered through Amazon Luna: Redeem them before the end of 2026, then install them through the launcher by February 28, 2027. The FAQ says the same access rules apply.
- Points, rewards, and Hero Club: Use remaining points and rewards before December 31, 2026. Hero Club memberships and perks end that day, and the FAQ says renewal charges will not occur starting January 1, 2027.
Legacy Games shutdown dates
| Date | What changes |
|---|---|
| December 1, 2026 | Last Game of the Month for Hero Club Superheroes and Ultimate Heroes. |
| December 31, 2026 | The store closes. Disc download codes can no longer be redeemed, and points, rewards, and Hero Club memberships end. |
| January 1, 2027 | The launcher is limited to downloading, installing, and playing purchased games. Purchasing packs and other functions go offline. |
| February 28, 2027 | Last day to download and install purchased games. The servers and website close. Games already installed remain playable according to the FAQ, but uninstalled games cannot be downloaded again. |
What “keep forever” means—and what it does not
Legacy Games’ homepage uses the slogan “Amazing games. Incredible value. Yours to keep forever.” Its closure FAQ puts a practical boundary on that promise: “You can download and install them until February 28, 2027, and any game you’ve downloaded and installed is yours to keep and play.” The same FAQ warns that “if you uninstall a game after that date, you won’t be able to download it again.”

In other words, the company says continued play applies to games already installed by the cutoff; it does not promise an ongoing right to re-download every purchase. The FAQ does not explain whether users can copy game files to another computer, restore them from a backup, or play them without the launcher. It also does not confirm a supported backup or offline-installer method. Do not assume a copied folder, external drive, or backup will make a game portable or restorable. For help with a specific account or title, contact Legacy Games support; the FAQ does not establish a general preservation procedure.

Why disc codes and installed games have different deadlines
A disc code is not the same as an installed game. You need to redeem an unused code while the store remains open, by December 31, 2026. After redemption, the title is associated with your account, but it still needs to be downloaded and installed through the launcher by February 28, 2027. Waiting until the download deadline to redeem a code will be too late.
Legacy Games’ FAQ gives the same launcher-installation deadline for titles obtained through Amazon Luna. Redeem those offers before the end of 2026, then install the games before the launcher’s download window closes.

What happens after February 28, 2027?
Legacy Games says its website and servers will close on February 28, 2027. The company’s stated assurance is that games already downloaded and installed remain playable. It does not establish what happens if the original computer fails, an operating-system change prevents a game from running, or a user needs to reinstall a title. The FAQ also does not confirm launcher-independent play, transferable files, or an official offline installer. Those details remain unresolved in the published closure information.
