1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesYes, the Xbox and WEBTOON giveaway was real. WEBTOON Entertainment and Xbox launched Sea of Thieves: The Last Bite, a free, five-episode English-language comic, on January 27, 2026. During the campaign window, readers who completed all five episodes could claim a one-month trial of Xbox Game Pass Premium.
The reward was Premium, not Game Pass Ultimate, and it was a limited-time promotion rather than a permanently available free month. The comic is still listed as free and complete on WEBTOON, but the associated Game Pass offer is no longer claimable.
Xbox and WEBTOON giveaway dates
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| January 27, 2026 | Sea of Thieves: The Last Bite launched on WEBTOON with all five episodes available. |
| January 27–February 13, 2026 | Eligible readers could complete the five-episode campaign and claim the Game Pass trial. Existing Game Pass members and WEBTOON Premium members could also claim separate partnership rewards during this period. |
| February 13, 2026 | Participation in the promotion ended. |
| February 17, 2026 | The separate Sea of Thieves emote for WEBTOON Premium subscribers was scheduled to appear in the WEBTOON app’s Coupon Box. |
| March 15, 2026 | Final deadline for redeeming the Game Pass promotional codes. |
These dates come from WEBTOON’s official announcement. Because both the participation deadline and the code-redemption deadline have passed, a new reader cannot legitimately start the original offer now.
What the promotion actually offered
The reader-facing reward was a one-month free trial of Xbox Game Pass Premium. The official announcement did not describe it as a permanent subscription or as a free month of Ultimate.

- MODERNIZED DESIGN — Experience the modernized design of the XBOX Wireless Controller with sculpted surfaces and updated geometry that enhances comfort and control during long gaming sessions.
- PRECISION PERFORMANCE — Stay on target with a hybrid D-pad and textured grips on triggers, bumpers, and back case for improved accuracy and handling.
- SHARE BUTTON: Seamlessly capture and share content such as screenshots, recordings, and more with the new Share button.
- VERSATILE CONNECTIVITY — Connect via USB-C for plug-and-play on console and PC, or quickly pair and switch between supported devices with XBOX Wireless and Bluetooth support.
- BUILT-IN AUDIO SUPPORT — Plug in compatible headsets using the 3.5mm audio jack for direct voice chat and immersive in-game sound.
That distinction matters. Xbox’s current plan information describes Game Pass Premium as offering:
- More than 200 games on Xbox consoles, PC, and supported devices;
- Cloud gaming;
- Online console multiplayer;
- Game Pass benefits and rewards; and
- New Xbox-published games within one year of launch, rather than necessarily on day one.
Those are the features shown on the current Xbox Game Pass page at the time of this update. Catalogs, features, plan names, pricing, and regional availability can change, so they should not be treated as a permanent description of what every historical trial included.
Premium was not Ultimate
The current Xbox plan comparison distinguishes Premium from Ultimate. The comparison lists day-one game releases, EA Play, Fortnite Crew, and Ubisoft+ Classics with Ultimate rather than Premium. Therefore, an article or social post calling the WEBTOON reward a free month of Ultimate is inaccurate.
The practical description is: this was a short Premium trial for eligible accounts. It was not a way to obtain Ultimate benefits, and it did not guarantee that every reader could activate the code.

How the original claim process worked
The official campaign materials confirm the important part of the process: readers had to complete all five episodes during the January 27–February 13 campaign window, then claim and redeem the promotional offer. The announcement does not preserve every screen or document a complete step-by-step email workflow.
Based on the official five-episode requirement and contemporaneous reporting, the historical process was most likely:
- Sign in to or create a WEBTOON account.
- Open Sea of Thieves: The Last Bite. The official WEBTOON series page lists five episodes.
- Read all five episodes before February 13, 2026. Merely opening the series landing page was not the published requirement.
- Follow the completion prompt that appeared after the qualifying reading activity.
- Submit an email address for the promotional code, according to the user-facing workflow described in secondary reporting and community reports.
- Redeem the code through Microsoft while signed in to the intended Xbox or Microsoft account. Microsoft’s general instructions are available in its code-redemption support guide.
- Check the account’s subscription and recurring-billing settings after activation.
The prompt, email-delivery, and app-specific details above should be understood as a reconstruction of the historical user experience, not as a complete set of official campaign terms. The primary announcement confirms the five-episode qualification, the Premium trial, and the relevant dates, but not every individual screen.
What is Sea of Thieves: The Last Bite?
Sea of Thieves: The Last Bite is a completed action miniseries written by Chris Allcock and illustrated by Rhoald Marcellius. Its story follows a new pirate crew facing a missing captain, a sinking ship, damaged trust, and the mystery surrounding the theft of the Last Bite.

All five episodes were released at once on January 27, 2026:
- Episode 1 — January 27, 2026
- Episode 2 — January 27, 2026
- Episode 3 — January 27, 2026
- Episode 4 — January 27, 2026
- Episode 5 — January 27, 2026
The official WEBTOON listing still shows the series as free and completed. That continuing availability is separate from the giveaway: the comic remains readable, but reading it after the deadlines does not recreate the claim prompt or issue a valid Game Pass code.
The collaboration also worked in the opposite direction
The Game Pass trial was only one part of the partnership. Xbox’s official announcement described rewards for existing subscribers and WEBTOON readers as well.
Game Pass subscribers could claim WEBTOON Premium
Existing Xbox Game Pass subscribers on all tiers could claim one month of WEBTOON Premium at no cost during the January 27–February 13 offer window. The benefit was available through the Benefits Hub in:

The announced WEBTOON Premium benefits included:
- 100 monthly credits;
- 10 bonus credits;
- ad-free reading;
- episode discounts; and
- a 15% coupon for selected WEBTOON Shop purchases.
WEBTOON Premium subscribers could claim a Sea of Thieves emote
WEBTOON Premium subscribers were offered a limited-time Sea of Thieves in-game emote. Xbox said it was scheduled to appear in the WEBTOON app’s Coupon Box on February 17, 2026.
This reciprocal offer did not extend the Game Pass trial deadline. The emote, the WEBTOON Premium month, and the Game Pass Premium trial were separate benefits with their own qualification and delivery details.
Eligibility: what was confirmed and what was not
The campaign’s public announcement did not include a complete country-by-country eligibility table, nor did it explicitly say that the Game Pass code was available only to people who had never subscribed before. That leaves important limits that should not be presented as settled facts.
| Question | What can safely be said |
|---|---|
| Was it for new Game Pass users only? | The official WEBTOON announcement did not clearly say so. However, Xbox promotional offers can be restricted to new subscribers, and recipients reported that the code appeared to be limited to eligible or new Game Pass users. Previous trials or subscriptions may have caused rejection. |
| Was it worldwide? | The comic was launched on WEBTOON’s English-language platform, but the announcement did not publish a complete global eligibility list. Xbox warns that plans, offers, features, and availability vary by region, platform, and account. |
| Was a payment method required? | The campaign announcement does not clearly establish whether this particular code required a card or other payment method. Xbox’s general promotional terms warn that a payment method may be required for live offers. |
| Did the trial automatically renew? | Do not assume that the historical code had identical checkout terms to every current promotion. For current Xbox offers, inspect the checkout screen and subscription settings: Xbox says recurring billing is normally enabled unless it is canceled. |
The safest summary is that the code was for eligible accounts, not necessarily every WEBTOON reader. Region, account history, an existing Game Pass plan, and the terms attached to the individual code could all matter. Creating another Xbox account should not be treated as a guaranteed way around eligibility rules.

Why some people did not receive or redeem the code
These problems matter mainly to people who completed the campaign and received a code before March 15, 2026. They cannot restore the expired offer for a new participant.
No prompt appeared after episode five
Community reports indicated that some readers did not see the completion prompt, with some users having better results in the official WEBTOON mobile app. This behavior was not documented in the primary press release.
At the time, the sensible checks were:
- Confirm that the reader was signed in to a WEBTOON account.
- Open each of the five episodes instead of only visiting the series page.
- Reach the end of episode five.
- Try the official WEBTOON app if the browser flow did not trigger the prompt.
- Contact WEBTOON support rather than repeatedly creating accounts.
Today, a missing prompt is generally explained by the expired campaign window rather than by a remaining step that can unlock a new code.
The code email never arrived
The official announcement did not promise a delivery time. Secondary coverage and user reports described delays ranging from minutes to several days, so claims that every code arrived instantly—or within a guaranteed one- or two-hour period—are unsupported.
Historical checks included:
- Spam, junk, and promotions folders;
- the exact email address entered at the campaign prompt;
- whether the WEBTOON account was signed in;
- whether all five episodes were completed; and
- whether the participation deadline had already passed.
If the email was not received before the campaign’s support and redemption windows closed, there is no current claim path. These delivery delays came from secondary and community reports, not from an official WEBTOON service-level promise.
The code says it is expired
The final official redemption date was March 15, 2026. After that date, an old code should be treated as expired even though the comic remains online.
Microsoft says the account is ineligible
Possible explanations include:
- the Microsoft account had previously used Game Pass or a Game Pass trial;
- the account already had an active Game Pass subscription;
- the offer was not available in the account’s region;
- the code had already been redeemed;
- the code was entered while signed in to the wrong Microsoft account; or
- the code had passed its redemption deadline.
Only the March 15 expiration date is directly confirmed as a universal campaign deadline in the primary announcement. The other explanations reflect general promotional-code conditions and reported user experiences, not a fully published eligibility table for this specific giveaway.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.What readers can still do now
- Read the comic. All five episodes of Sea of Thieves: The Last Bite remain listed as free and complete on WEBTOON.
- Check the official Xbox Game Pass page for current offers. Any new trial or discount must be evaluated under its own current eligibility, regional, payment, and renewal terms.
- Use Microsoft’s official redemption flow for a valid current code. Sign in to the Microsoft account that should receive the subscription, then follow Microsoft’s code-redemption instructions.
- Review recurring billing after activating any current promotion. Do not assume a trial ends without renewal; check the account’s subscription settings and cancel recurring billing if appropriate.
Readers should not expect the old WEBTOON campaign to work, and should be cautious about buying or sharing purported codes from unofficial sources. A code circulating online cannot change the official March 15 deadline or bypass Microsoft’s account and regional eligibility checks.

Why the original headline was easy to misread
The headline description was broadly based on a genuine promotion, but several shortcuts could give readers the wrong impression:
- It was not a new Xbox-owned WEBTOON platform. The offer was attached to a new Sea of Thieves comic published on WEBTOON through a partnership with Xbox and Rare.
- It is not an active giveaway in August 2026. The campaign ended February 13, and code redemption ended March 15.
- It was Premium, not Ultimate. The exact tier named in the official announcement was Game Pass Premium.
- It was not automatically available to everyone. The public announcement did not fully define new-subscriber, regional, or account-history restrictions.
- The comic’s availability does not mean the reward is available. The five episodes remain online as a completed free series, but that does not reopen the promotion.
- There were reciprocal rewards. Game Pass members could receive WEBTOON Premium, while WEBTOON Premium members could receive a Sea of Thieves emote.
The official records are the best source for the campaign dates and core offer: see the WEBTOON announcement and Xbox’s partnership announcement. User reports are useful for understanding the old prompt and email problems, but they should not be mistaken for official terms.
Frequently Asked Questions
Was the Xbox and WEBTOON Game Pass giveaway legitimate?
Yes. WEBTOON Entertainment and Xbox officially promoted a one-month Xbox Game Pass Premium trial for eligible readers who completed all five episodes of Sea of Thieves: The Last Bite. The promotion was real, but it ended on February 13, 2026, and codes expired on March 15, 2026.
Can I still get the free month by reading the Sea of Thieves comic?
No. The comic remains free and complete on WEBTOON, but reading it after the campaign window does not create a new code or reopen the offer.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Was the free month Game Pass Premium or Ultimate?
It was specifically a one-month trial of Xbox Game Pass Premium. It was not a free month of Ultimate. Xbox’s current comparison page lists several Ultimate benefits—including day-one releases, EA Play, Fortnite Crew, and Ubisoft+ Classics—that are not included with Premium.
Did the offer require a new Xbox account?
The official campaign announcement did not publish a complete new-subscriber rule. However, Xbox promotional offers may be restricted to new subscribers, and users reported rejections linked to previous Game Pass use or trials. Creating a new account was not an officially guaranteed workaround.
Why might a completed campaign have produced no code?
Historical reports pointed to missing completion prompts, email delays, spam filtering, account sign-in issues, and possible eligibility restrictions. The official announcement did not promise a delivery time. After March 15, 2026, an undelivered or unused campaign code cannot be redeemed through the original offer.
Can I still read Sea of Thieves: The Last Bite?
Yes. The completed five-episode series remains listed as free on the official WEBTOON page. Its continued availability is separate from the expired Game Pass promotion.
The Bottom Line
The Xbox–WEBTOON giveaway was genuine, but it was a time-limited January–March 2026 promotion—not an active free Game Pass offer in August 2026. Completing the five-episode Sea of Thieves: The Last Bite comic once qualified eligible readers for a one-month Game Pass Premium trial, not Ultimate. The comic is still free to read, while current Game Pass offers must be checked separately on Xbox’s official site.
