Some players have reported *The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered* characters rendering as floating eyes and teeth, with the rest of the NPC model missing. The images recall a notorious *Assassin’s Creed Unity* launch-era visual bug, but the resemblance is about appearance only: no shared technical cause has been established.
What players are seeing
GamesRadar+ reported player posts and screenshots showing multiple NPCs with their bodies or facial details failing to render, leaving eyes and teeth visible. One player said a character’s body reappeared after they left the area and returned. That is a single player’s account, not a verified or dependable fix.
The report also described a player encountering a noticeable bug after 15 hours of play. That is an individual playtime anecdote, not a measure of how often the glitch occurs or how many players are affected.
Why players are comparing it to Assassin’s Creed Unity
The comparison refers to the look of the images. At *Assassin’s Creed Unity*’s launch, some NPC faces failed to load, producing similarly unsettling images of floating facial features. GamesRadar uses that history to frame the new screenshots; it does not establish that the two games share a bug, engine problem, or technical cause.
#1 Best Overall
- Trained from early childhood and mutated to gain superhuman skills, strength, and reflexes, witchers are a counterbalance to the monster-infested world in which they live.
- Built for endless adventure, the massive open world of The Witcher sets new standards in terms of size, depth, and complexity.
- Take on the most important contract of your life: to track down the child of prophecy, the key to saving or destroying this world.
“Ghost of Assassin’s Creed Unity” is therefore a visual description, not an official name for a *Witcher 3* feature or confirmed defect.
Is it widespread, and what causes it?
The available reporting does not establish which platforms are affected, how frequently the glitch occurs, steps that reliably reproduce it, or its underlying cause. It also does not establish whether the issue persists after later updates. The player reports are evidence that examples have been posted, not proof that every player—or any particular platform—is affected.

What the official updates and support guidance say
The Remastered edition launched on September 29, 2026. CD PROJEKT RED described it as a free upgrade for eligible existing owners on several platforms and listed purchase availability through Battle.net and the Microsoft Store.
On October 1, CD PROJEKT RED published notes for patch 5.00b and hotfix 5.00c. The 5.00b notes covered, among other adjustments, Xbox Play Anywhere PC DLSS availability and lighting. Hotfix 5.00c covered issues including saving and loading, audio, Velen visuals, HairWorks-related performance and visuals, telemetry, GOG achievements, and the Classic version launcher. Neither set of notes mentions NPCs rendering as floating eyes and teeth.

- If you buy this game, you will receive a free next-gen update on December 14th!
- Play as a highly trained monster slayer for hire.
- Built for endless adventure, the massive open world of The Witcher sets new standards in terms of size, depth and complexity.
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year edition brings together the base game and all the additional content released to date.
That omission means the symptom is not addressed in those notes; it does not prove the developers have never received a report or that no later change exists. CD PROJEKT RED’s 5.00b notes also said the team was investigating reports submitted through technical support, without identifying this particular visual issue.

- Leave the area and return: One player reportedly saw a character’s body return after doing this. Treat it as an anecdotal observation, not a guaranteed workaround.
- Check for updates: Official updates have addressed other launch issues, but the October 1 notes do not list this NPC appearance symptom. An update is not a confirmed fix for it.
- Report the issue to technical support: Include your platform, game version, where it happened, what you were doing, and whether it recurs. A screenshot or video may help describe the visual symptom.
- Consider reverting only if appropriate for your platform: CD PROJEKT RED’s support FAQ says reverting to an earlier version may be possible depending on platform. It does not recommend this as a remedy for the missing-model report.
Edition details that are easy to confuse with a fix
CD PROJEKT RED’s FAQ says existing saves are compatible with Remastered, but skills are reset because the skill system was overhauled. These are general edition changes, not troubleshooting steps for NPCs failing to render.
