Thrustmaster’s T598 is a racing-wheel bundle built around its Direct Axial Drive servo base, but it comes in separate PlayStation/PC and Xbox/PC versions. Choose the bundle for your console, then confirm that your games and any existing Thrustmaster accessories are compatible. Thrustmaster specifies 5 Nm of constant torque, +100% overshoot capability and 5 ms responsiveness; those are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.
What the T598 includes
The T598 is sold as both a servo-base product family and as complete wheel bundles. Thrustmaster’s bundle pages list a detachable 30-cm (11.8-inch) steering rim and Raceline Pedals LTE pedals alongside the base. The Xbox/PC store listing describes its pedal set as metal; check the listing for your region and exact bundle before relying on that detail.
Thrustmaster unveiled the T598 set at the ADAC SimRacing Expo in Germany on October 19, 2024. Guillemot Corporation’s 2024 annual report describes the set at launch as the T598 wheelbase with an Axial Flux motor, Raceline Pedals LTE and Sportcar Wheel Add-On. The current bundle pages identify the included rim as detachable.
Choose the bundle for your console

These are distinct console variants, not one bundle that supports both PlayStation and Xbox. Before buying, check the platform support for the games you want to play as well as the compatibility stated for the wheel bundle.

What Thrustmaster says Direct Axial Drive does
Thrustmaster describes Direct Axial Drive (DaD) as an axial-flux motor design. It says the design provides clear wheel motion without cogging and high-fidelity force feedback. The company specifies 5 Nm of constant torque with +100% overshoot capability, 5 ms latency or responsiveness, and HARMONY high-frequency torque. These are Thrustmaster’s product descriptions and performance claims; the cited materials do not provide independent comparative measurements.
The base includes a Race Dash screen for settings and race information. Some Race Dash display features depend on using a PC or a compatible game. Thrustmaster’s technical explainer distinguishes DaD from conventional Direct Drive by describing them as different motor technologies. It also presents controlled resonance and vibration as a way to add haptic feedback through the wheel base and cockpit. Those explanations describe the company’s design and intended effects, not proof that the T598 outperforms other bases.
Check your existing wheel add-ons and accessories
Do not assume every Thrustmaster rim will attach directly to the T598. The compatibility guidance distinguishes add-ons that work with the base’s native latch system from older products that require a Quick Release Adapter or Quick Release Upgrade.
Wheel add-ons
- Thrustmaster lists the Hypercar Wheel Add-On, SportCar Steering Wheel, Formula Wheel Add-On Ferrari SF-25 Edition and GT Wheel Add-On as compatible with the native latch base.
- For older add-ons, check the exact model and whether it requires a Quick Release Adapter or Quick Release Upgrade.
Pedals, shifters and handbrake
The compatibility article lists Raceline Pedals LTE and T-LCM pedals, TH8A and TH8S shifters, and the TSS Handbrake, subject to model-specific connection rules. For PC use, Thrustmaster says to connect a TH8A or TSS Handbrake directly to a PC USB port for optimal use. Connected to the T598 base’s DIN port on PC, those devices provide sequential-shifter functionality only. The TH8S connects to a PC by USB. Check the compatibility article for connection guidance for your exact pedal model, particularly if using load-cell pedals.

Plan the mounting and setup
Thrustmaster says the servo base can attach to a cockpit through four mounting points on its underside. For a desk or table, a separate Desk Mounting Kit is required. Factor that hardware into your setup if you do not have a compatible cockpit.

On October 8, 2026, Thrustmaster’s US eShop pages showed each bundle at $599.99 and marked it in stock. Price and stock are time-sensitive, so check the relevant regional store listing before ordering. Guillemot’s 2024 annual report says the set became available through US store chain Best Buy from October 19, shipped in China from mid-November, and in Europe from late November 2024; those dates describe the original rollout, not current availability.
