What is known about the 546.33 driver issue?
NVIDIA lists GeForce Game Ready Driver 546.33 as a WHQL release for Windows 10 and Windows 11, dated December 12, 2023. Its release page does not document a Street Fighter 6 shader-quality regression or identify a later driver as fixing one: NVIDIA’s 546.33 release information.

The reports that prompted this concern are individual player accounts, not controlled tests or confirmation from NVIDIA or Capcom. In a 2024 Steam troubleshooting thread, user Gohão said the game ran at “half its normal performance” after updating, then reported improvement after setting Shader Quality to Low. That is a useful setting to test, but it does not establish the cause or show how common the issue is.

Driver rollback reports also conflict. One Reddit user said moving from 551.23 back to 546.65 resolved low FPS; that user later reported that driver 566.36 worked after re-enabling shader warming. The reports do not show that any one driver is optimal for all systems, and no authoritative prevalence rate or measured image-quality difference is established.

First distinguish the symptom
“Shader problem” can describe different things, and the fix depends on what you observe. Record your GPU model, Windows version, NVIDIA driver version, Street Fighter 6 build, display resolution, relevant graphics settings, and whether the issue is low FPS, uneven frame times, slow-motion gameplay, or visibly degraded image quality. Change one setting or driver at a time so you can tell what helped.
- Stutter, especially after an update or on the first launch: shaders may need to compile again. Try shader warming before changing drivers.
- Persistently low FPS or slow-motion gameplay: test Shader Quality at Low, then compare against your original setting.
- Image looks different but performance is stable: compare the in-game graphics settings before attributing the change to a driver.
Try these fixes in order
1. Let shader warming finish
- Open Street Fighter 6’s graphics settings and enable shader compilation or shader warming on startup, if the option is available in your game build.
- Restart the game and allow the shader process to complete before judging performance.
- Play the same scenario again and note whether the stutter or frame rate changes.
After a driver update, shader caches may be invalidated or relocated, so compilation can cause temporary stutter. That explanation does not, by itself, account for a lasting change in image quality.

2. Test Shader Quality at Low
In the graphics settings, set Shader Quality to Low, then test the same scene or mode where you noticed the problem. If performance improves, compare with your previous setting to decide whether the trade-off in visual quality is acceptable. A Steam player reported this as a fix for their system; treat it as a per-PC workaround, not proof of a general NVIDIA driver defect.

3. Verify the game files
Use the game launcher’s file-verification feature to check for missing or damaged files. If you pursue a cache rebuild, remove only cache data documented for the game or launcher you use; do not rely on unverified folder paths or delete unrelated files.

4. Consider a clean driver install or rollback
If the problem began immediately after a driver update and remains after the steps above, try the driver installer’s documented clean-install option, or test an earlier driver while keeping a rollback plan. The community reports mention 546.65 and 546.33, but do not establish either as a universal fix. Before changing versions, record your current driver so you can restore it if performance gets worse.

Use the same resolution, game mode, scene, and graphics settings for each comparison. Note average FPS if available, but also pay attention to frame pacing and whether the game still stutters after shader warming completes. Revert a change that does not help, and avoid changing the driver, shader setting, and cache at the same time: doing so makes the result difficult to interpret.
