The report described a concept in development, not a confirmed commercial release. The available reporting does not establish whether the project was later released, cancelled, renamed, or continued.
What the prototype showed
In the promotional video covered by Futurism, players ran around a city while digital game elements appeared in their surroundings. They collected pixelated powerups, shot at one another, and took cover behind real cars and buildings. The footage also showed digital bullet impacts appearing on real-world objects.

Futurism characterized the footage as a prototype demo and said details were scarce. It presented the idea as a “world-scale” shooter because its play area was the surrounding environment rather than a conventional screen or bounded virtual arena.

How the reported setup worked
Players mounted phones on gun-shaped controllers built by Arkade Games. The report attributed the augmented-reality environment to crowdsourced digital mapping technology from Immersal. It did not name a controller model or establish that the setup was independently tested, remains available to buy, or works with any particular phone.

Immersal’s official news page describes its AR game arcade solution and spatial-mapping and visual-positioning technology. That offers context for the kind of infrastructure associated with the demo; it does not confirm that Pixeloco still uses Immersal or that the specific shooter progressed beyond the prototype shown in 2021.
Why playing in public raised a concern
Futurism questioned whether passersby would recognize the brightly colored plastic controllers as props. Someone seeing players run and aim gun-shaped devices could mistake the activity for real aggression. The reporter argued that this risk made the open-world style shown in the video seem unrealistic.

That was the article’s concern about how the concept might be perceived in public, not a report of an injury or incident and not a formal safety assessment. The footage and article do not establish what safeguards, if any, were planned for public play.

Was the game ever released?
The cited reporting establishes that Pixeloco was developing the concept and that a prototype demo was shown in January 2021. The available sources do not establish whether the project was subsequently released, cancelled, renamed, or continued. The lack of a confirmed later status is not evidence that it was cancelled.
