To finish “Practicum in Advanced Alchemy,” help Gremist with three errands: retrieve pimpernel in Morskogen Forest, make Skellige spirit at the abandoned Hail Hill distillery, and persuade Fritjof in Blandare to join Gremist’s rite. The quest can show these tasks in a different order, and you may already have the pimpernel.
Find pimpernel in Morskogen Forest
Go to the quest marker in Morskogen Forest, south of the Druids’ Camp, and use Witcher Senses. The flowers have already been picked, so search for tracks rather than expecting pimpernel to be waiting at the marker.

- Inspect the area with Witcher Senses and follow the tracks.
- Continue downhill when the tracks divide. The route described in the walkthrough leads past white wolves to an encounter involving an armored arachas and a succubus.
- Resolve the encounter with the druid and succubus. If you side with the succubus, follow her to her lair and take the pimpernel there. The walkthrough says the flower can be obtained whichever side you choose.
If you collected pimpernel before starting this errand, it may already satisfy the task. The guide describes a branch in which siding with the druid means killing the succubus; siding with the succubus lets you follow her to the lair. Combat vulnerability details can vary by game patch, so this guide does not treat older steel-versus-silver advice as current.
Make Skellige spirit at the Hail Hill distillery
The abandoned distillery is on Hail Hill. A cyclops is reported at the cave or distillery, and alghouls may be on the approach. Clear any enemies blocking access, then work through the equipment and ingredients:

- Search the small shack for the Distiller’s Log and the letter or instructions explaining the process. The walkthrough mentions the letter/instructions, but the quest-item list does not establish its exact inventory name.
- Read the instructions, then find the mash.
- Use the distilling machine and collect the resulting Skellige spirit.
If the machine will not work or the errand does not advance, make sure you have agreed to help Gremist and have read the instructions. The walkthrough says the distillery cannot be used for this quest before accepting Gremist’s task.
Recruit Fritjof for Gremist’s rite
Find Fritjof in Blandare and persuade him to speak with Gremist. Accompany him to the ritual site and defend him while he performs the rite. The walkthrough sources identify this as one of Gremist’s three tasks but do not establish every dialogue choice, so choose the conversation options that keep Fritjof willing to help.

Return to Gremist
After completing all three tasks, go back to Gremist. The walkthrough reports that he accepts Geralt as an apprentice and asks him to wait until the next day while the rite is conducted. Speak with him afterward to ask about the reward.

The quest-item reference lists four associated items. The separate walkthrough also mentions a letter or instructions at the distillery, without establishing that item’s exact inventory label.
