Retro Games Ltd.’s THEA1200 is a full-size recreation of the Amiga 1200, with a working keyboard, HDMI output, USB connectivity and 25 preloaded games. Its currently announced launch date is December 4, 2026; preorders were announced to begin November 10, 2025. The maker describes it as an emulation-based system, not a newly manufactured original Commodore computer.

What THEA1200 is—and what it is not

Retro Games Ltd. describes THEA1200 as a full-size reimagining of the Amiga 1200. It emulates the A1200’s AGA configuration and also supports the earlier Amiga 500’s OCS and ECS configurations, according to the official product page. It is not a newly manufactured original Commodore Amiga 1200.

The maker says the system includes a Workbench desktop and a working, full-size keyboard. HDMI connects it to a modern display, while USB supports the included controls and loading games owned by the user. The company says USB loading supports WHDLoad. It also lists four save slots per game, with the ability to save and resume play. These are manufacturer-stated features; no independent hands-on test results are available here.

Which games are included?

The manufacturer lists these 25 preloaded titles:

  • Alien Breed: Tower Assault
  • Beneath a Steel Sky
  • Defender of the Crown
  • Defender of the Crown II
  • It Came from the Desert
  • Antheads: It Came from the Desert
  • Lords of the Rising Sun
  • Lure of the Temptress
  • Mercenary: Escape from Targ
  • Reshoot Proxima 3
  • Rocket Ranger
  • Ruff ’N’ Tumble
  • S.D.I.
  • The Settlers II
  • Sinbad: The Throne of the Falcon
  • Slam Tilt
  • The King of Chicago
  • Turrican
  • Turrican II: The Final Fight
  • Turrican III: Payment Day
  • TV Sports: Baseball
  • TV Sports: Basketball
  • TV Sports: Boxing
  • TV Sports: Football
  • Wings

Owners can also load their own games from USB, according to the manufacturer’s product details; the listing does not establish compatibility with every game or file.

When does THEA1200 launch?

Retro Games Ltd.’s current product page lists December 4, 2026, as the launch date. The company’s October 23, 2025 announcement had originally named June 16, 2026, and said preorders would begin November 10, 2025. The date has since changed to December; the original June date is no longer the current announced schedule.

In May 2026, Tom’s Hardware reported that the company attributed the delay to global chip shortages, rising plastic production costs and a desire for more time to refine system software. Tom’s Hardware’s report and heise online’s May 6, 2026 report describe the software as functional but still in need of refinement. Those supply-chain explanations are the company’s stated reasons, not independently established findings.
