If you already own the base game, update it and check your platform’s library or store entitlement before paying again. For a boxed copy, the Nintendo Switch Complete Edition is an option, but verify its platform and region on the listing.
Which edition should you buy?
- New buyer on PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S: Find The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered in your intended store. CD PROJEKT RED says it is available through GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, Microsoft Store, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and includes Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Store labels can vary. CD PROJEKT RED’s September 29, 2026 announcement says Remastered replaces Complete Edition on supported platforms.
- Already own the base game: Update the game, then check your platform’s library or store for the expansion entitlements before buying another copy. CD PROJEKT RED says the two original expansions are available to base-game owners at no extra cost; the claim or download route depends on platform.
- PS4 or Xbox One owner: Keep your existing game and claim or download the two expansions free through the platform route. The previous-generation console versions otherwise remain unchanged, according to the official support FAQ.
- Want a boxed copy for Nintendo Switch: CD PROJEKT RED’s Switch support page says the physical Complete Edition includes the base game, 16 free DLC items, and both major expansions. Confirm the exact platform and region on the package or retailer listing.
- Considering the announced third expansion: Treat Songs of the Past as a future, separate purchase unless CD PROJEKT RED publishes bundle details. It is planned for 2027, but its price and inclusion with existing editions or expansions have not been established in the cited announcement.

If you already own The Witcher 3
Do not assume you need to buy a new edition to get the original expansions. CD PROJEKT RED’s support instruction is: “Simply update the game to the latest version to install Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.” The same FAQ says the standalone expansions are delisted and that the base game is replaced by Complete Edition in affected digital storefronts. Existing owners retain their library entitlements, saves, cross-progression, achievements, and trophies, and can start the expansions separately from the main menu.
- Update The Witcher 3 to the latest version available for your platform.
- Open your game library or the platform store and check whether Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are available to claim or download.
- On PS4 or Xbox One, use the platform’s free expansion download route described by CD PROJEKT RED Support.
- If you own the original Nintendo Switch game and are claiming the Remastered upgrade on Switch 2, follow the ownership and entitlement instructions in CD PROJEKT RED’s Remastered announcement.
Why older buying advice may not match current listings
Earlier guides commonly recommended Complete Edition to get both expansions. That matched its prior packaging: CD PROJEKT RED’s December 14, 2022 notice described Complete Edition as bundling Hearts of Stone, Blood and Wine, and 16 pieces of extra content. The current arrangement has changed: the support FAQ describes standalone expansions as delisted and the base game as replaced by Complete Edition in affected stores, while the September 2026 Remastered announcement says Remastered replaces Complete Edition on supported platforms. Use the live listing for your platform rather than relying on an older edition name.

CD PROJEKT RED announced Songs of the Past as a third expansion planned for 2027. The announcement does not establish its final price or whether it will be included with Remastered, Complete Edition, or either original expansion.
