The Witcher 3 lets you change Geralt’s hair and beard at in-game barbers. There is no official best-to-worst order, so the ranking below is an editorial guide based on how recognizable, dramatic, or distinctive each look feels. The Beard and Hairstyle Set is free DLC, and CD Projekt Red says its options are available from various barbers in the game world (CD Projekt Red, June 12, 2015).
Which Geralt hairstyle and beard should you choose?
The familiar Geralt look is tied-back hair with a restrained beard. For a more dramatic silhouette, choose long loose hair or shaved sides with a ponytail. If you want a cut that stands out from the standard options, the elven-rebel style is a strong choice; Blood and Wine adds the Queen’s Pageboy as a quest-linked alternative.

| Ranked look | Hair and beard pairing | Why choose it |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Most recognizable | Tied-back hair with a short-trimmed full beard | It keeps Geralt close to his familiar, composed appearance. “Most recognizable” is an editorial judgment, not an official game ranking. |
| 2. Most dramatic | Long loose hair, or shaved sides with a ponytail | Long hair makes the strongest change in length; shaved sides create a sharper silhouette. |
| 3. Most distinctive | Elven-rebel cut; Queen’s Pageboy for Blood and Wine owners | Both depart from the more familiar tied-back look. The Pageboy is an expansion-specific, quest-linked option. |
| 4. Best for a beard that stays put | A fixed facial-hair style such as a goatee, mutton chops, or moustache combination | Community reference material reports that most selected beard styles stay fixed, while clean-shaven and short-trimmed full-beard selections can grow out. |
These categories are subjective style suggestions, not rankings published by CD Projekt Red. Hair choices include tied-back hair, long or shorter loose hair, shaved hair with a ponytail, shaved sides with a short top and ponytail, and the elven-rebel cut. Beard-menu choices include clean-shaven, a fluffy beard, a neat goatee, a short-trimmed full beard, a bushy goatee with short moustache, mutton chops, a moustache with soul patch, sideburns with moustache, and a moustache with a small ducktail. Labels here describe the looks rather than claim an official name for every menu selection (Game8’s hairstyle guide; Witcher Wiki’s Beard and Hairstyle Set reference).

How to get the Queen’s Pageboy
The Queen’s Pageboy is the exception to the usual barber availability: it is associated with Jean-Louis Ludovic in Beauclair and the Blood and Wine quest “Of Sheers and a Witcher I Sing.” Do not expect to find it at every barber. The quest and hairstyle association is reported by Game8’s hairstyle guide and the Witcher Wiki reference.

What the free Beard and Hairstyle Set includes
CD Projekt Red announced the Beard and Hairstyle Set as free DLC on June 12, 2015, describing it as a set of beards and hairstyles available from various barbers in the game world (official announcement). The set provides customization options; the location-by-location list and beard-growth behavior above come from secondary game references rather than that announcement.
